Wow, Dave during the day! Not at night! Totally different! Beer was so expensive though! But you got a cool cup! I was amazed at how well it all worked out. i parked so close to the entrance and ended up right down in front (NO VIP) I thought it would be a DVD with the floating camera taking shots of the crowd, oh well a LIVE TRAX CD is good enough. The band never ever gets old! Way to go Santana!

I thought this show was incredible! It was the closest I've ever been to the stage...I was right up against the front railing and over to the right a little ways. Regardless it was a whole new experience for me being so close and really being able to see all of these guys just go nuts on their instruments and play their asses off!!! I loved it...great song choices...and I loved the surprise of Carlos Santana!! :-)

Got to the park at midnight. One of the "original 20" there. Stood in line for 13 hours. Gates open and I ran my ass off--had to stop half way through to take my birkenstocks off. Made it to about the 10th row, but then found a spot by one of my line buddies. Ultimately made it to 3rd/4th row. So exhausted, hopped up on adreneline and overwhelmed that I started crying when Dave came out. The best concert I've ever been to. Closest I've ever been to the band. Santana rocked--best Watchtower I've heard. Glad DMB did some old tunes. Amazing.

Crowded and warm but a relaxed vibe over all. When Dave brought Carlos Santana out, I don't think most were expecting this. The crowd went nuts. Plus I got to hear one of my favorites which has yet to make it to an album, Sugar Will.

frickin macked out!
Unlike litlyellaflame, i enjoyed the fact that the VIP lines were opened up to all tickets. Me and my family got there around 8 a.m. and were still in a huge line (one of the all access lines). My dad went on a walk, and he stumbled onto the VIP line. He asked the security guy (Rickie was his name, he was Mint!) what that line was for, and he said: "It was VIP but now its open to everyone." My dad called us up there, and there was only 10 people in front of us. Because of this I got 2nd row Center!! Totally Random luck, and it was sooo, awesome to sit that close. I thought it was funny that the security guards in front of the stage didn't even mind that people were taking pics and videos, so I got some nice ones.
Oh, yeah, Santana ROCKED! Best Watchtower EVER!

What a tremendous day and outstanding performance. Really, the only thing that I missed from this show was the ambiance that you normally get from a night time show with the lights and all. But, the band was very energetic and by the looks on their faces and the constant smiles you could tell that they were just having a great time playing for the masses.
The special appearance by Carlos Santana was incredible and to hear him add his style to the performance (especially All Along The Watchtower) was great!
Major props to all involved in putting on a tremendous show and charity event.
My first trip to San Francisco was incredible and the city was very enjoyable as well.

This was one of the best shows ever! I flew from Pittsburgh, saw the soundcheck the day before and was one of the first 100 people in Golden Gate Park-- 3rd row right infront of the stage! The show was amazing and high energy, but the crowd SUCKED. It was the most pitiful thing I have ever seen, it appeared as though people just wondered into the park and oh, hey, a concert is playing. Let's sit around and chat. Still, Dave was awesome and the surprise appearence of Santana was sweet.

Dear God, my mind was blown. Simply the best concert I have attended and that includes my first (which is second). Dave broke strings on his guitar in three straight songs! Stay on the recording is a remix because Dave was way out of tune live since he was playing so hard during Mr. Carlos Santana. I will never forget this concert. It does rival Central Park.

Overall a fun experience. Pretty typical show, strayed only a couple times, sweet scatting on Jimi Thing. Of course the highlight was Carlos Santana and Watchtower. This is pretty much what I've come to expect from the DMB of 2004. They still manage to put on a good show but they will never be like the DMB of 99 and 00. Getting out of the Polo Fields was an absolute nightmare though.

Amazing concert. 6th (3rd of tour) show and was blown away by it all. OSW was great opener and WWYS was very strong. SMTS->PNP->Rapunzel was great to hear again. im a huge fan of joyride already, so great to hear it again. #41 (new intro) was beautiful w/#36 outro (good to hear the few who recognized it singing too!). BOWA was solid, followed by LIOG. Boyd was on fire for both the short and long solos and the band was full of energy. Stone, simply amazing. DIDO - lots of older songs, nice to hear. Loving Wings is amazing and WAYG is solid. Hello Again = Carter is God with a tremendous solo, yet again. Jimi Thing was simply absurd: the scat was even better than CP, no joke. dave speaks into the mic, "we'd like to welcome a special friend of ours... its a great honor to share the stage with Mr. Carlos Santana!!" On comes the God-like guitarist in his all white clothes and beanie ready to rock. This is when the crowd finally became completely crazy (were a little weak in the beginning). Warehouse, Sugar Will, Watchtower - Santana on guitar made for the best versions of each of the songs ive heard. Amazing. Stay closer. alot of people started leaving because they dont know DMB's encore tradition. Everyday was nice to hear and Too Much was solid with dave having a nice scat to close out the concert. Best show ever, seriously. Crowd was a bit lame at times, but to the awesome DMB fans, thanks! Great way to wrap up this tour.

