From Friday nite in Irvine to tonite at the Bowl was like going from a shack to a palace. The venue does matter--from the sound to the crowd, it was like nite and day. And the band showed up to rock the bowl. Definately a highlight in my years of enjoying the band. I'll never forgot Robert Randolph giving hats to the guys and then rocking out to Smooth Rider and L.Bayou with Dave in a red shirt, red hat and sunglasses. Very cool moment. A lot of improv tonite--even the classics sounded fresh and new, especially Wherehouse and Ants.

GREAT SHOW...just wish we would switch it up more with songs from concert to concert...He has so many to chose from...For whatever reason he loves playing either Hunger for the Great Light or You Might Die trying at every show lately...good songs, but mixing it up more would be great....I thought it was just as good as Irvine...So of Course I loved it!!

Everyone needs to relax. If you dont recall, on the last song on the red rocks 05 4 show set, after L.B., monday show, dave says, "i know everyone want to hear something, but we gonna play what we want to".. the show was great, dave was having fun, so was i... warehouse was awesome

Awesome venue but if you were at Irvine I'd have to think you we're a bit dissapointed. As the inaugural Bowl show I expected a better setlist. More than 1/2 the setlist was replayed. I did enjoy pig and it's always great when DN is played into WH. And yes, as the "LA" show there was a fair # of people sittin around, almost uninterested but many more having a great time. It helps to be surrounded by other WH members.

I was actually disappointed in this show... being the first time they played at the bowl I thought it was going to blow me away but I found that there was a nervous tension in the air.... I was also not happy with my warehouse ticket, I put in for one ticket and as you can see I didn't get much love! 10 year member..... None the less I do always have a great time at a Dave show!

I really thought Dave would bring it to the Bowl...make it a special concert to live up to the venue. Gotta say...didn't happen. 1) Dave had no voice...he was having trouble hitting notes and barely made it through some songs. 2) Starting with Best and Pig I was SO excited...then it was utterly boring until Nancies. How could they play the SAME songs as Irvine? I know Chula was in the middle, but Irvine is the LA and SD crowds, so you can't screw us in LA and bore us to death with the same crap from Stand Up. It's the BOWL, man, where's the other classics? I thought we were finally back in the groove with a nice Nancies and Warehouse, but while I was quite happy to hear Loving Wings-->Where Are You Going...where did the energy go? The Stand Up tour was last year, Dave...man, I wish I'd gone to Chula.

It was a pretty good show, the crowd sucked cuz it was LA, but I had a good time. Shotgun and Loving Wings were good, but I honestly expected a better setlist (ie not so much Stand Up). I was praying that Robert Randolph would give us some of that Two Step magic we got in Chula, but no dice. The venue was very cool, too.

My 32nd show...definitely the worst....c'mon boys it's the Hollywood Bowl...can't L.A. get a good show with some energy for once? Smooth Rider was the best performance i saw this tour but the show overall left much to be desired.

The best DMB show I've been to yet. This was our first date 5 years ago so every year we go again. First date was at SBC in SF and we loved it. That is now our SECOND favorite show. Maybe it's the Bowl or maybe Dave and the guys were more on fire but it was so hot!!! Louisiana Bayoo was an unforgettable experience.

Only 2nd show I've seen - other was Fenway day #2. This one did not compare. Nowhere near the setlist or energy, both from band and crowd. Louisiana Bayou surprisingly kicked ass. Otherwise, a bit disappointing. But it's DMB, it was still great.

Excellent! Robert Randolf and the Family Band opened for them. Show was 'off the hook' (once it got started). Went with my swimming teacher, she loved it. Loved the new song especially "Can't Stop". Smooth Rider is another favorite (the guys wore pimp hats) it was pretty funny. Dave should have let me 'pimp' him out. It would have really "cool". But all of us ladies would have stampeded the stage. I hope Dave and Tim do a rendition of these two songs at the Las Vegas 10/27/06 show.

#45. Renewed faith in self after Warehouse. Hurt my knee and was sick on Sunday. Monday, found the energy to go. Paid $100 for a scalped ticket and then snuck into Jordan and Jen's seats. Loving Wings, Everyday, Smooth Rider. But most of all...Can't Stop! WOW! Hollywood Bowl was terrific.

Seats were a great dissapointment, sound wise. But got better when we snuck to the sides. Great place to see Dave and gang - very subdued but great set. I know everyone has kvetched about it, but I think they were really great and really working at musicianship... I bet after you download and listen you will LOVE this show - go on, try and prove me wrong...

