BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. 1ST TIEM W/IN 1ST 7 ROWS AND I WAS 1ST ROW! DAVE WAITED 9 SHOWS UNTIL I WAS FRONT ROW TO PLAY SEEK UP. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS WERE HUNGAR WHEN THE SCREENS CAME ON(NOT A BIG FAN OF THIS SONG, BUT IT BLEW OFF THE ROOF), LOVING WINGS, CORNBREAD AND LIOG W/ DANNY, TYPICAL, GRACE, JIMI W/ RICH, AND AN AMAZING ENCORE. EASILY MY FAVORITE YEAR FOR WATCHTOWER EVER. WHAT A PERFECT WAY TO END THE 07 DMB SEASON!

I honestly can't give a full-fledged review, mostly because Smirnoff has absolutely horrid acoustics if you sit in the lawn (I couldn't hear most of what was going on). Also, we were surrounded by people much more interested in taking phone-cam pics and jabbering than involving themselves in the concert.

The setlist seemed kinda disjointed - I've been to about a dozen shows now, and I was so sure that they screwed up the setlist and played too long that we left before the encore (and I'm pissed because I LOVE Watchtower).

I'm also not real happy that I happily (at the time) paid $30 for a parking pass that I didn't get to use because of the horrid parking attendants (they didn't even know what my pass was for). This is the reason I usually pass on Dallas and make the 9 hour round trip to the Woodlands for a much more pleasant experience . . .

We were late getting to the Smirnoff, thanks to the freaking traffic on I-30! Only missed A Dream So Real.... but once they hit Seek Up, I didn't care! It was a great start to the concert for the night. Corn Bread was AMAZING!!!! Also loved hearing Eh Hee in person and Lie In Our Graves was also amazing. I loved how they came back to finish that song after three other songs. I was wondering why they didn't finish it! Anyway, I don't get why people are bitching either... I thought it was another great show by Dave! I just wish I had heard Crush, Werehouse or Ants.

I don't know what all of you whiners are talking about. I thought Dream So Real was a great opener ("thanks for letting us slide on in...") and the Seek Up was a wonderful trasition tune for all of you purists. Hunger completed this transition and had the crowd at full energy. When I saw the twelve stringer came out, I was NOT expecting WTWE, but it was solid as always. Shocking to see Billies so early in the set, but boy was it frickin AWESOME! After all the energy exerted during Billies, the Loving Wings>>WAYG? was a welcomed and enertaining break. Plus it gave Rashawn and Leroi and chance to really heat up! (not that they were awful on Seek) When Danny Barnes came out again, I was thrilled. The Bartender from the night before had really knocked my socks off, and I was interested to see where they would take him the second night. The answer was, of course, to new and beautiful lands. An incredible cornbread with plenty of energy and way more jamming than I had heard in this song yet. LIOG was a GREAT surprise because Danny had only played one tune the night before. This was the highlight for me; INCREDIBLE jams all around (esp. Danny, Rashawn, and Butch). Louisiana Bayou is always a fun track, and the end had plenty of energy as usual (not quite as exciting as the previous night's). Dream girl is a great cut IMO, and I really perfer it without the lengthy chanting intro; again, this leaves more time for the jamming at the end. Eh Hee: what can I say?!?! I really love this new song and really enjoy the story that inspired this creation. Plenty of energy here, and I danced like CRAZY! Even though I had called the split of LIOG and the reprise, it still surprised the hell outta me! What a fun way to come back to that theme. Interesting Typical Situation with the verses cut, but I kind of liked it. Fewer people sang along, and it left more time for the breakdown (my favorite part anyway). Grace is probably my favorite track, and I was expecting the hoedown outro, but was pleasantly surprised by a full Black Water jam! Jimi with Rich Brotherton of REK's band, and yet again, what a JAM! Love Rich's loose, country style; it really complemented this track, and Butch did a great Dave impression with a skat solo. Pretty fun to hear the Stop Time intro without So Much To Say. It was an interesting twist because you still get the "little baby..." before ASTB? and it really seemed to work well. Too Much was a freakin ragefest, and I just couldn't help but dance like a maniac. I'm still undecided on the extreme slow down before the break down... On the one hand I appreciate the carry over from the Stop Time deal, and I always enjoyed when they slowed it down a touch because it makes the a tempo that much more dramatic, but at the same time, it's almost too slow, and the crowd seemed to get lost right here. I'm sure I looked nuts as I flowed along with the barely moving tune and then proceeded to freak dance when they came back to speed... but I had a blast! Stay is always a great closer for the main set; a real crowd pleaser for the noobs and the vets alike. The Encore was also great with a nice reset in the action on AB Intro. Dave got really into this one, but the jamming seemed to get a little muddied towards the end (anyone else hear them trying to get to WH or Two Step, perhaps?). Watchtower is another crowd pleaser and the Tool intro from Stefan is still pretty fresh and fun. All in all a great show from end to end... my only complaint is the short Encore after being sleighted by the Woodlands the previous night. Also looking forward to hearing either #27 or Shotgun on one of the two nights in Texas, but alas, quite satisfied with the weekend en total.

