great show, great setlist. I thought there was a lot of energy in the seats. On another note.. This year me and a few friends got a camp site because we didnt want to deal with the parking lot shit at the beginning and end of the concert. I recommend it to all.. It was such relief to not have to wait around for two hours after the show. Also we didnt have to listen to those damn parking lot attendents before the show. for 30 bucks a night per person we got free park admission and a real nice camp site.

Very strong show. Even better than last years at Darien. A decent setlist, with all songs being played with great energy. The Stone opener was worth the price of admission. The American Baby Intro was absolutly amazing. Lousiana Bayou and You Might Die Trying also rocked. Granny was a nice surprise. When Dave said "...It came to our attention that we hadn't played this one here in about ten years but it ain't the one ya'll thinkin' about." and then launched into Two Step, my friends and I all went nuts. Even being sent out on Everyday was nice and mellow. Great night!

as usual venue sucks, there was no energy in the crowd the setlist was ok but could have been better. Dont get me started about the parking lot because they need to do something there. on the flipside there was a few good songs and the tailgating was cool.

Fairly decent show. The good songs were good and the okay songs were just that. Say Goodbye, Granny, Two Step, and Billies were all pretty sweet. The band had good energy but the crowd was probably too drunk. Also, I can't express how much of a cluster F*** the parking lot is after the show....maybe more exits next year.

In my opnion, it was a solid set. Maybe everyone had a few too many, but it wouldnt be the first time. Otherwise, i thought it was great to hear the newer songs progressing throughout the tour. Bayou is without a doubt one the greatest songs they have written and preformed in years. WINTER TOUR 05???????!!!!!!!

Still holding on to summer, it was chilly and rainy! Had to buy a hoodie and some sneaks for this show! Tailgated for a little while but wanted to get to our seats. This show was sooo cool! I missed the show in Pittsburgh because I had a baby, but this was my first one afterwards! Dancing all the baby phat away! Thanks John and Adrienne for babysitting!

Good opener with The Stone. WTWE nice to hear. Say Goodbye Two Step and Granny Awesome to hear them. Closing with Billies and Everyday was Sweet. The venue isnt as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, where else can you see the sunset and during an awesome song like Two Step see Fireworks that made for a really good show for me!

Bad. Just about sums it up. The venue is awful, which we all know. The setlist was just...bad. Good songs: Say Goodbye, Two Step, Granny, The Stone, Tripping Billies. Bad songs: everything else. The main set clocked in at a pathetic 2 hours. Worst show I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot.

The show was all around ok. The Stone was a good opener and i didnt see that coming, but the highlights had to be the say goodbye, Granny, AB intro, and the sweet Two Step. Crowd sucked, noone around me were doing the honey honey's during Everyday (i felt like an idiot doin em alone). Lawn will not be in my future ever again, 3 years straight was torture enough. People who like to make a concert suck should just be thrown out.

Ya,ya,ya, this venue sucks. What sucks is getting in and out of it. Once the lights go down it's pretty much like most places unless you are way in the back then it still sucks. I thought the show was very solid. The band played their collective asses off as they usually do and the set list was decent. I kind of liked the new stuff and overall had a really good time. This wasn't the best show I've seen them do but it certainly wasn't the worst.

I thought it was a great show. Louisiana Bayou was amazing live, along with the stone, say goodbye, when the world ends, granny and TWO STEP. Great encore, it was a perfect way to end the night. Although i did have to sit in traffic for a long ass time. It just seemed like the band was really pumped for this show which was surprising considering it's in the middle of east bum-fuck.

I enjoyed this show. Especially when my first two shows were Scranton and SPAC Night 1 (go look at the eerie similarity!) this setlist was a nice change! Granny was a thrill to hear live and the AB intro just absolutely rocked. Not to mention how he sang the AB intro lyrics during Two Step! My friend and I heard the little Dreaming Tree tease and then the 'we haven't played this song here in 10 years' was a funny tease only because I've never heard them talk on stage about deciding what to play. ALL the Stand Up songs have changed since I last saw the band at SPAC night one. All for the better. I enjoyed the Butch solo before Out of My Hands too haha!

Great show all around. The new stuff was hit well and crisp, and the old stuff was great. Dusted off a ton of stuff I haven't heard much of lately. The Stone as an opener was wonderful. Bringing out Two Step blew the crowd away. All in all, I'd give this show a 7. It was great, I loved it, but I've heard better.

I thought the show was incredible, I enjoyed every song because I am a huge fan of Stand Up, and got to hear the songs for my first time live. LB was fucking amazing, right along side Say Goodbye and Two Step. Haha glad I wasn't the only one to notice the leaving Leroi, but I thought it was kind of funny. Had decent seats from the warehouse but not amazing to say the least. The energy from the band was off the hook but why was I the only person in my section who knew the words to the songs and actually was enjoying myself???? Hope to see DMB in Toronto soon times!

