Marvel and Netflix are proud to announce that "Marvel's Daredevil" will receive a second season, available only on the streaming service in 2016!
With the first season of "Marvel's Daredevil" proving a smash success with both audiences and critics, Netflix and Marvel will continue to create further adventures of the Man Without Fear! Doug Petrie ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "American Horror Story") and Marco Ramirez ("Sons of Anarchy"), who worked closely with Executive Producers Steven S. DeKnight and Drew Goddard during the first season, will serve as showrunners for Season 2. Petrie, Ramirez, Goddard ("Cabin in the Woods"), and Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.") will serve as Executive Producers of Season 2.
“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season," DeKnight explains, "I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can't wait to see what they do with the show moving forward."
Not thrilled about new showrunners, but there's a good foundation here and I trust Marvel.
Watched episode 4 last night and just keep loving this show more and more. The writing is just so good and the acting is superb. Only one full episode with Kingpin and I'm really looking forward to where they take him. I'm liking that he is so ruthless (for those that have seen episode 4, you know what I'm talking about), but also seemingly vulnerable as well. So well done. Glad to hear it's already picked up for Season 2.
I didn't realize these series were going to be eligible for renewal, I thought they would each just be a one season limited season and lead to the Defenders. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Yeah? Alright. At what point were you guys sold? How long should I commit to it before I will really know that I hate it?
I'd put it below House of Cards S2 in my favorite single season of any Netflix show, but above Lilyhammer (which I loved & think is the best series overall).
It's a very well done program. Well acted, story is compelling, quality storytelling

I purposely waited on watching this at first because I didn't want to devour it too quickly, although I'm still binging. Starting Saturday night, I'm up thru the end of episode 6 now. As so much of the first several episodes was pretty damn cool, I have to say a big disappointing moment in episode 6
they give so many demonstrations earlier in the season on how Matt can see and hear so many things coming in many different ways to defend himself and also to attack, it feels a little bit eye roll-worthy that he then falls for such a cliched trap with Vladimir, the whole "lean in closer so I can whisper this to you", for it to give him the amount of trouble it then does.
And, I'm sure at least one person will say I'm an idiot for even asking this question, but Karen knows who he is, right? I mean even though he didn't literally take off the mask or anything, but back at the start when he first saves her in the street as Daredevil, from their dialog, it sure seemed to suggest to me that she came to realize before it was over that this was the same guy who showed up out of nowhere to help her as an attorney earlier.
oh also, if I had another "complaint", I don't really see the point of if you're going to bother veering into much more adult territory for the MCU with having so much violence, to not have at least a little bit of profanity along with it. It feels a little silly to hear cops (dirty ones, no less) yell "friggin" at a suspect.

one last thing, as far as vague references to other characters and the larger MCU, I have a theory
Nobu mentioned earlier on to Fisk about how "you remember who I represent", or something like that, and it was clearly a weighty intimidation. I'm wondering if he's not connected to the real Mandarin somehow. After all in the "All Hail The King" one-shot, they pretty much all but confirmed that aside from Trevor the actor, there still is a real deal Mandarin somewhere out there in the world, he just let for the time being the Ben Kingsley guy let the world think he was it

alright well I got thru episode 9 now, one thing at least that's totally clear to me now, no Karen does NOT know it's Matt. She knew enough from that first meeting to know the "man in the mask" was good and to be skeptical of all the stuff she'd later hear in the news about him, but no the more time went on from when I said that before, she definitely isn't aware yet.

JRS, that isn't for me is it? because I think you're done the whole run and I do'nt wanna screw myself
Nothing I said was confirmed (at least that I caught) in the show. Just speculation. You can read or not, but it does not spoil anything to my knowledge
So I'm about 6 episodes in and the show has grown on me. I think some of the parts are a little kitch and the latest episodes with all of the flashbacks weren't cool for me. Otherwise I'm into the show. I will continue to watch.
I'm still not finished yet, and one major thing that's surprised me. I was very excited when I first heard Vincent D'Onofrio was playing Kingpin, I don't know a ton about the character but I trusted that as a good choice, I know the guy's got skills. But overall I've been very underwhelmed by his performance throughout this whole thing. It's very strange, someone you know as a quality actor for years, suddenly you see them in something where you can totally see them acting so much.

