I had a good time at this concert, but overall I thought it was a really weak setlist. The highlights were Nancies and Bartender. Most of the people around me in Sec B Row 34 sat down for many songs. The crowd didn't seem to into it.

Great show! "What You Are" was a nice surprise after I thought I was going to hear another "Watchtower". I am sure there are a lot of great people in Pennsylvania but I don’t think I will be going back. Someone or some lame ass people stole my Virginia flag and a DMB flag off my flagpole. While the A-holes where stealing the flags they also broke the flagpole.

I thought this show lacked energy. It was a good show, but the set list was a little mellow for me. Personally I think the band needs to stop playing from the same core set of songs and throw in some more rare stuff.

Review:
my thoughts on hershey. it was an ok show. you could tell dave was tired and so his energy was a bit lackin but the others were ok. other than that there was nothing exceptional about the show. Nancies rocked, they played the first couple notes earlier in the show and the crowd went nuts. apparently they hadn't planned on playing that song at all. I like the new intro it was good times. and as most of you know that was dena and my song last year that we both "had to hear" so it was nice hearing it without having to travel too far. WYA was also a nice surprise. I haven't heard that since continental '03 (my first show) but it was short and it didn't have the satan intro like it did in 03. So as my friend lorraine and i were discussing it was fun, good times, but nothing really tremendous. The billies was the shortest version i've ever heard. there was no jamming at all most likely because of the strict 11pm curfew at hershey. They then jammed the hell out of YMDT and we were convinced it was going to be yet another 1 song encore for that venue. at which point dena and i vowed to not return if it was. laughing then they broke out WYA which was cool because it is rare but there was only 5 minutes left so we knew it couldn't come to much. i guess you could call this bitching. but i've been noticing the more shows i go to the more i look for something unique to stand out in each show. This show was fun but not in my top 10.

good show. not as god as Scranton. I dont mind the Stand Up songs and enjoy hearing some of them but the way there were mixed with the oldies just didnt flow right. Did get a #34 tease at my 34th show which was definitly sweet. Someone posted that it was the Boyd Tinsley show but although he rocked as usual i'd have to say it was the Carter show. He kicked the shit out of every song especially Hello Again, American Baby, and the best song of the night, Bartender (prolly the best Bartender ive heard out of 34 shows, the jam was amazing especially Carter killin the ending.) Only the second of 15 shows for me this summer so i wasnt dissappointed at all cause i know it can only get better. prolly sucked for the people who'll only be going to this show for the whole summer...good show, not as loud as Scranton, crowd was a little duds but still a great time.

This was one of my favorite shows because of the unique experiences I shared with the crowd that night. From tailgating to joining fans inside the venue, everyone was in good spirits and looking forward to participating in making this nice special. It was also the best version of "Lover Lay Down" I've ever seen.

Concert seemed to start off a little slow, didn't seem like the fans were really into it. Could have been the heat or I could just be comparing it to the crowd's reaction after Dancing Nancies, which was AMAZING! Seemed like if that were the opener the whole concert would have been much different. Overall though, the new album songs, I though, converted very well into live versions, especially Louisiana Bayou (also a good Boyd jam)so I was very pleased.

Great Time!!! Went with the wife and friends. The new stuff sounded great, jamming it out right now. A lot better then in roseland where they first broke em out. Set was kinda slow, but a good one to be at with my love. But then I got what I always want......NANCIES!!!!! Fucking sick!!!! In 28 shows I only got it twice, and those moments are why I keep going to shows. All in all it wasn't great, but very good.

I thought the show was pretty good if not a little short, however I think the lack of anything substantial influencing the show except for the new songs and the fact that I don't think most of the new stuff is their strongest material influenced me into thinking this was probably only the second best DMB show I've attended.

#34 tease and Lover Lay Down were my personal favs. Bartender was smooth. Billies and Nancies were great as usual. Glad that Nancies was added to the setlist 'casue that was a nasty tease they gave us early in the show. New song highlights -- Smooth Rider, Bayou, and Hello Again. Lowlights -- too many Stand Up songs. They're good in concert, but nine is simply too many. I am not a fan of When the World Ends -- figures they would bring it out during the only show I'll see this year. I had decent seats. Overall 6 out of 10 in rating and 2nd worst show out of nine I've seen. I still a good time, just a little Stand Up overkill, which was expected.