This was my 9th DMB show and it was absolutely AMAZING. Tonight was so much better for me than last night. I had great seats and the people around me were Warehouse members like me so that's a plus. I was so stoked when Stefan started playing Tool, I knew what was coming up and Watchtower as alwasy was awesome. Eh was better tonight than it was last night so was Too Much. I felt like this crowd was better than what I was stuck with in the Woodlands. Cornbread was great with Danny Barnes then he stayed for Lie In Our Graves. They didn't play the last part of that song and when I forgot about it Dave busts out with the song!!!!! AB Intro is always nice to hear...I could go on and on about the set list but, I'll stop. I had a great time and the jams made trumped last night and last year's Dallas show.

For all of you people who say that the band wasn't in it...read this straight off of dmband.com

The band was lively tonight in Dallas. Starting off with A Dream So Real, the set progressively built to an intense climax of an encore. Danny Barnes sat in again, blowing us all away on Corn Bread and Lie In. The band gave him plenty of space and he rode that wave beautifully. Danny's bandmate, Rich Brotherton, skillfully played guitar on Jimi Thing and left all impressed as well. We're sad to part ways with Robert Earl Keen and his band, their music is a joy to experience. It's hard to believe that this tour is winding to an end, just six shows to go. It really does seem like we just got started. We're in store for a 1000+ mile drive to Phoenix for a show on Tuesday. See y'all then.

I'm sure that won't sway your minds but, thought I'd share.

ive been to over twenty dmb shows and i have to say that this was far and away the worst show ive ever seen. First off the crowd seemed dead even during the show highlights, Billies and Watchtower, the crowed seemed anemic. The band also seemed to have no reason behind any of the songs that they were playing, the energy level given off by the songs was all over the charts. Everytime I thought that they were gonna pick the pace up they would let it go right back down. Seek Up, normally one of my favorite live shows was butchered by the band, and this new song Dream So Real, is definitely not an opener and would probably be better suited as a dave solo to start the encore. The setlist was sporatic and all over the place, it seemed as if they were playing songs just to play them. It was the first show i have ever been to where i felt completely disappointed and actually wanted to leave. I hope that the rest of the tour was not like this

I've never seen them with so much energy on stage. I loved it. After the first couple of songs Dave mentioned that he wasn't feeling quite right, but then came to his senses after the response from the audience. The guest brought an amazingly fresh sound to each song they were on. The banjo was a whole different level of great on cornbread and especially on lie in our graves. Thanks guys for a wonderful show.

Feel terrible being critical of, IMHO, these legendary entertainers of whom I am a dedicated fan. But have to agree with the other 1-Star- rating Ants, I too cannot believe what a tragedy this show was. (I'd flown in from Boston just for it.)

One-star is in fact too high. My three Dallas-native compadres each agreed. I literally asked myself why I was there. Thank Heaven we were lawn, could converse on our blanket and turned to downing endless TX-24's (jumbo drafts).

To be sure, I'm no musician, just a fan; this was my third show this year, plus dozen or so since 1994. I've had the great pleasure (humble honor) seeing almost each of these songs live and - astonishingly - in almost the same interludes & compositions - sans Barnes banjo, but including an rippin' Grace/BlackWater (8/2/07) among others. NOT ONE Saturday night had the playing or energy of previous performances. Nor was band in synch, let alone psyched.

Did The Band receive tragic personal news that afternoon? Someone's dog - or worse - die before curtains up? I am still, 24 hours later, STUNNED and frankly SHOCKED.

