Only 3 horrible songs in the electric set (Be Yourself, Virginia in the Rain, and Why I Am). Everything else was fantastic. No Ladies!!! This show reminded my why I still love this band.

Well, here goes nothing. The day started off innocently enough with me meeting my chums PJ4Real29, BRad, and Bill at their hotel. After Brad took a sizable dump in the hotel room, we were off. It should also be noted at this point that Brad was dressed in his Cabana gear. He was hereafter referred to as Cabana Brad. The ride to the show was not uneventful. We learned the meaning of the term Fox Den. Somehow it was also recommended that we meet up with some toothless women. Bill suggested some type of sexual activity with the toothless woman that involved his face. After explaining to him about the poor oral hygiene a toothless woman would have he quickly deduced that her hygiene downstairs would be nothing he\'d want to put his face near. Before the show we enjoyed the lot culture. Somewhat uneventful compared to previous years. Cabana Brad brought along some Montell Williams whiskey. No one wanted to attempt to Fox Den any beers to sneak them into the show but Bill did manage to sneak his knife in for some reason. There was a guy in a port a potty whose 3 friends pried open the door to show him sitting down on the can and reveal his dong to all nearby passers by. The show itself was not unlike other DMB shows. Good songs, tired songs, new songs. Rashawn looked bored the whole show. Tim did a face melter just about every song. Maybe it\'s time for each of them to leave the band. Boyd played some of the Nancies solo by finger picking, which was cool and there was some kind of Captain reprise. During the show, Andre the Giant, sitting behind PJ and me, spilled his beer. No big deal. Minutes later, Andre did a mini chuff. At this point Paul asked an unknowing Cabana Brad to switch seats with him in a clever ploy to not get thrown up on. I was hoping the Ants would be an Ants fake into Halloween. No such luck. On the way back to the car, Cabana Brad stepped in some crud and was forced to discard his white Cabana shoes. On the way home I got my iPhone stuck in the Murano\'s cassette player. Then we drove around aimlessly looking for something to eat. We decided, somehow, on Topper\'s. While waiting an unreasonably long time for our pizza, Bill told us about the time his friend took an Upper Decker at a party and then he had to fish it out with a Ziploc bag. We also discussed the merits of c*ck flaps. The Toppers pizza can be best described as a round flat wheel of steaming garbage. Paul kicked in the door in the hotel lobby. Luckily, when we got back to the room, the stench from Cabana Brad's previous transgression had dissipated. See you next year.

Especially good for N1. Highlights were Louie Louie interpolation of Warehouse, Captain, and the pleasant feeling that came over me when I noticed that by about 10:05pm, that three additional vocal mic stands had not appeared stage right and that, in fact, the LL would not be joining band on at all that night.

This was the first night of our two night trip to Alpine Valley. After seeing Dave Matthews Band at the ramshackled dump that is the Marcus Ampitheater it felt great to be back at Alpine. It was the typical crew of myself, Juke and Steph and we even got to take Juke's fancy new Jeep for the trip. Stepping up in the world. Anyway, once we got to Alpine Valley, we had a fun interaction with a security guard as we made our way in before proceeding to park in the lot. We immediately got to work setting up our tailgate, the highlight being a DMB power hour. After a while we made friends with the guys next to us (Ross the Boss, Shirty and Cheech) that happened to get the lion's share of the shade of our tent. This played in our favor though since Ross the Boss had an extra ticket for the Reserved Section at Alpine as opposed to our usual lawn seats and managed to get us all down there. Shirty and Cheech had other seats and were never to be heard of again. The show itself was very good. I loved the acoustic/electric separation of sets. We spent a little too much time tailgating and missed the first few intro songs but made it in for One Sweet World. Highlights were Lie in Our Graves, Captain and Drive in Drive Out. I will say that the Lie in Our Graves during the acoustic set I heard last year at the ramshackled dump was better but it's still a great song live. It was the first time we had been in the actual reserved seats at Alpine and that was quite the experience. Ross the Boss was a real party animal, and that only adding to the level of fun that was had at this show. Lots of good energy and I'd give the show a 4 out of 5.

Acoustic sets are better this year with subtle changes made. Standing, not sitting, more light show, better tempo. Electric set was awesome! High energy, some rarely played songs, lots of Boyd soloes! Usually N2 is better than N1. But, it will be tough to top this performance.

