interesting DMB stats on Google Trends

http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22dave+matthews+band%22

fairly obvious where and why the spikes came in google searches, but I thought it was interesting Albany is the number one searcher for things DMB on google... and I don't know how Louisville searches for DMB more than Boston....

The spikes are pretty interesting. I'll take a stab at it and say the release of Stand Up, Roi's death, and the release of Big Whiskey/start of summer tour.

I think you nailed it - I wasn't sure about the Big Whiskey spike, but had forgotten the album got pushed back so much until you posted

this year's must be the release of tour dates, right?

I think you're spot on. And the little double spike in 2010 is probably the Grammys.

    Very cool find.

Although put "looking for how DMB trends on Google" in the "You know you're addicted to DMB when..." thread.

Man, I hate when the band goes on hiatus. We need setlists and tapes STAT!

    hahahaha nice! lol
I was actually randomly looking through nancies.org and they had a news story on 2008's google trends...

so instead I guess you can add: "looking through old DMB sites that aren't active anymore" to the addicted thread

Man, I TOTALLY forgot about nancies.org. That used to be the place I frequented before Ants came along. Those were the days...

The Grammy's could be one of the spikes, but I think they could also be the release of tour dates and/or the announcement they're taking '11 off.

Also, this is pretty interesting. http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22Je...ate=all&sort=0

The peak for "Jeff Coffin" is more than 20 times higher than the peak for DMB, albeit that's really all he's got.

And I guess it may seem that DMB doesn't love SPAC more than the other venues as much as he used to, but SPAC certainly loves DMB more than other venues do!

the spike this year is the grammy's and the announcement of the year off. the announcement is the biggest news in a while. tour dates wouldn't make that big of a spike.

That was because when Adam Sandler talked about it, people googled it because they either forgot, or never knew to begin with. I remember the article that LeRoi died was #1 on CNN or some news site the night after the Grammys