And the crowd? Ants, Warehousers and any artist knows it takes two-to-tango. After many visual surveys of the masses, my disbelief was unfortunately validated. Nearly everyone, including the lower 100s, were drones. My Dallas residents noted their vacuous culture takes 'it all' for-granted while generally being unimpressed beyond flashing-the-cash (LA wanna-be's). It appeared so.

But are THEY/WE to blame? Or was it the uninspired delivery of an uninspiring setlist? Upon reviewing the line-up, an absent devotee may long to witness the arrangement. Whatever the case, it all proved a lethal combination.

ADSR as opener requires muuuch stronger delivery and on-decks; if not a more-knowing crowd (i.e. Hunger was played vs. Rapunzel). Concerned with lack of any vital signs through four songs, my previously-unwavering confidence turned to hope.

The usual crowd favorite Billies (fifth song), followed by unfamiliar Loving Wings, then the mellow Where Are You Going proved things were in critical condiditon halfway through. Drawing on my deepest faith, support, and another TX-24, not even the second-half hitlist could lift the dark veil at Smirnoff.

Chalk it up as a terribly off night for the band (and poor crowd). As in life, these experiences make you appreciate the good times and look toward more. With all due respect, we're all human and Dave & Co bats nearly 1.ooo.

See ya'll again soon, listening as always. Meanwhile, enjoy the last six shows.

I thought the energy at the show was excellent, besides a few idiots shouting the lyrics and just being plain pigs. The band was out of this world! A Dream So Real was on another level. First time I'd heard it but it was like an old jazz standard. Just beautiful. Banjo was insane. The band just seemed to jam and jam on a different level. And the All Along the Watchtower was a perfect ending. Great to see it live finally.

Thanks Dave and Co.

Another great show...My first time at Smirnoff in Dallas but it was a very good show. ADSR was a slow opener but they have put a lot of little parts into that one since KC..Seek Up, Cornbread w/ banjo, Jimi, Billies. Great company tonight there was 9 of us on the lawn. Can't say it was THE best but it surely was a memorable trip to Dallas in 2007!

This was not only my first DMB show ever--it was my first concert ever. ^_^ I grew up sheltered, what can I say? The show was tremendous & some of my favorites were played. I was over the moon about hearing "Stay", "Hunger," "Watchtower," and "Eh Hee". EH is better full band, for certain. First time hearing "Cornbread" and it certainly is in my top 5 songs now. In all, it was just as great an experience as I'd hoped it would be, even if I am still jealous of The Woodlands setlist. Fool to Think! Lucky punks.

I'll start off with the negative so I can leave it behind and dwell in the positive. Let me just say that the Dallas crowd was horrible. This was my 25th show and I've never experienced anything like it. I sat in the lawn for my first 7 shows and now I just sit in reserved, because I had braved enough crappy lawn crowds. All night long there were people trying to sneak into our row and section. Props to security for constantly kicking them out. Unbelievable audience behavior. The whole night I was just saying, "Seriously?" I was even in the 8th row for the 1999 South Park Meadows debacle in Austin and both situations were comparable.

So on to the show...... I thought that opening the set with A Dream So Real was an interesting choice. I love the mellowness ala Stolen Away. I enjoyed WTWE and Billies so early in the show. Loving Wings was another tune that I thought I'd go my whole life without hearing live, but the boys delivered. It was a great version and loved the I Dream of Jeanie outro. The guests from REK band were on fire and added great things to Corn Bread, LIOG and Jimi. I was kind of confused as to why LIOG didn't end the way it usually does, but then came the reprise and I was so surprised. I'm guessing DMB keeps it real and fresh and inspired by throwing in the new things, the surprises. My favorite part of typical situation is when they transition form the calypso jam into the traditional jam at the end. The boys started the song with the calypso jam and it was so sweet, another interesting twist. Grace really surprised me, especially with the Black Water outro. I love hearing the crowd's reaction to the stop-time intro to ASTB. I love watching the boys do it, too. American Baby Intro is definitely in my top ten, so I always love hearing it. Watchtower was tight and very powerful. Great set closer and great way to end my Texas tour and overall 07 shows. I've read a lot of junk on some of the boards about Dave's voice not being great. These last two shows certainly proved otherwise. He hit the high notes loud and proud. Great quality and great pitch. Thanks for a great 07 DMB, namaste.

My Third show. Really amazing.

A Dream So Real-I don't think i would mind this had it not be an opener. I think they just know it's a slow song and since it's new opening with it could be the only way for it to get some attention.