Now I'm totally done with season 1. I'd kind of taken for granted that if this had gotten a 2nd season, that wouldn't happen until after the Defenders team up series goes down, but considering how long away that is, that didn't make much sense. Happy as hell it'll get another go round, and already next year, so we'll get two different things in 2016.
anyway some more thoughts
As much as I liked it overall, it seems like there are two major character areas where they REALLY dropped the ball. I was expecting Rosario Dawson to be much more of a presence. I mean they bother setting her up in the first few episodes to the point of having her character lament "I didn't want to fall in love with..." and whatever cautionary or bad it was that she said about Matt's activities, I can't recall exactly now. But then she's gone for the entire rest of the second half of the season, save for one basically cameo, to patch him up again? Literally nothing again after that.
And I'm not really sure what they're going for in the dynamic between Matt/Karen/Foggy, just that they build up this sort of gradual romance between Karen and Foggy, even have the old mexican woman say to her "I know how a man acts when he's in love, I've seen the way he looks at you", etc etc... then not only do they totally leave that alone, but by the end Foggy's practically on the door step of getting back together with that old girlfriend. And I realize she kind of redeemed herself for the "selling of her soul" she did in the interim of knowing him, but still. When they mention that at the end, I thought they might even show a tinge of jealousy in Karen, but nope. Yea they never got to a full romance, but she acknowledged that one night it had definitely become a date, and it's not like in later episodes she was behaving in a way to discourage anything Foggy felt, that like it was entirely a one sided crush or something.
I've never read the comics. They made it clear that Fisk enjoyed an eastern influence in his lifestyle, but did that necessarily mean he was trained in martial arts at all, too? Just because, he put up WAY more of a fight in that final standoff with Matt. I realize the dude's got a lot of rage he can access, but he's also a little bit overweight. That thing played out practically like he was as much of a trained warrior as Matt was.
I knew Ben was going to die the instant he mentioned to Karen how he was going to go right home and start writing up his own blog that night. Though I didn't necessarily expect the whole conversation with Fisk that would happen first. Also I absolutely figured Fisk had people in the FBI as well so there's no way he wouldn't be broken out of that transport.
I totally missed the possible Bullseye reference, but I take it everyone else noticed the nod to Elektra? in that college flashback episode, Matt talking about the Greek girl he used to date, but it didn't work out?
oh also, now the little bit of research I've done of the Stone character, realizing that's who the mystery guy was in the "Stick" episode... the way he talks about "the mystical world" and such, I wonder how much of all that stuff will possibly tie into the Doctor Strange movie.

Just finished the season last night and wow, that was a great show! I imagine people are still all over the map with how far along they are so I'll spoiler:
Two issues with the show. Karen Page SUCKS. She is just an incredibly selfish, annoying and needy character. She's constantly calling everyone multiple times a day until they answer her. What a pain in the ass. And what she did to Ben was absolutely one of the sketchiest things she could possibly do. "Oh, you want to drop out of this incredibly dangerous 'investigation' that I need your help on to deal with your dying wife? Well how about I trick you into checking out a nursing home where the most-dangerous-man-in-the-city's mother is living and endanger your life by bringing you with me???!" That was seriously awful and I was shocked that they did that. That painted her character in an awful light and instantly made my wife and I hate her. VERY odd choice by the writing team.
My other issue, which is somewhat minor, was how Fisk comes out of "hiding" in episode 7 or 8 (somewhere around there). It just seemed odd and out of place that this unknown citizen somehow gets a press conference on a major television network to broadcast his plan to help save the city. Just didn't make a whole lot of sense and quite frankly it came off as stupid.
Other than that I really loved the show. The acting was great, the story was good and the action/fighting was incredibly well done. I was disappointed they killed Ben off. I haven't read a lot of the comics, but I read a handful of Frank Miller's initial run, and it was my impression that Ben was to Daredevil what Jim Gordon is to Batman. So that seemed like an odd choice.

Shane from the Walking Dead is Punisher in Season 2.
Oh wow, that's pretty big news. Never got into the Punisher, but I'm sure they'll make it awesome. He's more of a "no rules" vigilante correct? As in he kills and just does what he thinks needs to be done.
