Leaked: New Live Trax 44 brings first Blu-Ray

Posted by Joe M in Live Releases at 12:47pm on Wednesday, Oct 25th, 2017

If all indications from leaked photos and webpages are correct, the possible Christmas gift under your tree this year will be Live Trax Vol. 44: 9.4.16 from The Gorge Amphitheatre, and depending how good you've been this year then beyond the audio of the concert you could also get with it a foil poster, 2018 calendar, hoody, tshirt, blanket or more (all optional items being released with the Live Trax.) And if that wasn't enough, if you were extra-extra special you'll even get official high definition video (and hopefully high definition audio) of the show from the bands well overdue first Blu-Ray! (UPDATE: To be clear this is the first full band HD Blu Ray. LT40 MSG was from 2002 and not HD recorded. And Radio City was D&T.)

Never miss a Sunday show, especially when it's the final show before the band's year long hiatus (2017 #notour). That's exactly what this show is. And it packs an impressive setlist. Including The Stone opener, #41, Say Goodbye, Minarets, The Maker, Typical Situation, The Last Stop, Ants Marching, among too many to list. Check out the full setlist here. The show features guests Carlos Malta on woodwinds for Say Goodbye, The Maker, and Typical Situation, along with Joe Lawlor (touring crew member) on guitar for Rhyme & Reason.

What about the other 2 nights of the 3-day Labor Dave Weekend? There will be a bonus disc (Encore Trax - The Gorge Extended) that will contain songs from both the nights. It looks to be 8 tracks for Warehouse members and include Big Eyed Fish, Satellite, Granny, Recently, Cry Freedom, Rooftop, One Sweet World and Why I Am.

Of interesting note, this Live Trax / Show doesn't feature any of the "new songs" (the 2016 new touring songs like Bob Law, Samurai Cop, etc.) You might say, sure it just so happens this show didn't have them in the setlist, but then none of the songs to have made the bonus extended disc either? Hmm. We are still left with no band-released versions of these songs, which leaves you wondering if it's pure coincidence or intentional. Does the omission of these new songs have anything to do with the anticipated new album to be coming in the first half of 2018? It does seem a bit puzzling why none of the new songs made the bonus disc.

We still have to wait for the official announcement on all of this. As always when we report pre-announce news, everything is subject to change in the final days before announcement, that's just how the business works. We'll keep you posted on when we officially know more along with presale details. In the meantime, dust off that Blu-Ray player if you still have one.