My first opportunity to hear the "Stand Up" songs live and they do play much better in shows than on the album. Over 50% of the songs were from "Stand Up" which is a bit too much for my liking, but Hershey is always a great venue and a ton of fun to see DMB.

This was my first DMB show. The crowd was dead most of the time. I got my wish when DMB played "Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd". They messed that one up as Dave vocals were way louder than Leroi's saxaphone. I was feeling hype when the song was played, as people around me sat down. I don't know if it's cuz Dave sat while playing that song... or it was just that new, that people didnt care to like it or whatever. Also I have all the concerts and DVDs. I didnt realize DMB plays as long as they do at the concerts. At the end of the night Dave said "Thank you very much , bye bye", I was like cool, I can go now. So here I go storming out of the building, I didnt get a hotel in town, so I had to drive back to MD.. big rush right? hour n a half away. About a mile or so outside of the concert stadium, I hear Dave playing more music. I was pissed and ready to run back but I figured what the hell. I've watched his concerts on DVD over n over and right before this concert I saw the AOL concert promoting stand up. So the next concert I go 2, I'll make sure when Dave says bye bye, to stick around for the Encore. DMB is the most talented band in the world. Overall I rate this concert a 7.5.

wow, i think im still sweating from the humidity... "it feels like a giant labrador is breathing on me" - dave brought out the electric for the first time ever during bayou. decent 34 tease and a kick ass nancies. i thought they were gonna play the whole stand up album... only left 4 songs out from it. decent show though, glad they decided to add nancies in the set even though it wasnt on the setlist or the show would have definately suffered.

The freaking heat damn near killed us all. It was close to 98 or 99 degrees, no shade in site, and standing around drinking on a big hot pavement parking lot was not a lot of fun, but the company could not be beat. The show was very good, Dave did mess up a few times, but I will just blame the heat :-). The setlist, was pretty uneventful and mellow, it just never seemed to pick up, but the performance was where it was tonight. See you all at SPAC next weekend.

This is a tough call; The band had a great, almost "Central Park-esque" energy for a few songs. HA,DN,TB,WYA were all some of the best versions I've ever seen. However, the show was hindered by a 20 min Bartender, a 15 min LLD, and an excrusiating Smooth Rider which took forever to end. WTWE drained the crowd as well, I could go w/out hearing that for a while. All in all it was OK. Definitely worth adding to your collection, even if you only listen once or twice.

Looking back, not my favorite show. Hershey as a venue sucks to begin with. The acoustics aren't great and the view sucks from all angles, causing people to crowd the floor mercilessly. While this wasn't so bad last year, this year it was 99 degrees during the concert! I got heatsick (I'm sure tailgating in the heat didn't help) and had to sit out for a while, but I still tried to have a good time.. something that can't be said for a lot of the crowd. The guys seemed hot and tired, and I guess you can't blame them for that -- they gave it their best. The setlist was disappointing, but hearing that much Stand Up wouldn't have been bad when accompanied by stronger oldies. Highlights.. Bartender, Nancies, LLD, Crash (though disappointing), and Billies (all firsts for me then). Good encore with WYA.

BUT, I was overall happy with the show. I agree with whoever said it was "Carter's Show", he was amazing, and never stops smiling! Being SO far away, we didn't notice any of the tech. difficulties although I agree that the "flow" was off. My first DMB show was an awesome experience despite the fact that I had not been that sweaty over the last few years, I did enjoy every moment of it. I admit that some songs lacked energy (especially at the beginning) and the crowd was probably the weakest I've ever seen in a concert... (The guy beside me spent most of its time looking at his watch, while a girl behind me was puking the hell out of herself.) My personal highlights : HFTGL was a good intro choice, WYA as a closer was a very very good suprise as well. Nancies was the best version I have heard so far. People who like the new songs were spoiled and the choice of older stuff was great as well.

