What the Live Trax 30 Release Means
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Live Releases at 4:29am on Monday, May 12th, 2014If you had a busy first week of May like some of us, you may have missed the most exciting live release announcement since the commencement of the Live Trax series: Live Trax 30. Among the packages available for sale is a bundle with a vinyl re-issue of the first album Remember Two Things. Live Trax 30 is songs from among the 3-days used to record the album (from live shows in 1993). That alone is awesome, but in reality it means a bit more. First, vinyl re-issues (providing R2T sells well and surely it will) are a given for all the studio albums. That means Under The Table And Dreaming can't be too far off. And by providing the source show for R2T, that's a bit of a 'behind the curtain' look at the band. That means that likely future studio re-issues could feature outtakes or alternative takes of songs, something many fans have been dying to hear.
The writing is on the wall: if Live Trax 30 and the vinyl does well, there will be more releases in that same vein. And there's no reason not to buy it; the song selection for Live Trax 30 is great, and the idea of having a vinyl of R2T appeals to even the non record-player. So keep that in mind when deciding to purchase; it will lead to other fantastic releases.