This was to be my only show for 05 until days after this show I decided the Gorge was calling. Always wanted Stone and especially as an opener. Bayou rocked, AB intro was great and Say Goodbye was another song I wanted that I got. Dave verbally teased #34 but played Two Step with a nice AB Intro sort of two step intro. The encore was weird with Billies then ED, both of which Dave bumbled lyrics on. Overall a decent show, didnt top 6/30/04 for me but at that time I left pleased except for the 2.5 hour wait in the lot afterwards.

First ever DMB show and I was impressed. I loved every single song, I don't care what anyone says. Excellent setlist, great energy, fireworks were a bonus. The crowd really sucked tho, there were too many people there that weren't there for the music but there just to say they were there. Everyone on the lawn was shoving and swearing, yadda yadda...just relax and enjoy the show. How much of a difference does 10 feet make anyway?

User: gmm6797
Review:
Being my 8th show of the tour, and my last show of the summer it was a mellow way to end the summer of DMB shows. Over all, the summer was filled with a very high percentage of "Stand Up" songs from show to show, which was not a disapointment, but not exciting either... some deeper catalog songs would have been nicer, but I am not really complaining either. Tonights show was a little bit on the mellow side, but it was still a great performance. Dave messed up both of the encore songs, and during Everyday, you can really hear him laighing... I dont recall if he has ever had to stop a song because of laughing, but I thought it might happen. Also of note, he introduced a song as "Were gonna... when we were thinking about what we were gonna play tonight, ah, we realized that i dont think we've played this song here in about may be alomst 10 years, so ah...... but its probably not the one yar thinkin' about"... then into Two Step. Until the Holiday tour... Im am outa here

Great show, met alot of cool people there. SG and Two Step were the highlights, I dont get the TB encore after they played that last year, still an awesome song though. It still bugs me that they ended the show 20 min before 11. I realize that Darien has a law that the band must be off stage by 11, but why dont they end at 1055 then, instead of 1040. I dunno, oh well, still a great show

The Stone Opener was good along with AB intro, Say goodbye, Granny, and Billies. I was surprisingly in to What Would You Say despite having heard it a million times. Two Step was good as usual but it is my third time in three shows hearing it so it is honestly getting a little old at this point, which I don't want because it is one of my favorite songs. People were real into the Everyday final encore song but not me so much. IMO it is a terrible ending song. I get sick of going to shows and being able to predict from a handful of songs Dave's openings and closers. They shouldn't underestimate the element of surprise in their encore instead of their signature tunes all the time. Also it was more funny than anything else but did anyone else notice that Dave botched his lyrics like 3 or 4 times throughout the show.

Solid time in the lot...we evaded the rain and did our usual. Eat Drink & Be Merry. The show was good but I came across 2 problems. My friend Douggie worked the side beer stand --> Free Beer. Good and Bad. I got super wasted and didn't catch every detail as I usually do. Also, I went into the show dying to hear #34 and #40 which were played at their last show, and got disappointed when I didn't hear them. Overall, very happy to hear Granny and Tripping Billies. Two Step is always good, and American Baby intro is niceeee.

Great opener with the stone. Then the set took a nose dive and I really wasn't feeling the songs, yet the band played their hearts out so it kinda evened out for me. But as soon as they started with WWYS, the show completely did a 360. I never thought WWYS would be such a great highlight. After that we got Say Goodbye which was just f'n beautiful. And granny is always a treat. The rest of the songs were fucking incredible and then WHAM, TWO FUCKING STEP. After I shat my pants and the encore break ended, we got Billies and Everyday. What started off as a rather lackluster show, ended with a bang. Amazing show overall, I've never seen such energy from the band, you'd think the show was being taped for TV or something. Wow, I was blown away. Darien's got some quality fans, plenty of energy - too bad the place is in bum fuck nowhere. GREAT SHOW!!!

sec 100, row 9, seats 5 &6 warehouse always comes thru at darien for great seats. disagree with some of the reviews below. crowd had great energy in section 100, at least those around us and the thundering from behind us was impressive. maybe the lawn stunk, not sure. overall a good set list, though not great. kills any rarity scores :) the setlist was not as short as people are saying, the band came out at 815 and left the stage for good at 1045, a normal 2.5hrs of playing with a little bit of a long encore break. funny thing is, the guy next to me, a girl in front of us and I were all holding up 3 and 4 fingers during the show for #34 and before two step dave said "we were talking about the setlist for tonight and we realized we havent played this song here in 10 years" and then he points at us and says "and I bet it isnt the song you are thinking of" or something to that effect. then they go into twostep. pretty sweet. Was happy to hear American baby intro, too bad they didnt wait until the fireworks were going to play it. dave also sang american baby intro lyrics before two step i think. for those who are critical of the parking lot and getting out of darien, SPAC is a million times worse after the show when it comes to leaving. for darien the key is to park near the exits of the lot, not close to the venue. nothing like riding superman and then going to ray lamontagne and dmb. ray was great, btw. heres to hoping i make it to a winter tour show