Meh. Dancing Nancies --> Warehouse, Crash, WAYG, WWYS, Everyday, Ants Marching. Come on. I've heard these same friggin songs like 1,000 times. The opening two songs were great. Shotgun was absolutely amazing. The rest of the setlist was same old. As much as I dislike the majority of Stand-Up songs, Smooth Rider w/RR was actually pretty okay. Not enough Busted Stuff songs. Crowd was horrible. I was in F section, and 3/4 of the people I could see were writing novel-length text messages to who knows during the entire concert. And hardly anyone showed for RR opener. I really like the Hollywood Bowl (sound is good enough), but this show wasn't all that great.

Review:
From the moment the band walked out on stage you could tell that they really wanted to be there last night. Unfortunately for them, it was LA, and no matter how hard they tried, no matter how much Dave engaged the audience, the crowd didn't respond they way one would hope when a band like this is playing an unbelievable venue for the first time in their long career. It was sad in a way because I was in Atlanta two weeks prior, and if you took that crowd and transported them to the Hollywood bowl, Dave may not have left the stage until the following morning. The applause seemed cordial at best and while I was beating the seat hoping to inspire some of the people sitting around me who actually sat in their seats THE ENTIRE SHOW, it just wasn't happening. All in all, it makes you appreciate the lesser venues in the more Dave worthy cities (see also:anywhere in the South).

What a fanfreakingtastic show. This is my 12th show, 9th year seeing the band, and I must say, the magic of the Bowl and the sweetness of the songs makes this show rank in my top 3 of all time. Sure, people can knock the set or the band or the crowd...but come on, even on an off day (and I'm not saying this is one of those), but even on an off day, any DMB show is still better than anything else out there. Complaining about Bowl v. Chulajuana? Oh well! That's the gamble of choosing which shows to go to. Complaining about song selection being redundant? Too bad! Some of us didn't go to Coors or Irvine, so for us this show was special because we didn't just see the other two SoCal shows. I wouldn't been heartbroken to not here Loving Wings, and so glad we did. It has a special place in my and my husband's hearts. Overall, the lighting was spectacular: all-time favorite, #1 with a bullet -- only the Bowl, due to it's shells, could have this light show, fan's will never be able to see this again, unless DMB does the Bowl again. The crowd around us in H was great. The band lit up the Hollywood Hills like the 4th of July.

Garden Box 51...thank you WH instant tickets! The show was good. Great opening songs (BOWA and Pig). Shotgun is becoming one of those songs that we will will all want to hear during a show. I had hoped for some additional surprise guests besides RR (which I love), but RR didn't disappoint. Top 10 show of all that I have seen (MSG N2 2006 and the Vegas shows of 2001 still rank at the top for me. Kevin

If you were like me you thought this would be a special show but it turned out to be a normal LA show but hey we got some nice tunes anyway! Pig, a cool Warehouse and Dancing Nancings and So Right! Wasn't that bad but still wasn't the show we were all hoping for, certainly not as good as the shows they played the following year at the Bowl with John Mayer on #41

Show was good, venue sucked glad I did not have to park my car there. They have act together about the shuttles. The only way to go! Terrace Boxes were small and ackward at first. When the show started was fine. Did see the Security gaurds be over pushy with people. Definately a Historic Venue but, not sure I would go back.

I don't know what the hell ya'll are talking about. This was a fucking great show! Not a lot of classics, but they put they foot in the new material making it more dense and rich. What a pleasure it was to listen to. Coors was a good show, but this one was better. The problem with Coors is even though they had a lot of improv going on, at a couple points it was too much. It took away from the whole song in general because it seemed like the soloist were trying to figure out where to go, making it anti-climatic. The Bowl was different. With everyone having their solos, it was still a build to this excellent climax. It made the music punchier, richer, and certainly more enjoyable. And as far as LA is concerned. unfortunately, I've lived here and gone to most of my concerts here in the last 10 years. And yes, the LA audience is very blah-seh. But the Bowl audience was the best LA audience I've seen in the 10 years I've been here. They were enthusiastic enough to buy out all the posters before the show even started (yes, I am pissed I didn't get one). The Coors audience wasn't as pumped, and I got a Coors poster as I was leaving the venue. So chill, ya'll will see, this show will become a modern legend.

