Re: Live Trax Vol. 60: 8.20.95 - Cincinnati Music Hall

I work late nights and so I was able to download this and listen at work and on my way home. It sounds really good, IMHO. Highlight for me was hearing a 1995 version of #41 for the first time. I don't buy every Live Trax like I used to during my teenage days, but really glad I bought this one. Great release!

Because it's 27 years later and the song was still 8 months away from even being released?

Just bouncing around listening here and there to different tracks and the raven is cool! I love hearing newer songs with long forgotten lyrics.

I don't think I've ever heard Dave do the little fill he does at 1:11 on Two Step before

I agree. There are other examples where early versions of certain songs were golden but over time the band changed things up and not always for the better..e.g.
    • Sugar Will ("too much of a good thing maybe not so sweet" -> became "not so good"..
    • Good Good Time (first versions were a bit faster paced) - later 2004 versions were slower.
    • Lillywhite Version of Big Eyed Fish vs. Busted Stuff Version

Sometimes they don't need to mess with a good thing

Ah yes, apparently I forgot, I love current DMB (in terms of sound) but it'd be cool if Dave added a little more guitar playing like this

I started at the beginning and made my way through Lover Lay Down so far. Fantastic release! Proudest Monkey is stunning here; such an amazing version. This LLD is absolutely incredible, too. Roi... my goodness, he was truly special. What an unreal talent.

Listened to this today and this sounds great. I love the early versions of the Crash songs. Water Into Wine has a hoedown jam. Ants is marked wrong and does not go into Little Thing. The next track is technically LT>Raven>LT. It starts with Little thing for a couple of minutes then goes into Raven and then back to a Little Thing outro.

I was initially reluctant to purchase this because the show was from the same week as Red Rocks, but I really loved this release.

There's a great flow from song to song and I think the fact that so many of the Crash songs are still in their formative stages, allows them to sound different but still sound great (plus I love all early #41s).

It might be one of my 10 favourite LiveTrax.

I'm listening to the mp3s, on decent but not professional headphones, so all I can say about the sound quality is that I'm happy enough.

Whose voice (besides Boyd's, obviously) am I hearing in the first verse and on background of True Reflections?

Never mind, found it on DMB Almanac. Don't recall hearing Carter's singing voice before, at least that I'm aware of.

Really enjoying the release so far. I bought this specifically because it was so close to Live at Red Rocks, one of the first DMB albums I ever owned.

My biggest take away from this release is that we are closing in on these 1995 shows being 30 years ago. It seems like yesterday when 13 year old me asked my grandparents to purchase the Red Rocks album when it came out.
