It was the best birthday I ever had

Just when I was getting dissapointed with DMB, Dave goes and totally reminds me why I became a fan in the first place... I'm a sucker for the free-form stylings of Dave and Tim, and I've grown tired of the cut-and-dry DMB performances of late ... What do you get when you add a mini Dave and Tim show as the opener to Dave and Friends? One sick show. I was sitting in the second row of section 1 (half-court if we were at a Celts game on the right hand side). So, the tunes, the vibe? WASTE!?!? They haven't played that tune in over a year, and Trey does a wonderful job as a surrogate Timmy (who am I kidding, they both rule in their own right). The covers!?! Tell me something good, American Tune, Will It Go 'Round, Hey Bulldog, Solsbury Hill... Holy poop. You know its a sick show when they open with Bartender, and everyone there knew it. Obviously Dave wasn't looking for an intimate setting: Fleet Center, lightshow, seats behind the stage, so no Davespeak aside from, "Drink your fluids, it is the cold anf flu season" - but smiles galore... Tim and Trey were in top form - and I honestly couldn't care less about anyone else up there on an individual basis, but the dynamic of the whole group was a refreshing break from the increasingly predictable DMB... Not a single complaint (with the exception that the whole group would have done a sick job at any of the following omitted crowd pleasers: Jimi Thing, Warehouse, Two-Step). Do yourself a favor, and grab one of these shows from the antsmarching downloader (the Chris Jones tape of this show is FANTASTIC), or request a B&P - you will not be dissapointed.

This show was a nice change of pace. Dave and Tim were amazing, of course. The whole night was a great time, the cover songs and Waste with Trey sealed the deal for me :)

Dave Matthews brought some of his "friends" to the Fleet Center, as Dave Matthews, Trey Anastasio, Brady Blade, Tony Hall, Ray Paczkowski and Tim Reynolds rocked the night away with an eclectic mix of songs both new and old. The Dave and Tim opener contained the usual staples that were found in last spring's D&T tour. Bartender was a great opener and really pumped the crowd. Crush gave Tim a chance to show off some of his licks- it's really amazing how much pizzazz Tim brings to the game. Pay For What You Get was well done, and even had the Norwegian Wood outro from last spring's tour. Dancing Nancies was an excellent choice to end the set, however the intro was kept short and did not include the usual "Could have I been" statements. After the set break Dave came back out with the full ensemble. Dodo was as an opener was awesome- reminds me how good the song is as an opener to the Some Devil album. The group really jammed out this songs- bringing a more DMB feel to the solo tracks. Energy kept building and building up and it peaked with Solsbury Hill. The crowd exploded to hear a new cover Dave has brought this tour. The group then chilled out with Gravedigger, Cripple Creek, and American Tune. Again, a lot of covers in this tour bring a new sound to fans that have seen Dave Matthews before. Emmylou Harris went out to sing a rarely heard version of Oh Sister. Tell Me Something Good was awesome; hearing all these different songs really got the crowd excited. Hey Bulldog had a catchy beat, and was a good end to the regular set. Dave and Trey went out and both sang 1one DMB song (Everyday) and one Phish song (Waste) a real treat for the audience. Will It Go Round in Circles got the whole group going, and they seem to really enjoy playing it. All in all, Dave and friends brought some classic Dave tunes, new Dave tunes, and some awesome covers together resulting in a truly unique night of music.

Fantastic set. I never get tired of those covers! Change is sometimes good and I was glad I got to see Dave with different musicians and feel like he could be a little more free.

I didn't really know how this would go, but it was perfect, better than I could've imagined. There was such incredible chemistry between Dave and his friends and so much energy, I was just blown away. The highlight for me was definitely Waste with Dave and Trey. Absolutely perfect. Great show, hope to see more in the future.

Another great show by D+T and then the Friends. PFWYG and Typical by Dave and Tim totally blew me again. Amazing. Another Dodo opener, this time 100 times more powerful than Providence with a "Rain Down on Me" outro of dave screaming over and over. Again, a quality high energy show. Emmy Lou joined Dave for a cover od Bob Dylan's "Oh, Sister" that was beautiful, along with the cover of "American Tune" by Paul Simon. Solsbury hill got the crowd jumping once again and it was a solid set. I was dead center in the second section back so it was a great view the whole night. Then came the encore. The crew set up 2 chairs and mics by the middle/right side of the stage. Out walk Dave and Trey for acoustic versions of Everyday and Waste. Band came back out and did a great version of "Will it go 'round in circles" by Billy Preston. Got a setlist and a limited edition poster which will look great framed together. Another fun show and I had a great time.:)

FLEET center acoustics are horrible. There is nothing else to say. It sounded like mud. And why have Emmy Lou Harris if you aren't going to sing with her except for once? I'm writing this on 7/7/04 after the best concert experience of my life last night at TWEETER/Mansfield. I say boycott bad-sounding music. It sucks. Well... OK. There were some good Dave/Trey moments, I admit!

WOW! This is what it's all about. D+F really turned it out tonight. The Fleet was arockin'. stellar show, all except for the freaking idiot chick who went psycho on me for "siitting in her seat" which we were sat in by Arena Staff by accident! My apologies again to my whole section for the brawl. Especially during PFWYG.Dunkin' Donuts center was great but this show knocked the socks off that show! When Dave and Trey ever ripped off the first few chords to "Waste", I lost it! That's by far one of my all time favorite tunes. I literally bawled my eyes out. It was such a fabulous concert moment. Loved every single second of this show!!!!!
