In regards to ep 3 and 4

I really love the character development of Kingpin. He's fascinating. He not just a big scary mob boss. He's classy, has a certain way of doing things but then he shows his true power when he bashed that Russian's head in or how the guy at the end of the third ep was afraid of him and killed himself.

Really excited that Fisk is a part of this early. I hope we get see him become full on King Pin in this first season. Would love to see him in the new Spider-Man movie as well.

Four episodes in, show is pretty fucking good. (Takes a few cues from Batman Begins, I think, but then again it's the same genre and it works so who cares.) I particularly like how the fight scenes manage to stay tense and suspenseful -- even though you know Daredevil has to win, you're entirely convinced that he may not.

My only complaint so far is

I'm not sure I like how they're handling the Kingpin. Kingpin should have risen to the top of the crime underworld first by being the smartest guy in the room, and second by being the strongest and most brutal. In many ways, he's Marvel's version of Bane -- he defies the "strong guy or smart guy" duality you see in a lot of villains.

This Kingpin seems brutal, but he's not selling me on being particularly intelligent (more the acting than the writing, I think) or a charismatic leader. He just doesn't seem like he's three steps ahead of everyone else in the room. I wish he was physically more imposing too, but I understand how that's hard to pull off. Hopefully this gets better further into the series?

I'm 3 episodes in and like it. I wish I could have gotten through more this weekend but my 4 year old wasn't having it. That and I'm old as hell and get tired at 9pm.

Also made it through 3 episodes. I planned to watch as much as possible this weekend, but my wife through some wrenches in the way. It was also wicked nice out for the whole weekend for the first time this year, so it was hard to lock myself inside and watch TV. I think this will take me a while to watch. I'm currently watching Arrow (2 weeks behind), The Flash (2 weeks behind), SHIELD (just caught up), 1 Marvel movie each week leading up to Ultron, Season 4 of Game of Thrones, just finished House of Cards and NOW Daredevil. Hard to fit it all in.

In regards to this show, I am blown away so far by how well done this is. I was expecting it to be awesome, but this is another level of awesome I wasn't expecting. The acting is fantastic and the writing is great. I like Arrow and Flash, but this far surpasses either of those and makes them look like kid shows.

Finished this weekend and here are my thoughts.

Production value on this show is amazing. Part of me wishes Marvel hadn't been so heavy-handed involved so they could have made it a little more graphic, specifically when it came to the language. I thought it was really cheesy when the cops were yelling "frigging" because they couldn't say the f-word. I get that they want to get as many people watching and including some kids but that was lame.

My favorite part of the show was Wilson Fisk. Not the character I anticipated at all. My memory of him is still from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon. But they made him such a complex character. They made him seem human and make you really believe he wants to make Hell's Kitchen into a great city. I forgot several times that he was to gain from everything if the city did well but that he had the best intentions at heart. Adding the love story was a nice touch to show how strong he was mentally going into the show. One thing I don't like about the character is his size. He felt "small" to me. Like I said, I still have 90s cartoon Kingpin in my head.

Even though I was aching for it the whole show, I'm glad they waited until the finale to show him in the suit. Really built up the anticipating and allowed the story to grow naturally. They handled the first season great because they had an origin story and needed to establish history but did it in a manner that didn't feel like an origin story. Also, really glad they showed his training too. After reading the comics that was one of the things I looked most forward too.

I'm wondering where S2 will go. Is Fisk going to be the only villain in the show? I know he's the primary one in the comics but DD has other villains and I'm curious how they'll incorporate them. Wondering how much MCU will play into the show moving forward. As mentioned in the thread, DD is more a "small-time" hero in terms of grandiosity of territory served. He's not out saving the world like Iron Man or Captain America. I'm sure there will be overflow and reactionary causes into Daredevil's world.

All said and done, they did a great job with S1. Very gritty - I had to look away during the bowling ball scene and a few others. Foggy was cheesy at times but they developed his character nicely after finding Matt beaten to death in his apartment. I'll have to do a rematch again sometime but very excited for S2 now.

Last thought, the chick who plays Karen is so hot.

Catch up on Flash. So awesome. I actually find it harder to keep up with this stuff and House of Cards cause I know it's there, while the shows I watch, are on my TiVo could get deleted if I run out of space, although unlikely, but I don't want to get too far behind on those.

Yeah, I just have to choose my nights wisely. My wife is in grad school and she studies a lot, so the TV is somewhat bothersome to her. Last night I watched Thor 2 in my weekly prep for Ultron, then she actually wanted to start watching Daredevil, so I went back and watched the first episode with her. Unfortunately Flash and Arrow have kind of fallen to the wayside a bit for me. I am 2 episodes behind on each and as of tonight and tomorrow will be 3 behind.

Watched the first two episodes, really impressed so far. I'm definitely a DC guy but this has been awesome so far. Very dark, I was not expecting that tone especially considering Marvel's past work. Pretty solid storytelling so far with the flashbacks intertwined with the present day. Looking forward to watching an episode or two today as well.

I don't have kids, but I wouldn't think it is a good show for a 14 year old. This show is nothing like the Marvel movies, or SHIELD as far as tone and kid friendliness goes. There's some language and the violence is pretty intense. I'm only 3 episodes in, but lets just say episode 3 could be a bit much for a kid. I don't know, maybe 14 is walking the line and they'd be alright, but it's a LOT darker than the rest of the Marvel world.

It's an excellent show and so far I think it could be the best comic book show I've seen. That said, it is hard to believe it's part of the same fun universe as Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers.

Yeah the death of one character was pretty gruesome. For 14, it might be ok. Hard for me to remember what I was like at 14. The language isn't much at all, I'm sure that'll be fine.

My kids are close to that age.


The violence is gory; you see bones break. No actual nudity but some nude backs. Your call if you'd let your kid watch it. I'd probably let my kids watch it but they would turn their heads a lot

Damn, end of episode 3 was intense as hell. I'm definitely hooked. So far, this is easily the best thing Marvel has ever done. Really hoping the remaining episodes keep up the quality of the first three.