gankmore fuck you! you are a piece of shit, how the fuck can you say that Santana is lame. Any real music fan knows that Santana is a music god and whether or not you enjoy what he plays you have to respect it. Now on to the show....i thought it was awesome, great set although the crowd seemed a little weak. Warehouse, Watchtower were awesome and Santana was amazing when he played. Last year's Central Park show was better, maybe the time of day, or maybe because Central Park is so legendary...either way Golden Gate was still a good set and a good time with good people. Can't wait for the CD/DVD.

Wow! After going to Central Park last year there was on way i could miss this show once i heard they were putting it together. My buddy and I flew in from Cincy, OH. Got a decent spot in the line at 9am and met a really nice couple from denver and a group of 4 friends from NYC. We all got along and switched phone #s to help each other out get up close we made the mad dash from the rear of the feild and got everybody into the "prefered viewing" an amazing 20' from the stage absolute perfect view! The concert got underway and the guys seemed to blow everybody away as usual. Dave pulled in "For What's It Worth" just as he did in NYC. Then I had this feeling a guest would be nice right now and as that i saw the techs bring out amps and other equipment, i told my friend that it looks alot like santana's stuff next thing i knew i was witnessing a legend before my eyes. He tore up watchtower making it the best vesion i've heard. Although it would have been nice to hear "Love of my life" carlos made the concert even more amazing. But as all good things, they must come to an end sooner or later. Thanks DMB!

This was an interesting show. My first and last show of the summer tour sadly. Also my first time hearing the new songs from this tour. It wass a great venue though and brought back fond memories of Central Park. Not that it was anywhere comparable to the caliber of that show, but it was still an excellent show in it's own right. The presence of Santana pretty much made the event for me. Definitely one for the books.

A fantastic show under the sun in San Francisco. A mixed crowd of diehard fans and city socialites took in the music and, for those that stayed for the roughly three hour concert, they heard a long setlist full of DMB classics from the 90's.
Special guest Carlos Santana stood in to play Warehouse, Sugar Will, and AATW--all three renditions immediately became the best version of each song in my 10 years of seeing Dave live. Specifically, Santana helped to transform Sugar Will into a beautifully complex two-guitar tune and made the song, one that I really did not like in earlier summer concerts, a welcome jazzy addition to the DMB library. My hope is that the band can get Carlos to play with them in the studio when they place this song on their forthcoming album.
Other highlights included personal best performances of LIOG and Jimi Thing. The jam during LIOG, always a pleasure to hear live, was longer than I remember at other shows and very well played; funny how even though you know this song so well, a part of you still is surprised when Dave sings, "I can't believe..." following the mid-song jam that gently fades into silence. Jimi Thing had a great outro in which he scatted and got the crowd to singalong with pieces of Buffalo Springfield's "Everybody Look What's Going Down," a likely nod to San Francisco's hippie roots.
Other live favorites included #41, The Stone, Hello Again, Everyday/#36 and an excellent series in which the band played SMTS > ASTB > PNP > Rapunzel. Once again, Joy Ride and Loving Wings were played, virtually cementing their place in the next album. Loving Wings was disappointing because it is a song that listens better during an evening concert under the stars; in addition, a lot of people--casual fans--found this song to be a good time to talk and make a run to one of the various concession stands lining the field. Perhaps the omitted Crazy-Easy or a more familar song would have kept up the energy.
The encore was well played, but I would have preferred hearing Too Step, Dancing Nancies, Typical Situation, Tripping Billies, or Ants added to the set to follow the pattern of clasic DMB songs. However, Too Much was fantastic and Dave had a lot of energy as he scatted and sang a happy goodbye to the remaining fans that were diligent enough to stay for the final set--following a long break.
The Golden Gate Park show did not include many rare songs, and it was rather frustrating to hear most people not singing along to #36 and not going wild when the first notes of #41 were played, chalk this up to a free show which included a lot of casual fans and first timers; but, the band was tight--jamming seemingly effortlessly--and played a lot of extended songs, Dave had plenty of power behind his voice and dancing shoes, and Carlos Santana blew minds with his signature strumming. Taking all this into consideration, it is easily one of the top 3 shows I have seen from the band and, perhaps, one of the better shows of the current concert tour.
Look forward to getting this one on DVD/CD sometime soon; multiple cameras could be found in and around the venue, including the telltale camera that hovered above in a helicopter for the duration of the show.

