Ah I though you were just hating on the song. I agree. There's 24 tracks I'm more excited about than Snow Outside. But; I am excited for Snow Outside too - just a much lesser degree.

Question for the vinyl people: How often do you listen to vinyl in general? How often do you listen to particular releases?

I have about a 1000 in my collection. I use a Uturn Orbit Plus running through a 1972 Sony STR receiver. I've been collecting since I was 5 years old. So almost 20 years now. I listen every day for the most part. The sound and quality is what is addicting for me. Here's a picture of my collection...the only one I have in my phone. I listen to vinyl probably, 4-5 days out of the week. It's basically the only way I listen to music at home, unless we're having a party or something where it's a pain to be flipping records. My favorite thing to do during baseball season is throw the Cubs game on my big screen with the sound off and spin records.

Not 100% what you mean by your second question?? As far as DMB goes, the 5 Live Trax sets, Red Rocks, and the Crash reissue are some of the most frequently spun albums in my collection for sure.

We do the same thing. Turn on the games or races and listen to records. For parties we use our jukebox.

I would say a couple times per week. I didn't start getting into vinyl till about 2 years ago and don't have the greatest table yet. decent speakers though. I'll sit down and listen for a few hours whenever I have time to sit down with a beer.

I'll go through stretches where I won't touch the thing for 2 weeks and stretches where I'm spinning albums every night for 2 weeks. Just depends what I've got going on

The only LT I have from DMB is 5 on the pink vinyl. I really enjoy that show and the pink vinyl kind of has a cool look to it

4-5 times a week. Many nights I put on a record while I cook dinner. And every couple of weekends I block out a few hours to just sit and listen.

A particular release? I have albums I've purchased in the last 2 years that I opened and cleaned and haven't listened to yet, I have records I bought 20+ years ago that have been played over a hundred times. I dont usually buy things I don't intend to listen to, so just about everything I have has been listened to multiple times. I have a handful of things that I listened to once or twice and didn't care for, and if someone sees it and says "oh hey I love that but don have a copy" they just got a door prize.

I definitely don't listen on vinyl as often as other formats, but when I do I treat it similar to watching a movie. I sit in front of the speakers and just listen all the way through with my eyes closed (no, I don't watch movies with my eyes closed), and no other distractions.

I couldn't believe how good it sounded the first time I dropped the needle. Almost like hearing those songs for the first time again.

I'll usually play at least 1 full album and at minimum 1 side or 1 disc of another per day. On weekends my wife and I will have a drink or two and listen to a handful of records. We always start with Van Morrison's Moondance (the all analog Steve Hoffman cut) and move from there.

My most played are Moondance, Crash, LT 3, Phish's Rift, RHCP's Bloo Sugar Sex Magik/Stadium Arcadium, and a few Neil Young albums

Totally agree! And then when #41 started I was blown away by the crispness of Carter's high hat. DIDO was another highlight for me on that pressing as well.

That Crash reissue played on decent equipment is just ridiculous. Carter sounds like he's actually inside your speakers. You can hear every little thwack of Dave's guitar pick against the strings and the squeak of his fingers moving up and down the neck. Tim's accents throughout the album come to life like I had never heard them before.

My favorite is hearing Carter yell "That....is bad as shit!!" at the end of DIDO.

All of this. The music just comes alive. Words really don't do that album justice.

I think I just figured out my plans for the night

Pretty much every day I listen to vinyl. My turntable is set up in my bedroom, so usually when I'm back there doing laundry, or before bed, or if I'm doing any work on my computer back there I'll be spinning a record.

And it depends on the release. I've listened to every record I own. Some more than once (the LT vinyl, some Talking Heads records, etc).

On the topic of that Crash vinyl I like how you can hear Dave saying , way in the background, something about "Carter's gonna smoke now" during that one section in DIDO

Just bought a record player in the last month and we've started a decent collection of records to go along with a bunch my in laws gave us. Once we get more, we'll listen more often, but we probably turn it on 3-4 times a week.

Crash is probably one of the best sounding records in my collection. As Alex mentioned, you can almost "feel" Carter in your room with a good system. I'd also note that Tim's fills in Lie in Our Grave and Proudest Monkey are much more present, and the horns in Too Much and Two Step are way more powerful than on the CD.

And while there was a ton of criticism of the Amazon exclusive splatter edition, I got lucky and got a beautiful looking copy. Perfect release all around, Chris Bellman did a fantastic job and I can't wait to see what they can do for BTCS and beyond as far as studio work goes (I'd love to hear a properly mastered Stand Up despite the songs being mostly shit)

Hoping Bellman also did DMB Live 25

Yep agreed. Crash is easily in the top 10 in my collection. I also bought the Amazon pressing. Mine looks great and sounds amazing as well. No complaints on my end.

I don't think the existence of a digital option, or not, will have any affect on the secondary market cost.
The people who want the vinyl and/or the whole package will buy it now at retail.
The people who just want the music will steal it. They're not going to pay flipper prices on eBay just to get it.

Don't get me wrong, there will be a secondary market for this, but it won't be outrageous and I think anyone buying up multiples to flip is going to be disappointed in their returns.

oh, breh, you're not allowed to like Snow Outside. you're allowed to moderately like it on the album but be disappointed when it is played live.

    that's just an FYI...

Thanks for the answers guys. It just seems so cumbersome to me. I've never sat and listened to vinyl through a nice system though. That might change my perspective on the labor intensity involved.
