Looking for a new career

I'm currently in insurance and want out. I want out of sales and preferrably out of a customer facing role all together. I spent a dozen years in restaurants and now half a decade selling insurance. I'm tired of being friendly and polite to make money. I wouldn't mind a full salary role in underwriting, claims, adjusting... But I can't sell this stuff anymore for commissions.

What do you all do? I'm trying to get ideas. Thanks!

Start a youtube channel. Make your first video about this very thing.

Has that worked for you or someone you know? Do recruiters look at youtube for people to hire? Honest questions. Thanks for the advice.

Only if your parents will let you do it.

With insurance experience you could probably walk into any Claim Rep/Adjuster role or an Underwriting role. Most positions I've seen have pretty reasonable starting salaries and if you get into Personal Injury there is generally less customer interaction.

I presume you're in casualty insurance, then? I'd further presume, since you are in sales, that you work through an agency arrangement?

If you want to switch to claims or underwriting I'd reach out directly to the principal companies. They probably offer remote positions in those roles.

I work in insurance but not casualty insurance.

I will be 59 when I finish my 35th year of teaching. I won't stop working altogether and have a lot of different thoughts about what to do when that time comes. I have considered starting my own auto detailing business. I really like detailing cars.

I too am in insurance, but moreso TPA/group insurance field. You could walk onto essentially any UW role at MetLife and be fine. What are are actually looking to do though?

Without a doubt I will take a pay cut in my first IT position. But the ceiling is higher, and it would allow me to move away from working nights.

Engineers don't deal with people but it's a good bit of schooling. Chemical engineers particularly make great money. I'm not a chemical engineer sadly

I don't know about you, but when I worked in a restaurant and took a day off then I didn't get paid. You take a day off as in IT, you're getting paid on your day off. Sure you'll take a pay cut at first but the long run benefits are the big pay off.

Samesies, 32K to be precise. Did that for a couple of years before moving to IT operations, then audit.