I think the show went from great to amazing with the 4-song sequence of Jimi Thing-Warehouse-Sugar Will-Watchtower. Jimi Thing especially was absolutely incredible (possibly best ever), with Dave's anti-Bush scat. Carlos Santana was awesome, a great surprise, and he and Dave together took Sugar Will to another level. Wish I'd had VIPs though, but where I was was not bad (right under first tower on the left). The show was definitely worthy of a CD/DVD release, and why not? They can raise even more money for the charities while letting us all relive it over and over and over. The crowd was a bit lame, though. And WHO THE F*** WOULD EVER LEAVE A DMB SHOW EARLY!?!?!?!?!?!?

This was THE best show I've seen this year!!
The opener was???? Wish it was someone else higher quality but what can I say, it was a charity concert. It doesn't make sense to hire someone expensive...too bad we couldn't find a good local band to perform. The crowd was not into it as the usual gig but again it was probably because it was a charity concert. I still had a blast being a hippie chik.
I really hope this to be released as a live concert DVD.

A great day in the park, huge crowd but well controlled. Santana was lame.
Edited 9/14: I'll stick by what I've said. Santana was lame. He isn't lame by nature, I enjoyed the 1999 Fillmore run he did, but I thought his work at this show was disapointing. I respect the guy, he just didn't do much for me. Also as far as being a God, I think "Supernatural" pretty much killed that argument all together.

Great. Flew down from seattle in the morning and took bart to downtown took the trolley to polo fields and walked in just like all the other 60000 people that showed up. Ran and got inside the barricaded area got wristbanded and got all my friends in by taking off my wristband and getting more until all my friends were in the wristband area only (the triangle) good scam it works. But thats what you have to do if the girls that came with dont want to run like mad. Anyways awesome show, Santana on sugar will speechless and then watchtower and previously 18min jimi thing into buffalo springfield just like he did at nyc central park. This time the crowd was into it. Best set ive seen ever. They even sell as dmb live trax get it its worth the investment.

Easily, a top 3 show reflecting back (I have been to 19 across the country as I write this, 6 show when I saw it). I am writing this review in August of 2008, thought I would take a few years, and let this show settle in. Truly a solid setlist that flowed very well, the only arguable flaw would be WAYG. This show has the best opening run of 9 songs in a row. Also, it has the 2004 songs that might never be heard again with Joyride, Hello Again, and Sugar Will. Throw in a DIDO, Stone, early version of Loving Wings. Also, it doesn't get much better when Santanta comes out as a guest. He tears up Warehouse towards the end, around the 4:20 mark on the CD, one of the best versions of Sugar Will (the only other version to compare to is 7/23/2004 with Jamal Millner at Virgina Beach), and an unbelievable version of WatchTower. Towards the end of WatchTower it sounds like they don't want to stop jamming.
Also, the venue was a very magical place. You could feel engery there before the show ever started. The latter is most likely due to what happened there in the '60s. I would say what I felt was that everyone was connected together as "one" by the end of Rapunzel. I remember going to the bathroom during Stay, and looking down at 70,000 people, just an unreal feeling.
I remember that my friend, and I stuck around to help clean up, and buy a t-shirt. We where some of the last people to leave, I rememeber looking at the sun set over the stage, and just thinking Wow I'll probably never experience anything like this ever again. 3 years later, have never experienced anything like it (and I just went to the 8-08-2007 Camden show. Great show, but a different engery).
Finally, it took me and my friend about an hour to find our way out of Golden Gate Park, and to find the bus stop. Fun place to get lost in.