First of all I must say that HersheyPark sucks! It was so much better years ago. Anyway the show tonight was average at best. The sound quality was rather poor early in the show and the energy from the crowd just wasnt there. I guess the new album doesnt sit well the fans. Highlights of the show were Nancies, Tripping, and Hello Again. What You Are has made an unfortunate return to the encore which just doesnt work for me. Hope the show in SPAC next Saturday is a little better. Ill give this one a C.

The band was really feeling courageous tonight, with half of their song selection from Stand Up. The songs are finally starting to sound good, with some great jamming. Louisiana Bayou is great, with Stand Up close behind. Boyd was on, and so was LeRoi. Great weather, decent fans, good show.

Pretty tame. The Stand Up songs were good (Stand Up shines live, so does Die Trying) Nancies was really energetic, but they subdued it with Stolen Away.. which isn't a bad song, just not the best time to play it. What You Are was a pretty decent closer. All in all a relaxed evening.

After the first three songs i was confused as to whether i was at the stand up release party or a summer concert. I like the new album but i've been listening to it for the last month and a half, that's not all i want to hear at a concert. Anyways, HA, LB and Die Trying i didn't mind hearing at all, they boys rocked them all out hard. Like the others have said, there was no existent flow to this years show and the set list left much to be desired. I wish they would let us hear something we don't get to hear to often if they are going to dominate the show with stand up material. I'm still waiting for a Pig, Two Step, #41 or Seek Up... I could have went without hearing Crash and WTWE for the 10th times, but WYA was an amazing treat. Anyways, good overall show, but now i'll definitely have to catch a few more, can't end the summer like this.

I've been reading alot of bad reviews about the crowd... it's ashame you all weren't standing in the same area as me next to the puke pile. The crowd was electric, everyone was signing. Maybe next time you all should learn, sitting in seats suck, unless you're first row. Noobs. Also I was curious if anyone else heard a Nancies tease, somewhere toward the beginning/mid. Great selection of Stand Up songs combined with a beautiful selection of classics, really made the Stand Up ones rock out. Personally I thought this concert experience was alot better than Montage. Hershey is always a reliable show, and got to learn a valueable lesson on what to do in an event of a massive vomit, pile garbage and shoes ontop of it.

Nice to hear all the new songs for the first time in concert.... they definately sound a lot better live. Wish the crowd was a little more into it.. and it was a little more of an upbeat show. But after a year off from Dave concerts... its great to be back.

The chocolate was melting as The Dave Matthews Band rolled into Hershey,Pennsylvania for their annual show, bringing with them high temperatures and thick humidity. "I feel like a giant labradore is breathing on me" as Dave put it. It was that hot. Despite the heat, the show itself started off very cold. My girlfriend and I made the treck out early, stopping at Funck's Family Restaurant simply because it was named Funck's family restaurant. Went to the amusement park then hung out in the lot. Met up with some old friends and then we made our way into the stadium. Opening band Blue Merle was good. Lead singer was trying to get everybody into it. The boys came out a little after 8:30. Started of slow with two tunes off of Stand Up. Not bad tunes its just not always great to start off with brand new songs. Things started crawling out of the gutter with a good version of Hello Again and then Granny. Bartender was fantastic. Hadn't heard it in awhile and I was hoping for it. He got the 12 string so i figured either Grey Street or Bartender. Didn't think he'd do a two song encore because of the curfew which kept it to one song the past couple years here. But he did. What You Are was what it has become. It's gone from a shitty Everyday song into a kick ass live song. "..Pray down on your knees, Motherfucker." Just hearing Dave yell that line at the top of his lungs right outside a family amusement park was great. Decent show. Headed to Live 8 with my dad and brother on July 2nd. Then Camden on the 5th for night one at Tweeter. Ya'll take care of yourselves till then. Rock on.

Overall this was a good show. I was hoping Dave would play off of the crowd a little more like he has done in the past at the Hershey shows, but he didn't. I thought Boyd was excellent!!! As well as Carter. Although it was not my favorite show, like I said, I thought it was good overall.

