2017 Best Released Version Results

These songs were selected by polls placed on DMB's SubReddit, the Warehouse Message Boards and AntsMarching.org. Multiple sources were used to get a wide range of opinions. Songs were placed in polls if they had 2 or more live releases of that particular song. Any source that constituted a live release was used.

I’m listing winner and runner up in the event a more rare release wins that people may not have in their collection. Songs in the poll were only full versions - partials and teases were not included.

I’ve been running these polls since June, and it took a while to get these results in. I mainly wanted to do this for people who create playlists, or anytime a thread pops up that says, “What’s the best version of X song?”. This will be a good thread to point them to.

There wasn't a tie in the final results. I had that in my preliminary results, but after they finalized there wasn't a tie anymore. I just forgot to remove the word "Tie" above. CP Bonus was the winner and BOWA Vol 1 was the runner up.

We actually didn't end up with any ties at all in the final results.

18 of the 20 songs of Central Park are included above as either best or second best. Listener Supported and Radio City also have quite a strong presence. I guess one way to interpret some of these results is: if you see above a version that is also released on video, then it's probably a pretty good version. but if you see among those songs a non-video release, then it's probably a great version.

This is pretty cool you did this. I find it interesting that options with butch and roi were favored over post 08 versions of those songs. I think bartender was the only exception.

Generally most songs that were winners and runner up got a majority of the votes. I can go back and look if any versions were more split. I didn't put it in a spreadsheet but I can export it to one

also, the CP Bonus of The Last Stop is by FAR the best one. Im not even gonna argue with other choices but really FTT as a solo is the best??

There’s aren’t that many versions out there. And the Benaroya version is magic, it’s the version that turned me on to the song originally. But I’d vote Gorge 02 over it, with the 2012 warehouse release second. Benayora a close 3rd

The 2012 wasn’t released back when this poll was made, otherwise it may have been a different outcome

no way, LiC is horrible, I rarely even listen to that LS, that version is not "crisp" in the sound amongst other things

The list was voted on by members here. It wasn't anything one person came up with.

And there are many Dave solo or D&T versions that I think are better than the full band versions.

I think it has to do with 1.) nostalgia towards those releases. 2.) people not having heard the other versions.

But this poll doesn’t necessarily prove which versions is “the best” because that’s subjective, rather it shows which is THE version in terms of popularity/legendary status amongst the community.