Best part of this show was watching my 3 year-old dance to live DMB. It was the first show I'd seen since 2001, when my son was still in my wife's belly. I was sick as a dog, but wasn't going to miss it. They played my son's favorite song, What Would You Say. He sang and danced. It was awesome. But then he got too scared by all the people, so we had to move to the end of the park. He eventually fell asleep on my shoulder and we moved closer when Santana came out to play. (2nd time seeing Santana w/ DMB. What luck!) I remember dancing around with him on my shoulder singing loudly (and poorly) to Watchtower. It's even more special that they made this a live trax album and I have a chance to relive the show anytime I want.

Awesome, just awesome. We were SO close to the stage (got there at 5am) and it was great. Hello Again is fantastically angry. AATW was superb, Dave broke strings! Stephan and Boyd's solos were kick ass. Santana was such a shock, the crowd went nuts! I loved that Dave had a solo and I vey much enjoyed his scatting and rant against certain politicians. SO great. Ending with Too Much was so fun. I was exhausted, my voice was shot, my feet hurt, but I still sang my heart out. Bravo DMB!

What a DAY! I was bummed when we arrived at the VIP line and were greeted by a very rude group at the front (no display of "dave-love there!!). Some fool had mistakenly allowed all ticket types to line up where VIP only's were suppossed to be.
All was well after we were let in, an awesome display put on at the BBQ! But where was the wine????? Oh well. 30 feet from the stage, VIP was worth it. Watched a guy propose to his girl during the 3rd song, she accepted, it was sweet! Carlos was sooooooo Carlos! What could be better than Dave and Carlos playing Jimi so near 'the Haight'?!?!? Good good day Dave!
Oh, the kicker.... passed Boyd' bus from San Fancisco to LA today (9-13) - license 'True Reflections' - sweet. Hope he was in there.

We won this trip through a "caller #..." contest on the way back from a vacation after we got engaged so just that made it sweet. The setlist was phenomenal. LOVED the "So Much to Say-->Anyone Seen the Bridge-->Pantala Naga Pampa/Rapunzel" transition. It was unexpected and worked! Plus
CARLOS SANTANA! Im not surprised they made this into a Live Trax.

OK setlist, but great show. I had an incredible time chilling with 50,000+ DMB fans on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. It was an incredible place to experience a show. Everyone was very chill back where I was sitting (second tower on the left side of the field, with the screen on it). Even though I would've liked to hear different songs, it might have been the best concert experience I've ever had. 'Course I've never been to the Gorge...

This was a great show. I am so excited for the new cd, I love the new songs and can't get them out of my head. I was so happy to hear almost all of my favorites at this show and see that the boys dressed up for the occasion (Stefan in a collared shirt instead of a tee shirt). #41, LIOG, Warehouse, Stay, Everyday w/ #36. We got a late start that morning so we weren't too close to the stage but overall it was okay. It was much different being near the back with the fare-weather fans than being in the 8th row in Carson. Not as much dancing, singing and too much sitting and talking (We were the only ones singing #36). Carlos Santana on Watchtower... UNBELIEVABLE... dream come true. Dave's scats durring Too Much were awesome and is it just me or was he doing a little Dave Chappelle/Lil' John "What? What? Okay!" at the end. All in all ...I love San Francisco! What a way to end a summer with my lucky 13th show.

It was a beautiful day, beautiful crowd, beautiful music. Boo!!!! To the couple who actually fell asleep during Watchtower. Who the heck falls asleep at DMB?!! Thanks to the unbelievable woman who gave me her blue wristband! You made my first DMB show, the experience of a lifetime.

This was probably the best concert I've ever been to. There were so many people there it was just amazing. I got in line at 9am. About 7 minutes after they started letting people in that area by the stage was blocked off. I was really happy I got there early. I was even happier when I went to the bathroom and saw how many people were there.
CHEERS to the people in the VIP section, they kept giving me beers, which was really really really nice.
Carlos Santana was awesome!~!~ I got myself to the front when he came on and it was amazing. You could tell DMB was just having a great time jamming with Santana.
I'm hoping they put out a DVD/CD for this show, I expect that they will :). AWESOME. I'm sooo sun burned, but it was just a great time. ROCK ON

At this concert I had one of those "Is this really happening?!" moments when Carlos Santana came onstage. This was one of the best DMB shows that I have attended and definitely the best "free" concert I have ever been too (I bought the ticket on ebay and had to buy a plane ticket to SF, so it ended up being not so free, but worth every penny!)

