Fun show. Not the best but it is never bad to be at MSG. Pig was sweet. American Baby Intro was awsome and so was Bayou. Two Step seems to find its way into the encore every where I go(I love the song though so I am ok with it). Can't wait for tomorrow night!

Awesome show, great energy despite the mellow start, although Recently was a sick opener. Am. baby intro was rediculous, as was bayou and watchtower. Christmas song was a nice touch, and to whoever started the two step chant, don't come to the next show. I love the song, but let the band play what they're gonna play. Otherwise great set/show.

Nothing like X-mas in the city. You can always tell the boys love to play MSG. And they showed it Friday night. With the recent news of the wife being pregnant, I started to feel this may be my last 2 shows. And I went out with a bang. Great show, very high energy. Highlights were definately PIG!!!, Am. Baby Intro (INTENSE), and of course 2 step, (after the crowd cheered it up). Great night, can't wait for tomorrow!!!!

Having travelled 3000 miles from Scotland to witness our first ever DMB show, needless to say expectations were high that Dave and the boys could put in a performance to match the classic concerts such as Central Park and Red Rocks, these expectations were greatly exceeded!!! We could barely make out the opening song of the night due to the ecstatic cheers of the MSG crowd, upon hearing it was Recently we realised why. The crowd reaction was certainly justified. Any thought that the band could shift down a gear were immediately dispelled when Dave followed up by striking the unmistakeable opening chords of Granny. A personal favourite of the Scottish boys in attendance. The classics continued with a stunning performance of Everyday, with a Sold Out MSG providing the backing vocals. Simply unbelievable. Even the new songs were being received well by the hyped up crowd, with a sensational rendition of the AB intro being the pick of the bunch, with Dave and the lads building up to a climax that rocked the world renowned arena to its very foundations and sent shivers down the spine of every man, woman and child in attendance. Next up the crowd was surprised to see the appearance of a guest guitarist so early in the set. The shock continued when Stefan began strumming the deep undertones of the Watchtower Intro. No reason to get excited???? Indeed! The crowd went ballistic when Dave started the epic Bob Dylan classic. Many artists have attempted to cover this song over the years, but we're willing to bet that few versions matched the intensity of the version that Dave performed in the Garden this night. Song after song continued to send the crowd into raptures, Crash, Too Much, Stay, Stand Up, too many classics to mention! A great version of Stay brought the main set to a close, with Butch Taylor and Carter standing in for the "lovely ladies" on backing vocals. The feverish crowd didnít know what to expect from the encores, but what other song could Dave have chosen on this snowy December night in New York than Christmas Song? The crowd then let the band know what song they wanted to top off this magical night, with chants of "Two Step, Two Step" reverberating around the Garden. Never being one to disappoint, the DMB delivered with a mind blowing performance, with each of the lads adding their own touch of magic, jamming in the very heart of the song. This was a night not to be forgotten, and the sadness that the show was over was tempered by the knowledge that we would be there again the next night to do it all again!!!! If ever there was a night to see DMB for the first time, we're sure this was the one!

Nothing from UTTAD. But a very high energy start. A full Recently was great to hear again! Pig, Too Much, Bayou, Hunger, Granny were all nice. Two Step as an encore is truly getting old for me. I love that song, always have, but it has been the encore or set closer at half of the shows I have been to (60 with tomorrow's). One thing is certain, no Two Step encore tomorrow night!

Great show (though I was a bit disappointed when I saw the next night's setlist!). Highlights were Recently - Granny - Everyday intro, then Pig, AB Intro, Two Step (I know it's played out but I hadn't heard it live in a looong time), and Christmas Song (although very predictable). Would have really liked some more rare songs, but solid setlist anyway.

This was show 17 for me and the energy was insane. My highlights were ABintro, LB, Recently opener, pig, and watchtower. Out of all the venues I have seen DMB at, no venue compares to MSG as far as crowd energy is conserned. Can't wait for tomorrow! Tomorrows set will include seek up, 41, minarets, and dreaming tree. Wait and see.

Amazing show. I loved the mid-set Watchtower with Krasno. Stay, Recently, Two Step, Pig and Watchtower were my personal favorites. Granny was also great. I had great seats, directly behind the stage, but up quite a bit. They were suprisingly awesome. Even though u're looking at the backs of the band u're really close.

