That entire Unplugged show is so great. I know Noel hates it because he felt he wasn't prepared to do all the singing when Liam bailed at the last minute, but I thought he sounded great. Still listen to that show a lot.

I can't decide if I like it better, but its definitely an amazing version, I like how they put this little twist on it the last few years.

If anyone hasn't seen the documentary 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down', I highly, highly recommend it. Really a great watch.

its nice but i like full band better...when i saw oasis 2 years ago i was a bit dissapointed, waiting for the drums to kick in the whole time it was being played

Still don't like it; the one Oasis song ("Stop the Clocks") is the only one I like. The album is just so timid. It really misses the sheer attitude of Liam's voice. As I've said in the AOTD thread, though, Noel's second album, which is with Amorphous Androgynous (a pseudonym of British ambient techno act The Future Sound of London) looks to be awesome. I listened to four of the albums FSOL released under the Amorphous Androgynous name this week, and they're fucking awesome. They work that kind of magic with Noel, I'll be happy.

I haven't listened to it in awhile, but when I first did, I was struck by how timid it was, like the word "rock" wasn't in its vocabulary. Having heard both of their new projects' first albums, it was painfully apparent to me that even if they hate each other, the Gallagher brothers need each other to make compelling music. The Beady Eye record missed Noel's songwriting abilities, and the High Flying Birds record missed Liam's presence as a frontman.

I have always loved Noel's vocals. Liam is great on the earlier albums, but there's no question that his voice has fell off big time over the years. Not to mention, a lot of the songs Noel signs are some of my favorites of Oasis.

Interesting. I never knew this about Live Forever. Makes the song even better in my opinion:

In general the lyrics of the song stress an optimistic outlook. Noel Gallagher explained that "At the time . . . it was written in the middle of grunge and all that, and I remember Nirvana had a tune called 'I Hate Myself and Want to Die', and I was like . . . 'Well, I'm not fucking having that.' As much as I fucking like him [Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain] and all that shit, I'm not having that. I can't have people like that coming over here, on smack, fucking saying that they hate themselves and they wanna die. That's fucking rubbish. Kids don't need to be hearing that nonsense." While Gallagher has stated he did not intend "Live Forever" as a direct retort to Nirvana or their music (being a professed fan of the band), he contrasted the lives of Cobain and his band at that point, saying, "Seems to me that here was a guy who had everything, and was miserable about it. And we had fuck-all, and I still thought that getting up in the morning was the greatest fuckin' thing ever, 'cause you didn't know where you'd end up at night. And we didn't have a pot to piss in, but it was fucking great, man". Gallagher considers the line "We see things they'll never see" the most important line of the song, explaining that old friends tend to laugh at jokes and stories that "no one else gets".

If you've never heard any podcasts where Noel is the guest on some radio shows, look them up - he is hilarious.
