lots of Lue flowers being given out. i thought he was slow figuring out the 5 out and switching small defense when it was obvious from the jump, but credit to him doing it at all, and obviously major credit for sticking to his guns when Leonard goes down.

but the biggest bouquet should go to Lawrence Frank for putting together a roster with legit 2-way guys at every position + some on the bench, something sorely missing from pretty much every other team except perhaps Phoenix. Lue could not do all the fancy stuff he did (switch, double + switch, 5 out) without the personnel to do it. from the beginning i thought the Clippers were the best equipped playoff roster, they just had to do it

and credit to Batum and Jackson for suddenly becoming plus defenders overnight? i think Batum has been the most effective defender of the postseason so far????

lots of poop on Gobert but idk what else he could’ve done. he was between a rock and a hard place. the Clippers 5-out is spefically constructed to take advantage of less mobile huge people like him.

damn, a lot of Utah players got blown by all night on the perimeter which i don’t think insignificant, but it’s so easy to game plan around guys who have clear deficiencies like Gobert (and Simmons and Antetokuonmpo)

oh well still one of the best defensive seasons i’ve ever seen, just doesn’t work in the playoffs. Snyder was handcuffed to Gobert-centered lineups. something’s gotta change there. much like Simmons i think you can trade him to a lesser team for some good value

Although I made the Ben Simmons joke yesterday, I would trade Porzingis for Gobert in a heartbeat. Idk if that makes Utah better but Doncic seemed to love dumping it down to Marjonovich in the last series...what if we just replace Bobi with Gobert? I would assume we would have to include Brunson and/or a 1st. But if I’m Michael Finley (the next GM), there would be an instant stamp of approval.

if Utah is fine being a top 4 seed for the next 6 years but never winning a title, they should keep Gobert. as a small market team there is no shame in that at all, maybe you get lucky with injuries one year and grab a title like Toronto

if they wanna win a title, they should look at trades, but i don’t think Porzingis alone is even close to Gobert’s value. maybe Porzingis, Brunson, Kleber, and two firsts. but yes Dallas should be thinking along the lines of Simmons and Gobert if they become available
