Absolutely amazing. Best show I've ever been to yet. Could not believe he played Halloween. We asked Dave to play it and he gave us what we wanted. That was absolutely crazy good. Me along with the whole crowd was absolutely pumped. Just amazing and nothing less. That was awesome! Two step encore was so amazing too along with Carter's absolutely sick solo. So long and crazy. I also loved how he'd fake into one song and go into another. Even without Leroi which RIP. We love you Leroi and miss you, the show was just awesome. The show was just like none other. Thanks Dave!

Different Dave Matthews' Lineup Proves To Be As Strong As Ever

The rain held off on Tuesday night, to a near sold-out crowd at Riverbend Music Center, for the Dave Matthews Band's seventeenth time playing Cincinnati. Although the grass on the lawn was starting to fade, and was a little soaked from the heavy rains earlier in the day, the mix of both young and old fans didn't seem to mind. What they also didn't mind, was the different lineup that came to play tonight.

They were without a couple people who have added a lot to the live shows over the years. Saxophonist LeRoi Moore, has been out since the end of June, due to an ATV accident that happened on his Charlottesville farm on June 30. The accident left him with a punctured lung and some broken ribs.

Keyboardist Butch Taylor, decided to leave the band earlier this year just before their summer tour kicked off. He toured with the band for the past ten years, and is sometimes called an unofficial member of the band, although the fans grew used to his presence on stage.

Because of these changes, it was time to bring in some old and new friends to fill in these empty spots. Guitar prodigy Tim Reynolds, has been back all year, giving the band more of a rock sound, leaving the band not as jazzy as they would be had they had a sax and a piano.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' saxophonist, Jeff Coffin, had joined the band after LeRoi's accident, but due to previous commitments with his own band, he could not make it, leaving the band without the smooth sounds of the sax. I later found out that it had been fourteen years since the band has played without a sax. Soulive's Rashawn Ross, was back for another year on trumpet, convincing us that he was all the horn section we needed.

The band played very few of their pop hits, and stayed more to the jamming side of things. They started the night off with a couple of favorites here in the Queen City, Don't Drink the Water and One Sweet World. Next they moved on to some more rare and recent material, including So Damn Lucky, Old Dirt Hill, Corn Bread and #27.

Then it was back to another favorite, when they began playing Everyday, with the whole crowd singing along. However, things took a different turn, when the crowd started chanting for the heavier song, Halloween. Somehow the next few songs continued the all-out jam session with the Water/Wine Jam, a return to Everyday, followed by the Anyone Seen the Bridge Jam, and then ending it by starting with off with Too Much, but quickly going into Tripping Billies.

It was time to slow things down, when Dave took the piano on Out of My Hands. They followed it with a sing along for all the couples in attendance, when they played the love song, Crush. At somepoint they decided to really change things up, and did just that by playing The Talking Heads' Burning Down the House. The song was followed by a near five-minute drum solo from the amazing Carter Beauford.

They then moved on to an unreleased song they generally leave for summertime in The Idea of You. Next up was Granny, followed by another unreleased gem from more recent times, Eh Hee. Once again, the band left me confused (although I didn't mind) as they somehow stumbled back into the Water/Wine Jam.

They then followed that by going into my favorite Dave Matthews song of all time, #41, where Tim Reynolds work, proved to me that a different lineup could be just as strong as ever. Next up was one of the few, newer songs that has a feeling like their old-school jam-vibe, You Might Die Trying. They ended the night with two of the best songs they perform, Ants Marching and the encore, Two Step.

Before the show started, I had my doubts as if a different lineup could compete with the sounds that I had gotten used to over the past ten years. The new lineup not only held its own last night, but showed me that with even a couple changes, this was still the Dave Matthews Band, and they appear to be ten times better everytime I see them.

this was simply the best show i have ever attended. This could be the best show on the tour this year. #41 was amazing and i've never heard two step that dmn dood. carter stole the show on that number. it was nice to hear tripping billies during the middle. i could see carte getting ready to go into halloween from the everyday tease. the boys played for nearly 3 hours and they kicked ass. anyone who says dave doesn't like cincinnati doesn't have a clue.

