Slept 5 hours straight the last 2 nights. For someone that hardly ever sleeps more than 2-3 hours without waking up, that feels pretty fucking great.

had a really awesome thing happen yesterday - I was outside my apartment cleaning some tire marks off my GF's car (she hit a parked car ), and my neighbor (who I've said hello to in passing, never actually met before) comes walking over and we start chit-chatting about the car, etc.

I then point to the issue with my car, which has fairly significant scratches from when I hit a parking deck cement pole last year (we haven't had the best luck with parked obstacles ) - and mention to him how I've been meaning to get it fixed and just haven't gotten around to it yet (i.e. I just don't want to pay a $500 insurance deductible and have my insurance go up). Turns out my neighbor is a former auto body/paint specialist and says he can help me out and that he has all the tools needed to do the job. So right there on the spot, he walks next door to his place and comes back with all the supplies and starts working on my car. 2 hours later and it's all fixed.

Check out the before and after pics - now granted, it's not perfect but my main goal was to try and hide the scratches and I think he did a pretty damn good job of that - at first he didn't even want any money, and then I asked him how much he would typically charge and he said $40, and I wasn't comfortable with just $40 so I paid him $80.

Really unexpected turn of events and made my whole day.

Probably should post this in the tech thread, but I spun up 2 linux VPS', one to house websites for my clients, one for the databases, and set both of them to auto back up to AWS daily. I'm moving away from shared hosting forever!

I also have a 3rd windows VPS for remote development, but everything is in git, so I won't be as crushed if the VPS goes down/fails/etc.

I'm really geeking out, but it feels so liberating to learn linux/command line, and be my own system admin with complete control.

I tell you When I lived on the golf course I fished for golf balls in the lakes. I would wind up with about 10 or 15 of them after looking for a bit.

Today is my last day of classes and I'm sure no students will come, then I have one month off!

Today is a work from home day and I'm not doing any work, just washing/waxing my car. In addition, we get out at 3 tomorrow, Monday is another "work" from home day, and Tuesday is the holiday.

We're being encouraged to take a PTO day on Monday as they want to run a bare bones staff. I am in support of this decision.

Yeah I've had Monday taken off for almost 9 months now, planned our vacation to Newport RI last September. I highly doubt anything will be getting done around here, although the courts are open.

Our office decided to do a "work from home" day on Monday with our only real obligation is to check emails to make sure we put out any emergencies. Someone is coming into the office to route mail and that's it. Boom. 5 day weekend starts in 5.5 hours.

Went mini golfing with kids after picking them up from camp. My 9 year old had 3 holes in one during a 4 hole stretch. Then my 12 year made the shot on the "19th hole" to win the free game.

Is this real life??

Gonna have to start keeping score soon as they are getting close to beating me.
