Re: I Know I Know but... Next Live Trax Please

People hate 2005 because of Stand Up. But honestly, while that album was poorly produced, it produced some good jams out of a band that was still firing from all cylinders. Bayou with Robert Randolph, Stand Up had Roi jamming, say what you will about Dream Girl but Roi played some beautifully mellow solos over that ending, American Baby was killer, American Baby Intro was so good fall 05, Hello Again was in the mix, I always dug Smooth Rider that year, Out of My Hands always felt like a nice mellow summer night tune, I don’t know, i had a blast at every show I went to that year. It was the years following that when they brought Rashawn in that I felt the shift. And by 09 they were forcing it for what ever reason they felt they had to. Be it to honor Roi or not, they came back sloppy. At least in 05 they still had cohesion to their sound and could still make the worst songs sound good.

I feel like LT 35 covers most of that, making SPAC 2009 (A better show IMO) less of a possibility.

I sent a request to the WH for something kinda like this...I asked if they would ever consider doing WH-only complete weekends for shows already released, and for upcoming shows. To use your example, LT1 would be available to everyone, but then release (sell) the other night to WH members only, as a digital or CD "Companion release." For upcoming shows, make the single night available to the general public, but give WH members the option of the complete stand, maybe a blu-ray option, too, when applicable.
I got the standard "thanks for your input, we'll take it under consideration" response.

They need to pick up the pace with covering release years. We all will be dead by the time the numbers increase.

There is zero chance they will leave money on the table and make something a Warehouse only release.

Depends on how many people they think they could get to join the Warehouse. If something was $35 and management thought they could convince just half of the possible buyers who aren't already Warehouse members to join the Warehouse, they would break even. If any of those people renewed for another year, they'd come out on top. If we're talking about a standard live trax type release it would probably be significantly less than $35, so they would need to convert even fewer people.

If they thought but I personally wouldn't expect them to, since I also don't think there is even a remote chance. I just don't see people ponying up $35 plus $10+ for the release in the modern day. I would be curious of the actual Warehouse member numbers as I imagine they are dwindling.

I'm not entirely sure its possible either, but I don't think its impossible depending on the release in question. I also didn't account for the difference in their cost for a new release and a warehouse membership. I assume this difference would make it much easier for them to break even as a warehouse membership basically costs them nothing.

Re: I Know I Know but... Next Live Trax Please

I think it would be a great way to, at the very least, retain WH membership numbers, if not bring back old fans who lost faith in the WH with the lack of benefits, especially now that they're doing away with the annual disc. Exclusive access to official releases if you're a member of the WH? Fuck yes, please.
