Probably the best set list I've ever heard! They played every song I wanted to hear, no disappointment! stone opener (one of my fav songs) once Dave brought out the 12 string, my friends and I were like uhh... Stone into Last Stop? No, it was Big Eyed Fish! After Billies Dave had the 12 string again thinking its Grey Street only hoping and wishing. Finally I got my first Last Stop!!! The guy in front of us told his friend had the set list and there's a "big surprise" in the encore, which was Christmas Song and yes it was a big surprise! carter's Two Step was solid with Fonz adding in the begnning best i've ever heard!! Lots of energy and I can not wait for what's to come in NYC and C'Ville!!

most energy ive ever seen out of dmb. Stone opener was fantastic, and then bef-bartender was classic. Being at the camden shows I did notice a lot of repeats from those, and i feel like cant stop took the mood out a bit... it wasnt until last stop started that i knew the show wouldnt be a total repeat from camden and it was a great moment in the show. Definitely best Jimi Thing ive heard, and the encore was great, with an amazing two step to close it off...

overall it was a great show, and am satisfied with this being my last dave show until 2012...

The City Of Brotherly Love played host again to DMB as the caravan trekked down I-87 to appear after a five year lay-off at the whatever-bank –you want to call it center. DMB typically brings the A-game when playing Philly and tonight they stayed right on course, delivering a performance that showcased some of the bands most poignant masterpieces early on in the show and packing energy that clocked in at over 2.5 hrs of joy on stage. This was a very strong outing and if DMB are indeed going on hiatus next year, Philly2010 was a show that will long stick to the neurotransmitters of the loyal DMB fan base to answer the question of why you need to be AT certain shows.

THE STONE: Been quite some time since I have heard the Stone open up the set; this is one of the better ways that DMB can start a show. A dark, haunting stone is thrown out here, very, very strong opener. They mean business tonight.
BIG EYED: Excellent choice, the darkness continues, Dave screams at the world, solid & abysmal BEF, segues right into BARTENDER, Long version and pretty standard, an amazing 3 song run to start the show.
FUNNY/WHY: the darkness falls away into a nice pick-up with FUNNY, going into WHY I AM, a couple of crowd pleasers.
GRAVEDIGGER: Long intro, and the notes creep in, back into the black.
BOWA: Always a treat here, a well timed beam of hope, the version and set-placement fit impeccably, crowd was really into BOWA, the bliss of the evening.
DIGGIN A DITCH: The gloom & darkness continues with another tour breakout, I always love hearing the ditch.
CAN’T STOP: Apparently the band can’t! This show is off the chains right now, big version of this Can’t Stop and they jammed the roof right off the place.
BILLIES: Amazing mid set version, drunken hillbillies, Boyd and Coffin crush it, pure joy going on in Philly!
THE LAST STOP: Are u joking, no joke…unreal.
SPACEMAN: Wow, there really is no-let-up with this show, this song rips, great high energy packed, version of spaceman…. I can’t recall a show where the 1st 12 songs just seem to flow perfectly, the hits just kept on coming
SEVEN: If there was a lull to this show it may begin here, but still the band was relentless, seven always jams.
PNP>RAPUNZEL: Big song/Big Show… bring it.
YOU & ME: the burn card, every show has one……it’s a love song…..
CORNBREAD: Another shot in the arm, much punch with this cornbread…..”it soars inside my soul”
JIMI THING: ok, sometimes I dig this song, other times not so much, just seemed like time filler, and I get it…They could do no wrong in my eyes tonight though.
SHAKE ME: Not the set closer I would have gone with, but the encore made it for it and so much more. Monkey Shake is always strong and power packed, it worked.
E:
THE CHRISTMAS SONG: Beautiful, captivating, be happy your alive.
TIMEBOMB: Full song here, very well done
TWO STEP: Roof is already blown off, keep it afloat though, great ending to an amazing show.

This show just had unexplainable energy and stamina through-out the whole night, the opening run of three songs, The BOWA > Spaceman sequence, The 3 song closer…all epic DMB moments…..Thank-you!

4.5/5 Overall

Incredible opening run of Stone and BEF > Bartender. Funny is still good and Why I Am is such a high energy song. Unfortunately timed bathroom break during Gravedigger meant I missed the opening verse of BOWA. Can't Stop has evolved nicely since SPAC N2. Last Stop's outro would segue well into Why I Am (in my opinion). Spaceman was kind of a downer, but I thought Seven > PNP > Rapunzel was gonna blow the roof off of the building. You & Me then sucked the energy out. The guests were great on Cornbread (I love that bridge!) and Jimi Thing. Dave messing up Christmas song and acknowledging made it funny and memorable. Time Bomb > Two Step is getting a bit old, but good god is Carter amazing!