Absolutely fantastic show, one that I will always remember. The greatest moment of the show for me was definitely Watchtower with Santana just rocking out, it seemed like the boys just didn't wanna stop and they really let Carlos let loose. After a song I will usually cheer and go nuts, you know the drill...but after Watchtower I just held my hands over my forehead and said to myself "Oh my GOD, I can't believe that I just witnessed that"...the whole afternoon was like that to a certain extent. I was in the preferred viewing section about 10 rows of people back with a perfect view of the entire band.

I won't bore you with all the songs and what they did or ment but all I can say is if you love Dave and you weren't there, you really missed out! I splurged and skipped school, flew in from Austin, and on top of that I bought VIP tickets, but it was all worth it! Thanks to everyone up front in the VIP area for making this show so special. The crowd over there was great, we all gave hugs during Everyday if that shows you how much love was in the air! I can't wait until next year I will be going all over.
Thanks yall

seriously we were as front row as i have ever been...roomate and i drove up from socal, got in really late at night, parked on the street near golden gate park...moseyed around for a bit, stopped at the local KFC and nurished our bodies (hahaha), snick around the poo grounds for a while trying to get a glimpse of the band...found a couple of roadies that need a ride to their hotel and of course we obliged them...they proceeded to tell us all hese wonderful things about dave and the band and we felt so priveleged to have known these guys, when in reality they were nobodies, but anywho...slept in the car on the side of the road in downtown san fran (good thing we wernt near the castro) woke up bright and early...walked down into the park and saw a multitude of people already in line...we kinda mingled our way to the front, then the waiting began, we waited in this same friggen line for like 5 hours...finally they opened the gates, and we, well actually my roomate ran all the way up to the front of the fields and plopped down saving us a spot right dead center about 12 inches from the railing up front...then we waited again, got to hear DJ Z-Trip which ws really cool..then the show started...it was amazing, at that point the best show i had ever seen of the band...SMTS~ASTB~PNP~rapunzel...nuff said, it was amazing.....wow thats a long one...but it was a ridiculously amazing experience

Despite poor transportation (I understand the town was busy, bike race, concert, opera in the park, and football game) I had a blast. Thanks to SF and all the DMB fans I met along the way. I came from Kansas and had a great time. Santana was just a added bonus. My friends with me were not the huge DMB fan I am, but they even flipped when Santana was annouced. I kinda wanted some different songs, but all in all, the setlist was great and the energy of the band was apparent, even if all the crowd didn't understand it. What't next? A big concert in the heart of the country. I recommend taking over some small town like Emporia, KS and turning the place into the largest DMB outing ever. Thanks again DMB.

"Who wants some dmb? How bad?"... thats the question posed when we get these huge dmb shows. everyone has their fair chance to have whatever experience they want. I got to the park at 7:30am, and found this alternate entrance on the far side, and was one of the first 50 in line. Met some cool kids from AZ, who thought that CA was sunny all the time and arrived in short sleeved shirts and shorts...whoops! When time came, i sprinted my fat ass across the polo fields, and staked my place in the 12th row. So much energy from the guys, CARLOS SANTANA, great song selection (i got my song!), nice crowd energy... in the front, i was surrounded my people who really wanted to be there, so it was a wonderufl time. except for the sunburn! SFxDMB+SANTANA= concert orgasm. (was it good fer you to?)

I flew out to visit my friend in L.A. and drove up to San Francisco for the show a day early, which turned into a nightmare; there wasn't a hotel in sight with vacancies available. We drove around for three hours looking for a hotel. The next day we were late for the concert because we thought it started in the late evening instead of early afternoon, but when we finally arrived at the concert, it was all worth it. This is one of the best setlists that I've ever seen. #41 with the everyday outro was awesome along with Rapunzel, Stone, Hello Again, Lie in our Graves, and Best of what's Around. I couldn't believe it; I mean my jaw just dropped when Dave announced Santana was the guest, and man did he rock, especially on Watchtower. Even though we missed the first 6 songs, this concert absolutely rocked!!!!!

It was the longest line I have ever had to stand in for a show but it moved very fast. A film crew drove up and down the line. Once in we picked up a pin from a local radio station as part of a contest to win VIP passes worth 250 a each. We were seen with the pin and handed the passes. The VIP Passes let us up front which was fenced off from the rest of the field. Free food and drink back stage and up front it was an awsome first time for me. It was my first DMB show and it wont be my last.