Show was amazing, great setlist, best so damn lucky and two step i've heard. But i think this must be said. I agree with the comments about the fans in the lawn... they were horrible. So many people texting, so many girls taking pictures constantly and not even watching the show. Everyone in the lawn seemed to be there just to say they were there at that show, rather than being there to actually enjoy the show. Also, a guy in front of us was yelling at everyone around after carter's drum solo during two step saying, "guys he's already played this song, stop clapping"... what a douchebag.

Have to give this one a 5. The crowd chanted for Halloween and Dave gave us what we wanted. This show also was played without a saxophonist. Jeff Coffin who was filling in for Leroi (injured) had a prior engagement causing him to miss this performance. What a great show. Missed the encore b/c we wanted to escape the parking lot since we were not staying in Cincy overnight.

Of course the Everyday...Halloween...Water/Wine Jam...Everyday Reprise was incredible but I must saw I was a bit disappointed that they played it again tonight in Virginia. Oh well, share the love I guess!!!!

absolutley incredible! i was skeptical with no leroi or jeff, but the guys didn't give in to playing songs light on the horns. rashawn was excellent! the energy was great all night for it being so hot - loved dave's dancing. of course i loved the response to the halloween chant, but i think i loved that the surprises kept coming more with the lead into billies, random granny and burning down the house. great to hear the updated idea of you, and songs like so damn lucky and you might die trying had so much new life with tim's guitar! this is #24 for me, and it was definitely my favorite. thought it would be tough to beat noblesville's friday night, but i'm sold! oh, and who cares if it's a one-song encore when it's such an amazing two step?

Hands down best show this summer!!! I seriously can say that I will probably never see a better show at Riverbend! I had 10th row which helped because everyone around that area loves DMB and the energy was unreal!!! Oh my god I have chills thinkin about tonight! Highlights Tim Reynolds all the way around, Dave talking to the audience, HALLOWEEEEEN and the chants were amazing especially in the PIT, Crush, So damn lucky was beautiful, Trippin billies in the middle of the set!!!, #41 always a treat, Boyd during billies, granny was amazing, and finally last but not least two step and Carter's ridiculous drum solo to end the night!!! Only thing that would have been better was if they played LIOG as well, but it was the best show (well second to 9-11-05 red rocks) i have ever seen and best Two Step i have ever heard hands down!!!

First of all TR3 opened... AWESOME!!! Timmy can sing and rip at the same time. I was setting in the 4th row center.
Don't drink the water - Typical opener that really got the crowd into it like always. Alot of energy.
One Sweet World - Awsome as always, beautiful song.
So Damn Lucky - Becoming a favorite among DMB fans this tour with Timmy soloing the extended outro and Dave yelling.
Old Dirt Hill - Dave opened with a story about how he used to ride his bike. Then i went to get a beer real quick n was back before it ended.
Cornbread - Jammed in the lawn with my friends. This song is an automatic fav. Fun ass song!
27 - Great song. Back in the 4th row again.

