I wasn't counting tLWS since it wasn't official and what am I missing on Granny, when was that released?

Well worth a listen! They added like a marimba or xylophone-type instrument. Sounds really cool.

    Re: Bismarck

It is cool that we finally got the studio Granny. It’s interesting listening to that version and think that Dave and the band thought that would be their big hit. I believe the comment was that he imagined folks on the street saying “LOVE! BABY!” and whatnot haha.

It’s a great version, but compared to the live beast it has become over the past 25 years, it seems rather tame. A similar situation to DDTW studio vs. live.

I think it would have been the best song off Come Tomorrow by far. Would love to see them bring it back this year.

Since we are not getting this on the album, is there a best version out there on youtube? I've been listening to it's debut mostly.

I've listened to a lot of Bismarck, and they debut is pretty freakin awesome. There's also a Dave and Tim version from Farm Aid that is really good.

Why is it that the debut versions are often times the best version of the new songs?

Looks like this is another fan-loved, band-disliked, song that will be shelved into perpetuity.

Maybe a bonus track on the Come Tomorrow 25th anniversary release in 2043.

Could ask same thing about their album track selection. Seems Lillywhite is only guy close to this band that understands at what point the song is done and to stop tinkering. Even he went overboard a few times (Halloween, Stay adding the LL)

-Sugar Will 2004 is the tits

-Shotgun debut is one of the most haunting things I've ever heard. Too bad this under 3 minute Dave wasn't around then to keep it at that. Once they added the royal horns and tried to make it Bartender part Deux it was over for that tune.

-Idea of You was better in its original form

    - Good Good Time at Bonnaroo with original riff

    - Captain before it became a porn song

I mean I don't need to list them all for everyone. You all know.

To answer your question though I think it loses its original inspiration when they overanalyze it. It's why I personally love TGIY. You can still hear the joy of the original inspiration as flawed as the vocal technically is. Its real though.

Dave also tries to outwit himself lyrically (Sugar Will) way too much these days.

    I'm sure it has many.

It just needs to be released. It's likely been worked on across 3 studio sessions now.

And if they're not going to release it via studio, at least give us a fully mixed show with it. It has 0 official live releases to date.

It's one of the best songs they've had since Roi passed, maybe longer, and it's pretty much being withheld from the fans. Insanity.
