Re: Hold 'em poker

<loooove poker lately (esp Texas Hold 'em)!!

We play at the firehouse. We are 'restoring' an old poker table too.
So far it's just been for 'chips'... but we're about to break open the piggy banks!
This past Wed night we were on stand by for a fire in another part of town and 4 of us spent about 3+ hours playing. I KICKED their @$$es!!! Usually I'm mediocre depending on the cards... but I was getting lots of good stuff... full houses, straights...

I started one hand with a 5 and 8 of clubs and the flop was... 4, 6, 7.. OF CLUBS!! Freakin straight flush!! And the guy I was playing against was betting into it before me (he ended up with 2 pairs)...

I've been watching all the poker shows on TV. World Series of Poker, Poker World tour, etc. I like them alot. I went to one of the casinos here that has poker and the game is COMPLETELY different. Since there's a max on betting, WAY to many people stay in with shit. It's virtually impossible to get someone to fold a straight or flush draw when they can call for another buck or two. Bluffing is virtually nonexistant. It tought me A LOT about the game though.

Go to ebay for the best prices on poker chips. You'll get the same stuff for like $80

I've been playing on pokerroom.com for about a month now, and I'm up about 500$. Its been a lot of fun so far, and I'm not even close to a great poker player. I found that poker room has the best software, so I decided to play there. If anyone wants to sign up and get a 25$ bonus, email me and I will refer you.

I'm not to fond of playing on-line. I imagine it's probably a little different when you're playing for money. I only play the free stuff. There really isn't the element of the bluff in the free on-line stuff. Nothin better than sitting around with friends and playin.

Yeah, online play money poker is just annoying. No one ever folds, and its just all luck. Even the low limit tables for real money are very easy to bluff, so the real money online is a lot of fun.

Me and a bunch of friends just started playing weekly tournaments like a month ago, I've lost about $30 between those and pool tourneys, and still have yet to win. It's great though, love it.

2 pairs... the worst poker hand... imo!!!

Yes, yes, I know 1 pair is worse in terms of winning hands... but from my expereince you easily can feel overconfident with 2 pairs (and ya don't feel that way with 1 pair). 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house.... all beat ya fast!!! Yet ya see 2 pair and get ALL happy.

but if you are playing 7 card stud, three pairs, wins regardless

that was our answer on our recent vacation, when all we would get are three pairs - can't do shit with it - so we decided that hand wins all.

ok - takes sad story to the door with her.....

Brian - nice sig - and yes have been watching WPT - one of the few reasons i keep cable anymore. just found out this week, some local bars have texas hold 'em tournaments on saturdays - more for fun than anything. figured it will be a good way to play my "dumb blonde" card - since the people i play with have it figured out.

They are a local business - but ship online - nice clay chips. Since my husband bought them, i think they come in sets of 12 - but may be worth a look.
