And people who make mistakes while driving and accidentally kill someone can be charged too. This is no different.

No and I probably won't. I prefer not to watch videos like that if I can avoid it. Never watched the George Floyd video either, for example.

Police are authorized to use deadly force. Your average manslaughter Joe driving a vehicle does not have this authorization.

She will obviously be investigated. Maybe because of the current climate, she will be prosecuted. But I doubt she will be found guilty, which leads me to believe they avoid prosecution.

This has gotten to the point where conservatives want there to be riots and will be upset if there aren't.

Yea, this. Both things can be true. Accidents can and will always happen, you cant avoid it 100%, thats obvious. You still should take situations like this and learn from them.

Having watched the video I think there are a few equally valid takeaways which also do not necessarily conflict with one another:

1. She did mean to pull the trigger;

2. She thought she was holding a taser instead of a firearm;

3. It was criminally negligent for her to have not realized her mistake before killing somebody.

Is it murder? No. Is it manslaughter? To some degree, almost certainly.

This. Being "authorized" to exert deadly force when deemed necessary doesn't give her immunity from mistakes that end up killing people.

Now that I think about it... what if she was intentionally holding her gun, didn't mention taser at all, would she still be in the wrong?

I think it's fair to expect a "very senior" police officer to know the difference between her gun and her taser 100% of the time. If she can't, she should have been pushing paper behind a desk.