Seek Up-WOW. The first part where Roi and Rashawn get after it is amazing.

Hunger-3 shows...3 times....good energy of course and they had to play something to light up the background screens.

When The World Ends-not the 12 string song i wanted to hear (Sweet Up and Down). but i had never seen it live before so it wasn't bad.

Tripping Billies: Amazing....just amazing no words describe a midset Billies.

Loving Wings: very fun song. Dave was dancing his legs off as it got closer and closer to the end.

Where Are You Going: Knew it was coming, crowd enjoyed it.

Cornbread: Get a tape. Danny Barnes on banjo was amazing. They did a couple breakdowns where it was just him and Carter. Dave was having fun with this one.

Lie In Our Graves: 2 years in a row Dallas gets this. Butch wanted to play his hour long solo at the end but Dave quickly talked to Carter about how they would end the song. Danny Barnes again was amazing.

Louisiana Bayou: 3 shows...3 times. Energy is still rockin at the end though so i don't really mind.

Dreamgirl: 3 shows...3 times. Carter seemed to speed up the song and build it up alot more at the end.

Eh Hee: sounds scary similar to the new studio version that was leaked.

Typical Situation: very fun...the calypso jam was pretty long. people gripe about them not playing the whole song but i mean you get most of it plus the climax here.

Grace is Gone: Very fun. I wanted the hoedown outro but i'll take Black Water with it anyday.
Rashawn has a good singing voice.

Jimi Thing: Rich Brotherton was good. He's no Warren Haynes but he's still pretty good and he added quite a bit. Butch's scat was hilarious if you consider the look on his face plus Dave obviously making fun of him. Dave scat was pretty short and nothing new. For what it's worth outro.

Bridge: found out So Much To Say was scratched. The bridge was awesome with the new stop time intro. dave also did some fun stuff with his part of the jam.

Too Much: oh my GOD the breakdown is very very very very very slow. the song comes to a complete stop.

Stay: Saw it last year as encore closer and was expecting it tonight. Energy was through the roof.

American Baby Intro: Very short and too the point. Boyd did some extra cool stuff at the end.

All Along the Watchtower: UNBELIEVEABLE. stefan did the tool tease in his intro. AMAZING stuff.

What a sweet show!! My fifth of the season, and definately a good treat. LIOG reprise after Bayou, Dream Girl and Typical....very cool. I like how they are splitting it up now. At the Gorge, they played LIOG on Fri and waited till Sun to play the reprise! Typical, followed by the jam (or truncated), was sweet. Stephan was rocking that bass. Black water! The crowd (filled with dolled up, skirt wearing, hair curling, sweet Texas girls) went crazy. American baby intro and Watchtower sent the crowd into a frenzy. I haven't heard it that loud in an amphitheater in a while. Very long set too, almost 3 hours worth of DMB and you can't go wrong. Crowd was nice, not too many drunks. I'm proud of you Dallas!

Wow, what a show! This was my 4th show and I've got to say.....I was blown away! The band jammed for 3 hours! The highlights for me were the 20 minute Seek Up, Typical Situation and the always pleasing Watchtower ending. This was by far the best DMB show I've been to.

Played more favorites than I could have asked for, drove from Oklahoma City to Dallas and back in the same night! Great show, my first time to see Dave.

WHAT A PERFECT WAY TO END THE 07 DMB SEASON!

i have been to over thirty shows and this by far was the worst it was too slow and they never got the crowd into it except during cornbread and liog. Besides that i was ready to leave didnt even stay for the encore. They were out of sync and dave screwed up what could have been a sweet seek up. I never thought a day would come where i would ask for my money back but last night was it. Look at all the slow songs people were sitting down on the front row and they didnt get the hint. Very dissappointed

Okay, a little personal hope on display. I met this pretty little schoolteacher in the airport Sunday on the way back to Midway and I never got around to asking her for her number...I know big mistake but she had a Bears shirt on so I was a little conflicted and quite honestly fumbling and stumbling over myself. So I'm throwing this boomerang out to the universe hoping she will see this and contact me. pjkdmb326@hotmail.com

On the other hand, my fourth show of the year and 23rd overall. This was my homecoming show and it suprised me a little. This is probably the most off the cuff show I have been to. It seemed like they were just throwing stuff out there...and that is when they were at their best.