Dear Dave,

Most of the audience went to Camden during the summer (I'm sure). This show was almost an exact repeat of those nights. Please know where you are and what you've played in the area recently. Last Stop, BOWA, and Christmas Song were highlights though. Definitely the loudest show I've been to - great job on that Philly! Second half was by far superior to the first.

As the last time we saw this band was at the Gorge we werent expecting much in comparison. What we did expect was to be wowed again by our favorite band in one of our favorite cities and we got much more than that. Great energy from the start. Great jams, Tim and Carter on fire througout. High energy with Tripping Billies which was followed by Last Stop. Best Rapunzel I have ever heard live, Roots horns for Jimi Thing was a real surprise. High energy, great show, well worth the trip, money and great feeling after the show as DMB can only do. Can't wait until MSg and C'Ville!!

Good show! Weird set list, but I liked it. Loved PNP Rapunzel, and I liked Cant Stop and Time Bomb more than I thought I would. The Last Stop was awesome midset, saw the 12-stringer out and hedged my bet on Last Stop and got that one right!

I wrote a big review and then my internet quit and I lost so heres the two second version

Would have been a two had not for the inclusion
of an amazing Jimi Thing and Two Step, and the Xmas song which I love, but dave screwed up the same line 3 times. I play guitar and yes its tricky timing with the lyrics and riff, but hey you wrote it.

Setlist: just ok due to order and too much Big Whiskey which has been played a ton recently (great songs though)

Crowd: Weak, yes pumped at at times but not pumped up during Time Bomb which is a rocking song, most missed the cant help fallin in love sing a long during stone, and i dont think it was technically a sell out, behind the stage used to be 100% full in the late 90s.

* I was front row in 104, right up against the GA section. Anyone in GA who faded back a bit to dance to the songs was right in front of us. In addition to being there with my dad and a very good friend of mine who is also a big DMB fan, there was a group of people in the row behind us (do not know if they were Ants or not) who were avid enough fans to be able to call songs based on instrument switches throughout the show. It was an awesome section to be in. I am sure that helped.

To be honest, I am starting to get tired of seeing people rate shows lower because they did not play enough of the songs the people personally want to hear. They have been playing 5-7 Big Whiskey songs a concert, they are going to continue to do so. Get used to it.

I give this show five out of five stars. For sure. I thought the setlist was brilliant (had a great rise-and-fall, not too many back-to-back face melters, not too many quieter ones to kill the mood), and I thought the energy the boys brought to the show was as infectious as it was enjoyable to watch. I gave them several fair chances, I felt, to knock the show down a few notches, too:

- Early back-to-back Big Whiskey songs? Are we, the audience, not tired of hearing those yet?
- Gravedigger? You play that ALL THE TIME. Are you not tired of playing it yet?
- Cant Stop? Have I not heard a fair amount of negative things about this recently on the Ants boards?
- Seven into Rapunzel? Is that not an awful lot of wonky time signatures to cram into 15 minutes?

And the boys, I thought, replied:
- Hell no. Listen to the audience cheer when they recognize the opening chords! (listen to the recording if you do not believe me) You guys, at least most of you, seem to still love them! And look how much fun the atmosphere of the concert is because of it!
- Hell no. Check out this cool new intro we got for it. Plus, that bad$@% groove is exactly what we need to cool down after Why I Am before we go into BOWA.
- Seriously, after all the complaining I have read about this appearing in sets instead of almost any other song, when I heard the opening bass line, I thought, this is going to be a tough sell for me. I think they delivered. I liked it a lot. It was kinda seductive, had some great dynamics changes throughout, and it helped that Dave and Stefan were totally into it.
- Turns out, it is great. Then again, turns out, I would probably dig anything into Rapunzel. Also, this Rapunzel was OFF THE HOOK. Listen to it.

Plus, Philadelphia got:
- Stone opener. Seriously, who does not love a good Stone opener?
- Midset Billies into Last Stop. I will bet almost everyone in the place who saw the 12-string thought Grey Street instead. Awesome surprise to get that, especially since I had seen that they had played Last Stop at the last two shows and thought we would not get it. I think the Northeast can now quit complaining about missing the Last Stop return from retirement, as a bunch of you guys were earlier this year.
- Jimi Thing. Oh my sweet Jesus, Jimi Thing. Four-way between Jeff, Rashawn, and the Roots boys was dirrrrrty. Plus, Dave scat. Plus, I laughed a bit at Stefan not quite being on the same page about when to end the Sexy MoFo outro. Listen to Jimi Thing if you download the show.
- Dave flubbed the lyrics on Christmas Song. I thought it was endearing. Made it more live, I felt. You might disagree, your thing, no sweat, but I liked it.
- TWO STEP. DOMINATED. I thought the Two Step I heard out in Pittsburgh in June 09 would be the best one I would ever hear. Totally wrong. Carter Beauford can drum solo for the rest of my life, and I will never love it any less.

Five stars. For sure.

Have a great break, boys!
Long live DMB.
