Welcome to the Ants v3!Posted by Joe M in Site News at 2:00pm on Tuesday, Jan 13th, 2009
With the building anticipation of the new album and the supporting Spring Tour to follow, 2009 is poised to be a very exciting year! This year AntsMarching.org turned 7 years young! (This past Friday, Dave Matthews’s birthday, to be exact.) So.... Happy Birthday to YOU! Antsmarching.org is really about each individual Ant that make up this great DMB/Ants community. In 2008 we set out to give the community a new fresh home and look (you know like that snazzy new shirt with the pocket you got). So I guess if you're reading this then the stars have aligned and it worked!
For those that have been around a while, you may remember the different versions the site has taken on over the 7 years. With each redesign our goals have been to increase ease of use, functionality, and style, and this time was no different. The new redesign goes for a cleaner look while still maximizing viewable content. And who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Ants V3 (as it's called in the doubting social circles) brings in Web 2.0 features that make the site easier to use and navigate. What we didn't want to do was completely rework the site where you had to relearn where everything is again (like remembering your work password after the holiday break.) So the site operates in much the same way but now with some new bells and whistles. A lot of focus was put into Tour Central to be the ultimate resource for info and stats. [points sore fingertips towards Matt.] Show pages have a new layout for getting details and now include additional info such as ticket prices, opener info, and the ability to upload ticket stubs and show setlists, along with all the previous things that make Tour Central great. Aside from redesign of the site, Jake, our resident Archivist/Historian/Field-Reporter/TTT (know the answer to that one? ;) ), has spent months (not hours, not days, not weeks) going through old DMB mailing list archives and show notes and updated shows to include even more detail. Many other parts of the site have been tweaked and updated also. But that's not all
We hope you enjoy the site update, let us know what you think. We are looking forward to a great 2009!