Summary of probably most of the posts on here: GOOD ----- 1. Hearing some of the new stuff live 2. I liked the vesion of Crash, LLD, and Bartender 3. The sweet aroma of second-hand pot smoke BAD --- 1. No freaking energy 2. Dave more worried about stage lighting and incompetent staff than jammin' songs 3. Setlist order just didn't work 4. No song transitions. All songs had long pauses in between them. 5. Too much of #3 of the good. 6. I think the band is getting too good live. They need to stop trying to create perfect DVD like material and just have some fun up on stage. Hell, sing Crush using the lyrics of Halloween. DMB still rocks so I'll probably keep buying my tickets no matter what I say/see/write/hear. Stormrunner at Hershey is a sweet ride as usual!

This was, well, different. Didn't seem like the band was really into and I would blame that on the oppresive heat. Really enjoyed Nancies and Bartender. Once again, I really hate the Nazi security at Hershey. This is more than likely the last time I will see them there. There are other venues close by that are much more fan friendly. Undercover cops in the parking lots; what the hell is up with that....

TOO MUCH Stand up!!! And the setlist didnt flow right. But with the exception of WTWE all of the older were really great. Energy level was overall good. Top song went to Bartender. Worse song a toss-up between WTWE and Smooth Rider (only because it was draqgged out. should of been short like the studio version.)I give 2 and a 1/2 out of 5!!! I think next years Hershey show will be better when they filter out a lot of the stand up songs.

It was another great show at Hershey Park. The energy level was excellent, the place was completely packed, 30,000 strong. I would say that the setlist selection was a little bit down from the last two years. Not a big deal though, considering one of those shows was the historic 9/11/03 show. Great sunset during Crash Into Me. Other setlist highlites include: Hello Again, Granny, Lover Lay down, Dancing Nancies, Tripping Billies, Die Trying, and What you are. Great Drum solo during HA, LLD was a great surprise, my first time hearing it, dave kinda teased it, but then played it and everyone loved it. WYA was an excellent return and a very cool new intro. See you tomorrow night at the Stone Ridge.

Maybe I attended a different DMB show tonight than everyone else but that was by FAR the WORST show I have ever seen. There was no energy, the sound sucks (expected for hershey) but the volume was extremely low throughout the show and was significantly higher during the encore. Dave was instructing tech people throughout the show about the lighting (especially on stolen away), and the set list was the worst of the tour. When will we see WTWE leave set lists for good. The crowd was not into the show at all and the band looked like they felt the same way. I have never seen more disappointed dave fans leaving a concert in my life and I would be shocked if they went back to hershey after this show. This was my third show at Hershey and will be my last. I have been to 25 shows and this is the only one where I felt that the performance did not justify the price of the ticket. Getting out of the Hershey lot was a mess and the civil engineer who designed that parking scheme should have his/her degree taken from them. Hopefully they pick it up tomorrow night at nissan.

Excellent show. Haven't gotten a Billies since '99! Yeah, I know they've played it plenty of times, but we always seem to miss it. Paid for it by getting When the World Ends. Review:
The only people who could have enjoyed this show are fans who started listening to DMB after the everyday album came out. anyone who has been following dave for years would realize how much this show sucked. This is very evident in the rest of the reviews. People who have attended many shows say it was bad and people who have only been to a couple say it was awesome. LLD was sweet and Nancies was solid, also nice to hear Tripping Billies but they definately didn't have enough older songs to make up for the new shit. The new songs just don't have the substance the old ones do. Don't get me wrong, I love DMB and even a bad show, as this one was, is still better then most any other band I could go and see. The heat could have contributed and the shitty venue, but this was no where near what was played at hershey 2 years ago and until he limits his play of the new songs he won't have a concert like that for a long time to come.

