I traveled 1700 miles for this show, and it was worth it. This was a great show. The last show ever played at Mile High. Ben Harper came out and played steel slide on Watchtower, he also did vocals for the first verse, very Jimi Hendrix like.

Great sound! 25+ minutes for first 2 songs! Ben & Dave do Watchtower! Awesome!!! seats could have been better I guess but worth the 22 hour road trip nonetheless.

We flew out to Colorado to see this show with my sister, her husband, and my friend, Ed. Our seats sucked. The show was mediocre, at best, and the bus ride back downtown was painful. Probably the worst DMB experience I have had to date....!

Yes it was a 2000 show. It was my first DMB Show too. It has a great set on paper. But it was a very average 2000 show. Took about an hour for the band to take off. Just seemed slow and sluggish. No energy in the crowd until about halfway through the set. Ended with a bang though. Loved getting to hear the 4 LWS songs before I knew what they were. Sweet Up and Down, Bartender, Grace, Grey Street were all highlights. As was Say Goodbye and Watchtower with Ben Harper.

My first DMB show and unfortunately the acoustics (and my seat on the far side of the moon) led me to be disappointed, as my expectations were high.

Still a stadium, still not red rocks, but still, it was a DMB show in the sun.

It was my first show, and it remains my favorite. Watchtower was great, as everyone says, but Drive In Drive Out was also incredible. Also SUAD was fantastic to hear live.

First show! 17th birthday. Had a great night. Such a big place though. It was hard to focus in on the show. Ben Harper on Watchtower was special. The 4 new songs ended up being my favorite moments. Grace is Gone made me cry. Sweet up and Down, Grey Street and Bartender. Didn't know how good the show was until much later.

Loved how the show started Seek Up, it was real chill start, very mellow, great jam. I remember hearing some people complaining, "I thought Dave Matthews was supposed to be great live, this sucks. It's so slow." And I remember thinking, man, you're in the wrong place if you think this sucks. Encore was terrific and I enjoyed the opening acts, Ozomatli & Ben Harper.

I originally posted this on nancies.org on July 26, 2000. No edits have been made... this is what I said then and I stand by it. (If you are actually reading this.)

As many of you know, last year's Mile High Show was a terrible dissapointment to everybody involved. I was one of the few who had the guts (or the stupidity) to come out and say so. But Tuesday night was a reason for us to forget that dreadful night in 1999. Because DMB made their return to Mile High Stadium - the last concert ever at the big block of concrete. And after perhaps the best Watchtower ever, you wondered why the stadium demolition team didn't come in and add to the damage already sustained by the band. Simply put - the band blew the place apart. Ah, but we're getting ahead of ourselves here. Really, the show didn't seem like it would ever reach such a feverish tone. This is what happens when the band opens a show with "Seek Up." A smooth transition to the intro on "Listener Supported" followed by Rapunzel made for the coolest start of a show I have witnessed in nine DMB outings. Many in the crowd were quiet... waiting patiently for an explosion. It came afterwards with "Ants Marching." The rest of the set was equally delicious. The 50 thousand people strong sang "Love" and "Baby" louder than the lovely ladies during Granny; Best of What's Around had an interesting twist. But those are all classic DMB grooves... what about the new stuff? They were there as well. "Grey Street", "Bartender", "Sweet Up and Down". And the best of the night - Grace is Gone. The crowd was always respectful during the new jams. However, next year at about this time, when DMB drops by to play CU's field in Boulder, you can bet "Grey Street", or more likely "Grace is Gone", will be the new "Crash into Me." And everybody will yell and scream for it when the first chords get played. No problem really, because DMB will have nw material to work on by then... and the vicious cycle will always continue. Look at me, running out of space and I haven't even mentioned Ben Harper. Ben's set was very good, but his highlight came during Watchtower. His slide guitar/vocals on the song carried the song to a place it hadn't been since Farm Aid with Neil Young - and I say that just because Neil Young is a legend. A show with no lows and very many highs, the final concert ever at Mile High Stadium added to some of the best Broncos moments ever. The out-dated, non-corprate sponsered venue will be remember for more than just John Elway now. It's the place DMB helped bring down.

My husband surprised me for my birthday and we flew out to Colorado, stayed in the Presidential suite at the Embassy Suites and sat 8th row. Ozomatli and Ben Harper rocked the house -- but being 8th row to see DMB was incredible -- especially with it being the last concert to be played before tearing down the stadium. I honestly can't find the words to describe the experience.
