2020 Ants Album of the Year Voting (Due: Dec 30th)

It's the most wonderful time of the year again, friends!

A rookie in the pilot seat this year. I'm taking over after Grace_2 and our founder, TheStand.

My only addition to the list is item 5, which clarifies some previous questions about eligibility:

1. Please order your lists with #1 being your favorite album of the year. Please be sure to spell correctly and number your lists! This is a huge timesaver for me.

2. Please PM your lists to me. If my PM box is full, get cranky with me in the comments.

3. Lists are capped at 100, with a minimum of 10.

4. Scoring will be the same as we've done for years past.
- #1 album will be worth 100 points for every list
- The #2 album will be worth 100 - (100/size of list) and so on...
- Example: A list with 100 albums will be (1. 100 points, 2. 99 points, 3. 98 points, etc...
- A list with 10 albums will be (1. 100 points, 2. 90 points, 3. 80 points, etc...)
- After calculating the total points, each album will be weighted as follows: Total Points * (Lists Appearing/2)

5. Albums and EPs are eligible. Singles and taper recordings are not.

6. Comment below if you have any questions.

There are still albums I enjoyed this year, but overall it felt pretty weak as far as depth. Can't think of too many instant classics other than Taylor.

You’d think this year would be the year I listen to more music than normal. I can think of only a few albums I listened straight through.

What the hell did I do all year??

    There's about 10 records I really enjoyed

We'll see how those hold up over time

I spent way too much time listening to political podcasts instead of music this year. I guess that was my preferred method of dealing with the existential dread. Looking forward to more music in 2021 now that politics may become relatively boring again.

I definitely was more into politics than any other election year, too.

But my podcasts were murder podcasts, nothing like hearing about how someone was hacked up to realize your life isnít so terrible.

Also, a lot of video gaming to escape this year.

I'm not sure I'll ever be a podcast person

I almost always look at the running time and think I could listen an album in that amount of time

So when I do listen to the ones I like, you might not be surprised to learn I also am that person who speeds them up

I do this too. I'm oversubscribed and it bugs me to not finish them all so I listen at up to 3x speed depending on the natural voice of the host. Takes some getting used to, but now they all sound like molasses at normal speed, hehe.

This may be a dumb question, but is Live Drugs eligible? I know itís old performances, but I didnít know if live albums counted or not. And does Black Pumas count since the deluxe edition was released this year, or is it considered a 2019 release?

Also, I must have low standard because I thought there were a lot of really great releases this year. Itís not like there were any Deeper Understandings or High Violets, but I think there was a lot of worthwhile stuff.

I'm leaning toward Live Drugs is eligible but Black Pumas is not

And hopefully coming up with a consistent answer here for why: We'll go with the first time the title was available

I can think of arguments either way, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong (you and others ITT). I'm open to hearing other arguments

I also like a lot of records this year, but there's only one that feels like a classic for me

Edit: Maybe two? Yeah, I'd be comfortable calling my top two classics
