Live trax 5 vinyl question (Watchtower)

Hi,

I put in my Live Trax vinyl for the first time. It was unsealed. I noticed that on Watchtower (last song, last record), it skips after “...drink my wine...” relating this line over and over. Anyone else have this issue?

Nope. Mine is great. It might be your player that's the issue though. What player do you use?

Hmm. Seems like a pretty decent quality table. Did you clean the record before you played it? If you brought it pre used it might have some stuff in the grooves

I used a micro fiber cloth and cleaned it and still no go. I’ll use a solution tomorrow morning and see if that helps. It’s a great watchtower too. Super upset. It’s the pink version btw.

Yeah, love that Watchtower. I also have the pink version. Hope you figure out what's wrong with it.

Thanks for your feedback. Will post an update. Ugh. Frustrating, especially after paying good money for this.

Tried this morning after a thorough clean, and it still repeats. Strange especially since it was brand new and sealed before I tried. Oh well.

Fixed it! I gently pressed down on the arm a couple times. Must have been warped I guess.

Re: Live trax 5 vinyl question (Watchtower)

So what was likely happening here is that you had some debris in the groove, which blocked your stylus from advancing through the blockage. By pressing down on the tonearm, you likely applied enough force to break through the debris (which were likely fragments of the vinyl compound that weren't fully pressed or cleared by the stamper).

It's probably not a good idea to press down like that, as you may bend your stylus or alter the raking angle. In the future, if you encounter a locked-groove/repeating skip; identify where in the groove the blockage occurs, take the record off the platter, and use a toothpick to try to clear the groove.