After reading everyone's comments I have something else to say. Myself living in Rochester I am only 45 mins away from this venue. I will agree with the parking. IT SUCKS. For the venue itself, I thought it is very good. I was also in the lawn having an awesome time:) Anyone see someone in a very bright tie dye shirt dancing with like everyone??? Thats me. nice start with the stone but quickly went down hill from there speaking for myself...once we got to WWYS then buisness started to pick up and the boys quickly made up for weak start (song selection) so wonderfully delighted to hear say goodbye for the 2nd time especially b/c it's mine and my friend who's 21st birthday was the day before, and our gift was tickets to the show. On the way there i told her its been quite a main stay of late in the line up so theres a good chance we might hear it,once i seen them light up the drum riser my g/f and I made a bee line to her and we all enjoyed the moment together....she was in tears she was so happy.Another nice touch by the fellas was bringing two step back to darien lake, all in all outside of the slow start turned out to be a pretty good good time...a special thanks goes out to the person or persons who cut the fence and gave us a "alternative' exit out of the parking lot through those gotta be mad as hell by home owners backyard or else we would probably be still sitting in the parking lot....

WOW! I must say an amazing show. My 9th DMB show and definitely one of my favourite shows. Kind of hard to beat out the 09/03/03 show though. Thanks to my sister and her boyfriend for hooking us up with seats in their section half way through the show. Had lawns, but moved down. People were way too drunk on the lawn, and didn't seem to be all that into Dave, but they were partying anyhow. The setlist. Pretty damn, good, especially near the end!!! The last three songs came outta nowhere, and each one took me by surprise. But the highlight of the night for me, by far, was the 20 minute TWO STEP! My favourite DMB song ever since I've been a fan, and I was SOOOOO not expecting it after Alpine Night 2. Also, I'll never forget what Dave said right before they played it. Something like "When we were thinking of what to play tonight, we realized how we haven't played this song here in about 10 years". Everyone started to cheer then as Dave smiled...he looks over at Boyd, and they bust out a crazy Two Step, with the intro using the lyrics to the American Baby Intro. SUCH A GREAT NIGHT. Great show, the band had awesome energy! Other highlights were Louisiana Bayou, Say Goodbye, Granny, and clearly the ENCORE. I also expected the first encore song to be from Stand Up. Right when they came out with Tripping Billies, I thought they were gunna close the show the exact same way they did last year (with a 1 song encore of TB), but then the Everyday/#36 blew us all away, and definitely got the crowd singing to end off the night.

Beer + Underage, Rich Preppy teenagers = terrible crowd. Great show though, pretty solid jams, was expecting a too much after the soundcheck and would have killed for #34, but i'll take two step anyday. Parked near an exit so leaving wasn't a problem at all, more of you complaining about the parking lot should use more common sense. As mentioned before it'll kill a rarity index but the stand up songs have improved ten fold since hershey. come onnnn winter tour dates!