Ok the next thing that happened will be talked about for years and years to come.
Everyday(tease) into HALLOWEEN - are you kidding? This has been my favorite song every since i have listened to Dave. I never thought i would hear it. Sure enough me n my section started the "Halloween" chant before the Everyday tease then Dave told us "if your lucky." and we were very lucky i'ev never screamed so much in my life.
Water/Wine Jam - Unbelieveable way to follow halloween.
Everyday (reprise) into ASTB into Too Much (tease) - I'm still dumbfounded and in disbelief of what is occuring.
Tripping Billies - Still a little bit in shock
OoMH - Dave on the piano was a thrill to see for the second time.
Crush - This was an awsome version without the SAX i went to the lawn and danced on this one. I'm kind of a lawn junkie.
Burnin down the House - prolly one of my favs. of the night. Alot of energy and a funky beat
The Idea of You - Ok i got kicked out of the pavillion on this song for smoking. They kicked me to the lawn and stole my ticket, but of course i snuck back to my 4th row seat.
Granny - Back from the lawn and loved the energy of everyone yelling "LOVE" and "BABY"
Eh Hee - so much better with Timmy playing. He brings a new rockier sound to every song and i love it
Water/Wine jam (reprise) - unexpected and very short, but still unbelieveable
#41 - Sick Tim Reynolds solo. Really missed LeRoi on this one though
YMDT - Awesome version Tim's solo in this was nasty!!!! twards the end of this song i the security found me again and escouted me to the parking lot beyond the gate of reentry. They thought that could hold me back, but i wasn't leaving a Dave concert before the encore NO WAY.
Ants Marching - during the majority of this song i was devising a plan to get back in. The only thing i could think of was jumping two 10 ft fences with brush and shrubs going to the top. Of course i pulled a mcgiver andpulled it off. I was back in the lawn with all my friends right after the band went back for the encore break.

Two Step - All i can say about thissong is it was the best TWO STEP ever made. Don't believe me download it. If timmy's solo wasn't enough for 4 minutes then Carter's 6 minute drum solo was definantly the only way to end this amazing concert. Best memories of my life to date!!!!!!!!!!

Can't believe I got #41 at my 41st show - very cool moment indeed. Topped only by the Halloween surprise. The message boards leading up to the show today have been predicting a halloween chant , but i have never thought of DMB as a band that entertains requests. Was i wrong - when the soft sweet notes of Everyday all of a sudden turned into the roaring angry thunder of Halloween, I about lost it. I don't think we stopped jumping up and down during the entire song. THANK YOU DMB! GET WELL LEROI!

The venue is ugly to begin with and lawn is awful. Next year if I go back I'm definitely getting pavilion because the lawn was really lacking in energy in areas and too many drunks. My friend didn't have a real good time because of this and this was his first show so it kind of upset me. Next year I'm taking him to Blossom though.

Highlights: Halloween though I never heard this so called "Halloween Chant". Granny, awesome Two Step.

My 5th and final show this year, and hands down the best. Started off standard, then we started chanting... and the rest is history. The pavilion had great acoustics and the crowd was fantastic (excited but respectful). Rashawn filled in well on most of the sax parts (minus OSW) and gave the show another unique twist. The setlist included all of the best songs from this tour (Crush, SDL, Two Step) with some classics (#41, Ants, Billies) and of course a few surprises. (HALLOWEEEEEEN!) Carter's insane encore solo was the perfect ending (and the two girls in front of me left right in the middle of it!) I'm still in disbelief. Thanks DMB for an unforgettable night!

What a treat for my 33rd show. Made my top 3 shows ever. Simply amazing. Halloween, Carter's Two Step solo, and Rashawn simply can't be ignored. I saw alot of postings, but not many mentioned him. He was fantastic, pulling double duty and at many points during the show playing both his part and the vital Leroi/Jeff parts. The sax would have made this show all the more amazing, but I think Rashawn did an awesome thing last night and that can't go unnoticed. A great addition to DMB.

so this was one of the sickest shows i've ever been to. i mean seriously...look at the setlist. BUT. i have never seen a LAMER crowd in my entire life (which has consisted of well over 100-200 shows- not just dmb of course). why didn't i get the invitation to the frat party that was being held at the venue that night? the amount of non-fans (people that were completely oblivious to the fact that there was a show going on right in front of them) pissed me off bc i had driven six and a half hours to see this show. and how did i catch the one night with no jeff coffin? major bummer. this was still an insanely good show, however. (sorry i didn't mean to rant that much....it really was great, i swear!)

Right now this show is getting an average 4.5 stars? How can this be anything less than 5 stars?

Went with Sammy. Crowd started cheering for Halloween. Girl next to me says, “Yeah, there is no way they are playing that.” I respond, “You never know what they’ll play.” and they play it. Sammy’s first time hearing Halloween which was a song she had been dying to hear. I was so happy for her.
