Re: **A Concert for Charlottesville** 9/24/17

In response to the recent events in their hometown of Charlottesville, VA, Dave Matthews Band will host an evening of music and unity that will be FREE for members of the Charlottesville area and University of Virginia communities. The event will take place on Sunday, September 24, at UVA’s Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. Doors open at 3:30PM.

“A Concert for Charlottesville” will feature Dave Matthews Band, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Chris Stapleton, The Roots, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Cage The Elephant and special guests.

Tickets will be allocated initially to residents of the city of Charlottesville and the adjacent counties, and also to UVA students, faculty and staff with a valid University ID. An online ticket request period is underway at http://www.concertforcharlottesville.com and will end on Monday, September 11th at Noon ET. A limited number of tickets will also be available at a walk-up, no service charge box office at John Paul Jones Arena, on Friday, September 15th at 10AM ET.

Please visit http://concertforcharlottesville.com for tickets and information.

While tickets are free, attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the “Concert for Charlottesville Fund” at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Beneficiaries of the fund will include victims of the events in Charlottesville on August 11 and 12, and their families, first responders, and organizations devoted to the promotion of healing, unity and justice locally and nationwide.

Visit http://bit.ly/cvilledon to make a donation.

I'm always amazed at how close the rumors leading up to the announcement are to being true.

I have a hard time believing there will be many tickets left for people outside of Virginia.

Requested (2) for shits and giggles.

Hopefully a live stream happens. Would be a great way to boost donations, as many have said in the rumors thread.

Pretty cool move by all parties involved.

If anyone gets upset about ticket availability... then they've totally missed the point .

But a live stream option would be a smart move, even if only for DMB.

Ants from VA should put in requests for as many tickets as possible. It would be nice to help each other out with tickets for this

I'd like to see a live stream for donations. Plus release the May 7th 2016 and all the proceeds from that can go to c ville

I agree with this 100%. I'm having a couple of friends from VA put in requests for me. I only need one, so if by some miracle I end up with more than one, the extras are for sure going to Ants.

Or maybe they should leave that for the residents and people who live nearby, which is the intended goal.

And not just request things in hopes to give them to random Ants.

Cookout, best combos ever. Might have to try to find one while in Asheville next weekend.

How long do we think the DMB set is? I have a friend in Charlottesville but will only be making the trip if it's a full set.

I would not expect a 2+ hour set... Most people are thinking 60-90 minutes.

Gates open at 3:30 so earliest start time is 4 pm with 6-7 acts....

Damn, no live stream. I was really hoping for that. I would watch the entire day with that lineup, and I would be happy to donate to do so.

Although they didn't say anything about a stream in announcement, they could very well announce week of about a stream. I am waiting to donate until the actual weekend of event, because I would assume that if there was a stream, they would require a small, nominal donation.

That would be pretty amazing. But put WWYS or Billies as the opener

    So:

Requests are open to everyone regardless of where they live so there's nothing wrong with using all avenues if you actually want to go to this thing.

Yes, requests are open to anyone. If you have a friend that you think can help get you tickets, great.

The spirit of the fest is not to have VA residents requesting tickets to ship them to random fanboys from an internet chatroom.

Looks like an awesome event - not something I'm going to travel for though. Live stream is an absolute no-brainer, with multiple donation possibilities (cville, harvey, irma, etc.). Would be shocked if they don't partner with Nugs.net (I think that's the entity that does this? Didn't they cast the Gorge Caravan?).