Great show....crowd was a little too mellow for my taste and not appreciative of the nice start to the setlist, but with the last few songs and an amazing encore with maybe the best performance by an opening act with DMB that I have ever seen. Robert Reynolds was ridiculous during the encore!!!

Going into the show, I was a bit nervous that this show would be a bit of a letdown--afterall, the Coors Amp. show was epic, and I knew that I wasn't in the Orchestra section tonight. But, I knew that, despite us Angelinos (btw, what an "interesting" mix of fans tonight, huh?), that Dave would rise to the occasion. And, he f'ing delivered! You could tell that even he was a bit in awe of beautiful Griffith Park, and he felt "small as dust laying down here." I'm still blown away by that show, and I hope he plays here for years to come. Sincerely, Proud of Los Angeles

Who knew Bayou would be the best song? Good lord that was good. Set started strong, lagged in the middle, and ended great until encore which was a step down from the Smooth Rider/Bayou songs with Randolph. Ridiculous 2nd row seats, though, so pretty unreal show.

This was my 11th Dave Matthews show in as many years. I wish I could have seen more, but there was a period where I was marching drum and bugle corps for 5 summers, so that leaves no time to see dmb. I sat in J2, row 13. What can I say? Like many others, I had high expectations for this show - I thought the band would would pull out some surprises and focus on the classics. The opening had me convinced that's what we were getting, but about 5 songs into the set, I realized we were on the same formula that I saw Friday night in Irvine. The show was fantanstic, though. Dave seems re-energized, like he's shaved a few years off. There was a few moments in WWYS and Warehouse tonight where it felt like we were back in '96 again. Not as much as Friday night (during Too Much, I could have swore Dave was back in the plaid pants). Warehouse was the highlight of the show (especially with the `Louie Louie` insert), Smooth Rider and Lousiana Bayou with Robert Randolph come in a close second. This has probably appeared on the other reviews, but Robert Randolph came out with a stack of hats, where a Reggie Bush jersey cut into a vest. He handed them out to the band, Dave getting a Red one, to go with his Red shirt. It was a great moment, one to remember. I'm glad that I rented those binoculars, because it was cool to see the sublties of the band. Robert Randolph was laughing it up at Dave after he donned the hat and sunglasses. Lots of good 'DaveSpeak' tonight. When Dave came out and introduced Robert Randolph, he gave a whole sililiquoy about how 'you got to be coooool in Los Angeles. Slightly aloof, like you don't care ... I'm not paying attention to anyone, just slightly aloof". He took it a little farther after the band started. At one point after a song he stopped and said "The weather in Los Angeles, always perfect ....never changing. How much to guys have to pay to keep it just like ... that. Back where I'm from in Virginia right now, it's as hot as an ASS-HOLE"(huge reaction). The intro to Nancies was very tongue in cheek - Dave talking about chasing his dream in LA (sarcastically) ... good stuff. I decided last night that I've been to enough shows and this thing means enough to me that next time I am springing for a seat up front in rows 1-3. I joined the warehouse way to late, so I guess I will have to fork out some dough for them - oh well. What else can I say? I was proud of the crowd last night. I thought that LA did a fine job of welcoming Dave Matthews. I am quite surprised, actually. If you look at 'Garden' and 'Terrace' in the seating chart, those are basically luxury boxes. When I got there, I thought to myself, 'oh god, this is going to be the stuffiest crown Dave has ever faced'. I was proved wrong. To sum it up - last night was a great show, but I was expecting epic. I am most pleased by the fact that Dave has returned to a form not seen in many years - he looks great, and seems to still be having fun. The new material is very soft, subtle and rich - I am looking forward to the new album, and hope that it is on the way to being another UTTAD. Now the question for me is do I go to Shoreline? I have tickets to 311 in Santa Barbara and dmb in Shoreline and I can only do one. hmmm...

I hate to knock a DMB show, and never write reviews. As many have said before - any DMB show is better than anything else we could be doing. I fully agree with this. That being said, the crowd was terrible. It is LA, so no shocker there. The fact this was a random WH seating show didn't help - all the diehards were scattered through the venue. Add to that the LA factor, and you get full sections sitting down and no hands in the air in the front sections. Text messaging, talking during quite songs, etc, etc...Total crap. Sick venue, no doubt. The stage set in the shell was fantastic. The setlist started off with a bang and fizzled into mediocrity. RR couldn't even save the day, though he tried his best and that was a damn good time. Overall worst show I have seen in a while on a few levels. Crossing my fingers for a miracle in Chicago.