Some highlights: No crickets (over 10 years and this is the first time I could say that), the little Blackwater jam, Eh Hee and Cornbread just get better each time, the 46x2 intro into Watchtower, Typical Situation and I got to see another one of my friends get it. That's two for this year and I have my toughest shell to crack actually admitting it was a good show.

Some lowlights: Seek Up..ummm, I don't know but this was a good version, Too Much...heard it TOO MUCH, no Idea of You, and that's about it.

Good, good time and it was a damn good, good tour...maybe I have room for one more in me.

easily the worse DMB show Ive been too. Same was said from the crowd around us. People were bored, some leaving before encore. It was a definite let down.

The band seemed unorganized, taking a lot of time between songs as if "now what? Let's bore them with a crappy rendition of this song"

First time in 14 years I've thought "why am I here?" when at a DMB concert. I feel bad for first-timers who only have this impression of DMB. They really do rock, and please give them another chance.

Show set list was all over the place but really good. The band sounded great. LIOG was awesome when they ended suddenly and came back to finish it up three songs later. Great show!

I was expecting a more mellow show as DMB on 9/21 in Woodlands was such an energized show but was pleasently surprised when they started to pick up the pace (most likely because of the crowd's energy)!

To me, a good show not only consists of a good set list (but every song is awesome) but the bands overall viiibe, as well. It's really a special feeling to know that they're having just as much fun as we are in the audience.

ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU DAAAVE!!!!

...it just keeps getting better.

We got to see the band at what seemed to be its most playful time ever in Dallas. All of the members showed off their chops at some point during the show, including vocal bits by Butch Taylor and Rashawn Ross. Seek Up, Tripping Billies and Typical Situation were pleasant surprises and all got loud receptions by the crowd. Lie in Our Graves was great but a shortened version..almost seemed as if the band had forgotten to complete the song after bidding farewell to Danny Barnes. They played the final verse a few songs later. Grace is Gone->Blackwater was awesome. There were a few moments where Dave seemed to have forgotten words to the songs and opted to jam instead. I wonder, too, whether a cue was missed. As the band was ending American Baby Intro it looked as if Boyd was trying to set up Two Step 3 times but it never took. We were all happy to hear Watchtower as the official closer to the show and I look forward to seeing the band again--hopefully soon.
As far as opening acts go, I had seen Robert Earl Keen less than a week prior at Austin City Limits Festival so I was looking forward to seeing him again. He did not let anyone down and, although a number of people on the lawn were not very enthusiastic, those in the bowl certainly made him feel at home. He closed the show with The Road Goes on Forever -- a great song and one that lets his band show off their chops. Too bad Saturday was their last show with DMB though you should all listen to his music..good stuff.

Very boring concert. The set list seemed uninspired. It started off slow and never recovered. A bummer if you only go to one show a year. Luckily that's not the case for me...

This was my 14th show and I must say it was the worst. Setlist was a bit anemic, very slow and a bit boring. Crowd was very mellow and not into the music at all. Typical Situation was almost unrecognizable. Parking was a total disaster. Very disappointed.

I think it's quite funny how some people can go to the show and love while others hate it. People are saying this was their least favorite show and I honestly might have enjoyed this show more than the first two nights of the Gorge. This was my 17th show and the energy was definitely hear tonight. Dave was dancing, Carter was really getting into it, and even Roi was moving around as much as he could while soloing. Plus three songs with guests! There were definitely some low points but the best were: Cornbread and LIOG with Keen's banjo player. Probably the best version of Cornbread! Typical Situation!!!! Grace is Gone (Black Water), another stellar version! And one of the best encores I've seen this year:
ABI --> Solo (46 & 2 TOOL!!!!) --> Watchtower

Great way to end my year of shows!

........by the way the band friggin JAMED! The Dallas show tied for the longest show of the tour thus far.

this was my 26th show including 3 nights at the gorge in '05, and charlottesville last year and easily in the top 5 if not top 3. yes, it started slow but built throughout to a stellar close. plus, loving wings was an extra (not on the set list) great jam at the end, cornbread was nasty with the banjo, love eh hee, typical was not so typical (very cool), Grace into Blackwater was amazing!!!, great jimi with Rich Brotherton on guitar (nice scats by butch and dave), an insane bridge into 2much that literally froze on stage!!! (the showstopper), didn't expect stay to end it either. VERY strong encore with stefan playing some tool during the intro to Watchtower, which was very intense! LOVED IT!!!

many thanks to the band and crew for a spectacular night in Dallas!!!
