Dave was great as usual.... This may be one of the worst venues i have ever been to. They do not sell alcohol.

Average show for the most part. The lack of classic songs was pretty disappointing. Excellent ending with Watchtower/Stairway but otherwise not too many highlights.

Decent show, not the strongest. Epic Carter/Jeff #41, love Rye Whiskey, interesting run of 'death' related songs in the first half of the concert

Show was awesome because its DMB of course!! We didnt couldnt get tix so I was watching from the parking lot. All of a sudden Vinny hands hubby 2 free VIP tix!! We followed him in and we have the best box seats!!!

That was the greatest ever. I was almost crying, only a few tears.

DMB rocks the band was wonderful. They are always wonderful!!!

Very good show.I dont know why,but Dave didnt really seem very into the show.He was a bit quiet.Dave at most shows, says a few things, makes silly sounds etc.He didnt do that at this gig.I was fired up seeing them in a small venue. They didnt play Why I AM or Time Bomb or You and Me from the new disc. The set seemed a bit short.Night 2 had better songs.I saw the band a couple of days later in Hershey, that was a better show.

Solid start with Funny The Way It Is and You Might Die Tryin. LITHOG and 41(nice job by Carter and Jeff) were definately the highlights of the show. I liked Burning Down the House and how they made SMLAM seem like a fake at first. Exciting finish with All Along the Watchtower/Stairway.
It was better than people are making it out to be though the crowd sucked and it coulld of done with a little more of the older stuff

This band brings it every single night. I have never left without being blown away. Sure it wasn't my dream set, but if you really love this band you grow to respect every song for what it is. If they played all the classics all the time they wouldn't be who they are. Dave Matthews Band is beyond music. Can't wait for tonight.

Decent show.... something was off though...
either the sound or the rain or something...
or maybe the crowd is really lame at Jones Beach

#41 and LITHOG were great, spaceman and seven solid

but, the sound needed to be turned up or something

been to 14 shows, by far the worst show ive been to, no question. Never ever seen a set like that, short set(under 2.5 hours) only 2 classics,(41 DDTW) i was completely shocked, and Ive been to my fair share of bad shows but this was different.
only 2 positives---sojourn of arjuna, and talking heads

After braving the rain in the parking lot since 2pm, I really expected more from the band. Nearing 60+ shows since 1994 and can't remember leaving the show feeling somewhat disappointed. Energy wasn't there. Seemed like they wanted to finish up as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, who can complain when you don't have to work and simply drink and listen to dave.

Not a terrible show, but like most people are saying, it missed something. Middle of the show seemed pretty slow moving. When DDTW ended, I was shocked that the show was already over. I figured they had at least 2 more songs up their sleeves before the encore. Positives were Burning Down the House, #41, #40-Rye Whiskey. SMLAM was interesting how they almost made it seem like it was just a tease...Night Two should be better!

This was my 8th Dmb show and like always I had an amazing time listening to one of the best bands on the planet, but i would definitely say that it wasn't one of my tops shows. This, however, in no way means that it wasn't a rocking show. Getting to hear squirm and LITHOG live was great and i can't wait to hear these songs in the future when everyone becomes more comfortable with them. #41 like always didn't disappoint and we got to hear a ridiculous solo by jeff, who is now meshing with the band incredibly. SMLAM awesome live and the crowd went crazy when he played it so the band def dug that. For the down side i was sitting in the upper deck so the sound wasn't to great and the crowd was lacking major energy in my section.(prob those dumb people who never listen to songs, but just go for the party). Also an incredible ending with AATW, which is my favorite closer out there, besides maybe Halloween.

Solid show, but not the band's best performance. During Squirm, the sky opened up and it started pouring but the rain only made the crowd sing louder and dance harder. Other highlights were Dreaming Tree, Cornbread, and a massive version of #41 featuring a great jam between Carter and Jeff. Watchtower (with a little Stairway thrown in) was an amazing finale, but I was a little disappointed at the lack of "classic" songs (0 songs from Under the Table, 1 from Crash). I was also hoping for Solsburry Hill after hearing the band soundcheck it for almost 30 minutes...maybe they're saving it for night two?