Last night my sister Sarah treated Cheryl and I to a performance by the Dave Matthews Band at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center near Buffalo. It was the ninth DMB performance for myself and the first for both Cheryl and Sarah. And even though I have seen Dave Matthews play many times before, I didn’t quite know what to expect from them as this was my time since 1997. After attending performances for over a span of ten years, both acoustically and with his full ensemble, in stadiums, arenas and bars, I’m happy to report that the Dave Matthews Band still has it. In fact, they may sound better now than they ever have! The evening kicked off with a fantastic set by Ray LaMontagne, who has quickly made his presence known on my music radar with this performance as well as the few mp3s that I’ve downloaded from his website. His voice reminds me a little bit of a young Joe Cocker (sort of); raspy with a ton of depth and energy. He was quiet and unassuming as he took the stage and worked through material many in attendance seemed familiar with. With his acoustic guitar accompanied by only an upright bass and drum kit, the venue seemed a bit cavernous for his style. However the power and conviction of his performance compensated nicely and overall I was impressed by his offering. Shortly thereafter the Dave Matthews Band took the stage to tremendous applause. It even seemed to catch Dave and the other members by surprise to receive such an ovation prior to even playing a single note. The applause continued at such intensity that when they did begin to play the open notes to "The Stone" it seemed nearly indistinguishable. Starting with "The Stone" was somewhat surprising to me but I was happy that they opened with some material that I had yet to hear them perform live. I stopped going to shows before the release of "Before These Crowded Streets" and it’s been so long now that I haven’t heard the band play nearly half their catalog live. The intense ending to "The Stone" and the eruption of cheers at the beginning of "When the World Ends" set the tone from the crowd for the rest of the night. Of all the DMB shows I’ve attended this crowd had more energy and excitement with every note than I’ve ever witnessed. The band seemed to feed off this energy too as they rolled into a downright nasty "Louisiana Bayou." Eventually they settled down into a gorgeous version of "Crash" before absolutely tearing the roof off with an amazing "American Baby Intro". This was by far my favorite moment of the night. I was absolutely blown away that their strongest, most beautifully arranged song of the evening was nothing more than an extended interlude. They jammed it for nearly ten heart-pounding minutes and made me wonder on several occasions why I ever stopped going to their shows in the first place. (Oh yeah, that’s right, the drunken teenagers. Thank you for throwing up on my clothes and seat you moron!) To recap this concert song by song would probably be only entertaining for myself, so I’ll spare the reader such boredom. I was very pleased with the song selections which covered a broad range of their material from over the years while brining new life to many of the songs from "Stand Up" that I’m still familiarizing myself with. Other highlights included a spotlight on Carter Beauford’s brilliant drumwork on "Say Goodbye," and a performance of one of my all time favorite Dave Matthews Band songs "Granny." After an exciting rendition of "Two Step" (complete with an "American Baby Intro" vocal tease) the band exited the stage to the sound of nearly ten minutes of thunderous applause which was literally ear piercing at times. Upon returning for an encore they closed their set with "Tripping Billies" and a really fun version of "Everyday" where the crowd started singing "#36" over the intro and the band eventually transitioned into the song by the end. I can actually still feel the energy of that night as I think about it. Yep, the Dave Matthews Band still has it.

One of the best setlists I have ever heard. I loved how the "She Saids" came back in AB Intro, AB and then the intro to a fab Two Step. Stone Opener rocked my world.

It would have been an awesome show IF: it wasn't so short AND they didn't close with EVERYDAY.

Came from little ol' Kitchener in Ontario for this show and man do the New Yorkers know how to rock a concert. The energy was amazing way more than any other Dave concert I've been to with the exception of the Antioch, TN concert last year. I loved the American Baby intro, and Two Step, you don't know how much I was hoping it had'a been #41 though.

This show was the best I've seen at Darien. I dont care what anyone says, I loved the encore...Trippin Billies is always amazing to hear and #36/Everyday is a song I have been dying to see live and I finally did. It's a song where you feel like ur actually performing with the band because of the way dave and boyd sing intertwined with the crowd. Great night and great show. p.s. u know the parking situation is gonna suck so stop complaining.

This show was right on. The band seemed as though it was their first show back in years, their energy was awesome. Every song was great and some, like granny and two step were a beautiful suprise. I had heard that they were having some trouble playing the new stuff live, but they definitely rocked it out. This has been my first show in six years and I was so happy to see the crowd all riled up, screaming every word to every song, like I was. The venue really is not so bad, the parking lot however is another story, but somehow we made it out in a half hour, go figure, they really should do something about that. Other than that I have absolutely no qualms about the show it was amazing!

Worst Venue ever!!!! Setlist was decent. I was happy to hear Say Goodbye. Everyday was good as expected as he always plays it when he is in north western New York cause the fans really get into it. Back to the venue...I was lucky enough to park at the front where only theme park people were suppose to park the first time I visited this place. Tonight was just horrible!!! It took two hours to get out of the parking lot. I will never go see a concert here again!!! In the words of Wedding Crashers "we lost alot of good men out there"

I have been coming to Darien for the past 4 years, and im gonna have to say that this show was one of the better ive seen. Maybe this was a better show to me because i was under the shell, as opposed to the lawn. Sound quality under the lawn is pretty shitty (coming from a music major). Its a little better under the shell. I thought the setlist was great. He played Two Step, which was a first for darien in 10 years. Louisiana Bayou was fantastic and so was Carter in Say Goodbye. Yeah the parking situation was a load of shit, but i dont understand how you can be a Dave fan, go to a concert, and then say you hate it. It makes no sence to me. If your gonna pay 50 something dollars for tickets... u better like it. For all you who said the concert was horrible, trying drinking some more beers and hit the pipe a little more... cause this show was pretty good for darien.

Amazing, but when are they not? This was my first DMB concert and I was not dissappointed, I am now hooked. It was only a 6 hour drive to see him but I would drive for days to see them perform. Musical genius is what it is. The energy is always indescribable, to be united with thousands who share a joint interest in DMB and to have seen so many Canadians willing to travel great distances to have the privilege of the DMB experience was truly a reinforcement of patriotism. I'm an official addict.
