DMB has always treated a few select venues as "special" where they know the diehards come out of the woodwork to attend.

MSG, Gorge and Red Rocks are probably the top 3 "special" venues for them. There are countless examples of them busting out crazy things you'd never see at your normal shed.

Alpine and SPAC are probably your next tier with your DC and WPB, etc. in the third. Some people will debate which venues are higher on their rankings but those "tiers" are kind of the general consensus.

Specific to MSG? For example, a lot of people still consider 12.10.05 as the best show they've ever seen, capped off by this Halloween (with confetti and all - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhmfRdGv29c). Experienced my first SPAC this summer and really liked it. I don't mind CT, the sets were decent and I got to hear JTR, which I've been chasing since I started going to shows. Was excited when we first heard the rumors about MSG. Priced out the entire trip and it's really difficult to justify hearing sets that are very similar to the summer. MSG is on my DMB bucket list, so I'm torn. The same sets, the ticketing mess (and how the WH routinely screws it's most loyal customers), putting up with jerks at shows...all make it hard to justify. If they add a violin for the Fall tour, that would push me over the edge though.

I didn't really think the tour was very good at all, but I really enjoyed my two shows at Deer Creek. I'm not going to any fall/winter shows because they won't be coming anywhere around here and DMB isn't worth traveling for, but I look forward to seeing them again next summer.

Enjoyed my shows this summer. Bristow was just a weird experience overall and Va Beach was a bit of a let down. NC shows were really solid with some rarities and TD’s. Will be doing Cville and any potential NC Stop this fall.

Probably should have split the "I will attend a fall tour show" into two options... "I will attend a fall tour show close to me" and "I will travel for a fall tour show."


As bad as I think this tour was, I'd still go to a fall tour show if it were in the Austin city limits. No way am I getting on a plane for one though.

i will happily go to cville and hang out with friends and go to bodo's. would not buy tickets for the show unless somethgn chnages. i don't think anything matters tho at this point; this band isn't the same to me, that spark and fire inside me has died. it only comes out when listening to when they were extremely reflective of what they're capable of on stage.

edit: i would see them at msg just to see a show at msg, though i havne't impressed with it for hockey

I still maintain that those that are upset, if they get off ants, stop watching setlists, take a year off, and then just attend one local show, they'll probably have a good time. The obsessive nature tends to eat away at things.

I disagree the band doesn’t play diverse enough sets. Will people hear the same stuff if they do multiple shows, yes, though you don’t have to just look at the setlists.

The band could be excellent night after night but they choose not to be and are happy being lackluster. Does that mean they’ll give you a great show every now and then, yes but it should be more often.

possibly the silliest thing ive ever read on here. 'Ill go out of my way travel to Cville for the shows but wont go to the shows.'

Especially knowing in the past how cheap those tickets got.

I went to 5 shows and had fun at all of them.

Doesnt mean I was happy with all of the sets. Both things can be true.

Since it seems like it needs explained to you, noone thinks they are actively choosing to be bad. We just know dave has terrible taste in his own music and only plays what he wants.

I always enjoy DMB every time I see them. Sure they never play the songs I want to hear, but in every set I get at least 6-7 songs that make it worth the price of admission. Their days are limited and I'm grateful I've seen them. Will keep going until they call it quits.

I only went to one show, so I can't say whether or not I enjoyed the entire tour. Milwaukee was a let down, but I kind of expected that going in. Would go to a show near me in the fall/winter to (hopefully) get the bad taste out of my mouth.