First time back at the beach since 1996! It was a great show. I finally got my boss to come with us and Jack and his son. We had a great tailgate party and very good seats. It was a good good time.

Alright I'll give you a constructive review...
P.S. Forgive typos... Doing this from an iPhone...

Jones Beach Night 1
--------------------------------

1- Funny the Way it is - not a horrible opener, shake me is much stronger but it did get the crowd on it's feet. So it's ok.

2- You Might Die Trying - and this in my opinion is where he started to lose this crowd. Why the band loves this tune as much as they do is beyond me... But solid performance.

3- Seven - thought it to be way too early in the set for another new song, but Dave sold it.

4- Everyday - so... When people begin to sit in the fourth song... You know you may be I'm trouble with energy for the rest of the night. Just your b-grade everyday

5- Squirm - Solid new song, 3 of 5 new ones... Older fans still sitting around me.

6- Dreaming Tree - older fans now beginning to stand back up, tons of singing for this once unpopular track from BTCS. Nice Jeff flute jam... Really long. I enjoyed it.

7- Lying in the Hands of God - half the crowd sat down for this song. It's a good song but with the odd flow of this concert... As I kept telling the guy next to me.. It was like an adrenaline drain... You never had anything to keep you going from the start. Solid version... Just after a 5 minute outro from dreaming tree, half the crowd was asleep.

8- Burning Down the House - awesome energy, crowd loved it. The end.

9-Where Are You Going - pee break, nuf said.

10- Spaceman - at this point... I mailed this show in of having anyhopes of being decent. Again I like the tune... Yes a promo tour but how many blah songs are we going to get? Sat down again.

11- Cornbread - I like the tune, but the energy had been gone. Dave during his dancing in tims solo even had to get the crowd clapping to keep it going. That should say something.

12- Shake Me Like A Monkey - what?! Energy? Two songs in a row? Holy crap? Just as amazing as I hoped it would be. The teaser intro was blue balltastic and they rocked it out. I'm not sure what they can do to the bridge of that song to make it sound less weird. On the studio version he doubles the vocals up an octave to make it more full, doesn't happen live. Carter get on that
**
13- Louisiana Bayou - I personally will always think of it as a poor mans lie in our graves - and after a nice intro back to bayou. Just meh for me.

14- #41 - two words: Jeff Coffin. Holy God, the crowd was electrified by this version of #41... and props to Jeff for playing one of the best versions I've EVER heard... And I have like 17 versions on my iPod. Well done bud.

15- Dont Drink the Water - horrible closer, left the crowd scratching their heads. I thought it would go into ants, then they walked off and...well it was weird. No this land is your land in this version.

------------------
E1- #40 - my first #40... crowd went nuts. Good job.
E2- Rye Whiskey - same as all other rye whiskeys.
E3- Watchtower - I always leave before the last song is played to avoid traffic, so couldn't tell you anything about this... Sorry

Overall I would give it a C, with highlights being SMLAM, and #41. Just too much low energy songs, and a clunky setlist to give it. B. Not my worst show (Atlanta 2001) but no where near my top. Hope it helps.

Matt

Wow, that was terrible. The only redeeming qualities of this show were LITHOG and Squirm. I can deal with some of the other songs in a good setlist, but all of them together? Come on, I'm glad I have tickets for tonight with all of that out of the way.

BTW, Jones Beach draws the worst crowd no matter who the band is.

It wasn't that terrible of a show like everyone is making it seem. Yeah the crowd did suck and it did kinda seem short but overall I thought it was solid. Great #41 Carter/Jeff awesome job on that, Squirm and Lying in the Hands of God both a first for me and I am pretty happy with them live. I just feel like last night was missing something, like one or two classics to set off the night. All in all i hope they bring it again N2.