Can't believe the usually incredibly astute AM staff missed the #34 opening tease. The last time I saw a show at Hershey they put in a virtually inaudable (even on recordings) "I'll Back You Up Tease" and then Dave and Stefan play the first 10 seconds of a song and they botch it? Interesting. Great show though, Granny was a treat as well as Hello Again and Nancies. Finally heard Tripping Billies too after 12 shows. Very Stand Up dominated, but that wasn't a bad thing. Was surprised by the lack of material from BTCS, thought that at least Stay or Crush would make the encore or maybe PNP --> Rapunzel, but I guess we'll see tomorrow in Va.

been to each hershey show since 1999 and this was definitely the worst......too much from Stand Up, only 6 songs not from Everyday or Stand Up......55th and 3rd in my opinion is the slowest, most lame and repetitive song in the band's repertoire, Lover Lay Down and Crash (though classics) only slowed things down more.....nothing from my fav album BTCS.....best of the show: What You Are (though not closer material), Granny (I love Granny), Bartender was amazing and definitely the high point of the night

I thought the show was incredible. This being my 3rd show this year, I was once again blown away by the guys. I'm surpised about some of the negative opinions, but there was a 34 tease and 3 strong songs to open from Stand Up, Hunger, Dreamgirl, and Hello Again. The next 3 oldies, granny, crash, and one of the most incredible Bartenders I've ever heard. It was nice to hear the standard songs from Stand Up. Lover lay down, and Nancies were flat out amazing to hear tonight. Stolen away was cool, but Billies to close out the show just topped the evening. With YMDT and a dark What You Are for an encore, was just icing on the cake. The hershey show was another great show, and there was some sick energy on the stage tonight. Dave even broke out the electric guitar on Louisiana Bayou and What you Are.

I left the show not feeling energized at all. First of all, Dave came on stage very late, like around 8:40 and then he closed his encore at 11. It definately was the shortest show i've seen. I've only been to 6 shows before but for some reason the whole concert left me a bit disappointed, especially after all of the rave reviews i've been reading from all the shows this summer. I guess I'm just used to seeing shows with more variety rather than just playing nearly an entire album with a few classics here and there. The entire evening had a very mellow feel due to the song selection and the crowd wasn't nearly as energetic as i've seen in hershey before. Overall, I am not saying that it was a bad show and a lot of the new songs were pretty cool to here live especially Bayou, that rocked. I would rank this on the lower end of past shows that I have seen, but still not bad. Can't wait till the next tour when he can mix it up a bit more and not promote the new album.

This was my 4th show. I have to say that I was fairly dissapointed. I like the new album and it definitely does sound better live but the show seemed lackluster. This was probably due to the humidity which affected the crowd (they just weren't all that into it). I believe the band was affected by the crowd's lack of energy. Carter was sick with his drum solos though. The setlist made it look like a better show than it actually was. However the highlights for the evening for me were Granny, Dancing Nancies, Lover Lay Down, Billies, and Hello Again. Note to DMB, try to limit the number of times you close with What You Are. I like the song but I don't think (and I believe many would agree) that it's strong enough to be a closer. The show was 3 out of 5 for me. Unfortuntately it was the worst of 4 shows I've seen so far. Tomorrow will rock definitely rock. I can feel it.

I must say this though... it certainly looked like the Boyd Tinsley show tonite... kicked f#@kin ASS! Rocked Louisiana Bayou, Nancies, and Billies!!! Loved the "Fight fire with fire" outro jam on American Baby... was nice to hear the tour debut of WTWE... Hello Again Granny ... and a powerful What You Are to round it out. Gotta say... I loved rocking it out for 3 hours... much better to do it surrounded by 100,000 friends than by myself in my car... just more fun!

The band was definitely stronger than ever at Hershey; however, the song selection was a little disappointing. Boyd didnt hog the stage as much as usual, and Carter blew us away to an even greater extent than usual. There were a power five songs: hello again, tripping billies, nancies, louisiana bayou, and stand up. Stefan finally got some of the spot light, and leori was as good as ever. The band was full of energy. However what you are as the final song was a terrible choice, but the band was more crisp than ever and showed off their new unity. this is my 6th year in a row at hershey, and those power five put it among my favorite. take out what you are, smooth rider, and you might die trying, and throw in two step, or watchtower, and it would have been the best in 6 years.