Very solid show for Night One at MSG. Highlights were Recently; Granny; Pig; What She Said (AB Intro); Watchtower; Stand Up; and Too Much. Good to see Kras onstage at MSG--congrats Kras! The boys left a lot of possibilities for Night Two, and as you can now see, they didn't disappoint...

User: lc_2000

great show. not the best I've seen, but certainly not the worst either. can't wait for tonight. wasn't too thrilled with crash and WAYG so close to each other, but a Too Much, Stay ending made up for that. STOP THE TWO STEP CHANTS!! I hope people realize that they were probably planning to play that ... they didn't play it in response to the chant.

User: mslamchowder

the setlist was almost exactly what i thought it was going to be. xmas song was soothing and powerful. my first recently was fun way to start off the night and the hani hani chants are always amazing/inspiring. as soon as two step ended i grabbed my friends arm saying holy sh**. i really thought that we might get a 3 song encore with halloween ending the night which would have made up for the only 2 lackluster songs of the night which were where are you going and old dirt hill. all together though a pretty great show.

sick show. recently was an amazing opener. he threw in #36 in everyday, which was also sweet. pig, ab intro, n watchtower were all spectacular too. bayou was awesome and stay was a different but cool ending. they changed the encore to two step, which was cool because carter went nuts at the end. all in all sick show. night 2 will probably be just as good if not better.

User: smx19

Show was one of the best I've seen--at least in the beginning. Opening with Recently was a great way to integrate the old with the new that was played later. Pig was played, however the crowd as usual didn't seem to know it (except for the die-hards). Christmas Song was amazing as well

Review:
MY GOD great show, From beginning to end. Just when you think there going to close with too much they go on with stay. All along the watchtower was amazing to be placed in the middle of the concert and American baby intro really hyped it up. CHRISTMAS SONG was the most amazing song played, it really hit the spot from a great concert to an Amazing concert. It was predictable but the sound was so smooth and soothing, besides its the holidays so it fits great. The only problem was not many people new the song, in my section I was the only one singing it...its sad. Only if there was one more encore song, that would of made my year. From the sounds of the drum beat at the end of Two step it seemed like Halloween or so what Ants Marching was going to begin, but i figure they would probably save Ants Marching for the 2nd night as well as trippin billies. As for Halloween, i doubt it will happen but if it does... MY GOD

perhaps one of the most lackluster performance of the 15 ive seen of the band. there was very little energy and the set list lacked consistency and flow, soulive was more entertaining at times..however highlights were AB intro and xmas song w. the xmas wreeth.

This show absolutely fucking rocked! Recently opener kicked the show off to a great start, Pig and Bayou were awesome. I did not see Watchtower coming and when that shit started, I thought I was going to cry. The only song I wanted to hear (on Friday night specifically) was American Baby Intro and when it came on I started crying I was so excited! Christmas song was beautiful. And Two Step Closer!!! I hope I never forget the way I felt when Carter started his crazy crescendo at the end of Two Step. Good times at Madison Square Garden!!!

Interesting setlist choice ... not what I was expected, especially not 1 jam song the entire show ... recently and granny was a good start ... everyday and dreamgirl was a 20 minute piss/beer break ... pig was a nice touch ... crash always sucks ... hunger is ok ... where are you going absolutely stinks ... american baby intro is awesome ... best thing on stand up ... watchtower was decent w/ krasno ... bayou is always good ... stand up is solid ... old dirt hill and too much might be the worst 2 song stretch in history, and that includes the everyday and busted stuff tours ... they brought it home strong however w/ stay, xmas, and (a regrettably too short) two step ... gets me excited for tonight ... i would be pissed if i didn't have tix ... don't get me wrong, the energy was awesome, but the setlist was not ... there's a lot left on the table to play tonight

fucking kids next to me were utter clowns, it sucks that people can just ruin a concert that you pysch yourself out for and pay so much to get in. anyway the set was really really solid - definitely look into the RECENTLY, PIG, ABI, and TWO STEP. after christmas song, typical "two step" chants, but louder than i've EVER heard. anyway, i think they changed songs, because leroi had the soprano out, and then he put it down and picked up the baritone. that was pretty sweet.