My 41st show overall and 16th at Alpine. I love how songs like OSW, Jane and Pig always seem to show up at Alpine. SDL into Thank You was nice and Typical was the highlight of the acoustic set. After the first 3 songs of the electric set, I knew it was going to be a special night. It was old-school DMB time, with all sorts of 1990s gems. I even thought during Warehouse it would be cool to hear 'Louie Louie' outro, since it seems like they don't do that a lot anymore. Then they did it - old school! The 2-part Captain was pretty rare and I think this was my first time having Crush as a closer - I really like it in that spot. Encore was perfect, keeping the old-school vibe going. Extremely solid Night 1. Usually Night 1 is the 'weaker' of the two nights for me, but in 2013 and again this year, N1 was really, really good.

A rollercoaster of a show. The acoustic set had a three song drag of SpaceBread and Where are you going, then finished with Jane and Typical Situation. Typical was the biggest highlight for me, as I hadn't seen it since 2004. They really nailed it. Then started the electric set with Pig, Big Eyed Fish, LIOG, Nancies, Warehouse! Be Yourself was also in there, but What a run. I enjoyed Virginia in the Rain, although that was a bathroom song for many. Granny and Why I Am weren't all that exciting, then Captain was good and the reprise was an awesome surprise. I usually like LITHOG, but Jeff's solo was an absolute lullaby. Usually it's more of a funky jam that slowly builds, but it was truly awful. No other way to say it, you had to be there. Crush to end the set and then I was thrilled to see BOWA, which I also hadn't seen since 2004. A solid show, I would say about average, so let's give it a 3.5.

My 31st show since starting in 2004 and I'll admit that even though this is the greatest band in history and their music changed my life....my DMB enthusiasm has already peaked, and these last few years with rotating so few songs at shows, I do not go to several every summer like I used to. But I am not the type of fan that bases my excitement of shows off reviews of other shows, even though I kept reading how the LL keep ruining shows, and I'm not a fan of them myself. I'll admit I was pleased that they did not play at Alpine, but I am spoiled having Alpine so close to me as the band really does kill it every year. They totally did not disappoint this night, as I will forever regret missing the 2013 shows. Boyd was totally on all weekend...and they played some classics at this show!

Thoughts from DMB night one at Alpine: Dave really, really likes/missed that place. Acoustic set a bit off, electric was fantastic (it opened with Pig, one of my favorites, and didn't let up from there). 2 new songs! Miraculously was able to watch the whole show with no obstruction in the lawn as a 5'7" man. I make a good walking support for the inebriated while sitting. It was clearly Boyd's night to shine, but Rashawn Ross made a damn good case on trumpet. It looked like Stefan's upright bass had something happen to it in the acoustic set...sad. Lighting design gives a nod to Gothic architecture. Sound great as always. Really surprised at no Watchtower or any other Dylan tribute (they played a Pete Seeger tune of all things). Looking forward to night 2!

Great show, old school set list, jams jams jams, Boyde was highlighted quite a bit. I must say I am NOT a fan of thank you (learn a new trick alpine)... that said I think the thank you chorus at the end of SDL set the tone for the show, the band extened that tune by about four minutes playing to the crowd.

Night 2 was far superior in my opinion but this was still one hell of an evening. Typical Situation was a great closer for set I. The first 6 songs right to of the gate in set II, Pig, Big Eyed Fish, LIOG, Be Yourself(I like this song a lot), Nancies, and Warehouse, were a fantastic run. CAPTAIN!!, DI,DO and Crush to close the main set and great classic encore BOWA and Ants. I left this show thinking there was no was they could do better on sunday.

I'm a sucker for kill the preacher into Why I Am.... though it was a tease intro, glad to hear it again. Again I say VIGINIA IN THE RAIN is so sweet to my ears, hits that soft spot in me. Drive in Drive out was a favorite that evening as well as the Outro to Big Eyed Fish....Dave letting it eat!!

Excellent show! For the first time in a couple years I've was able to leave incredibly satisfied! Most of the set felt like a nice surprise, aside from a few songs in the acoustic set. Feels like this might have been the best show of the tour so far from both a performance, song selection, and show flow. Gonna be hard to top tonight this weekend.
