Yes, my friends are in a open marriage and they are very happy. She wanted the open marriage as she explained that she could not be monogamous throughout her life, it would not make her happy. She is the one who wants it more than her husband does, and he complies because she established this desire before they married.

Cheating is pretty rampant in marriages, or should I say I've been privy to many relationships where cheating has happened or is occurring. Often, it's the deception and lying that ruins these relationships.

As far as Dave's intentions, we will never know. It is possible that he could be hitting that mid-life crisis age that most men/women go through, which can bring on overly self induldgent behavior. If you feel you are running out of time, it can make you wanna do all of the things you haven't done before, quite possibly even a wild haired art student or two. This is just speculation on my part of course! Dave does not seem like the kind of guy that would be that reckless. And I would say if he was banging fans, there would be more stories like this around. However, Im close to Dave's age and speaking from my personal experience, the older you get, the more you start to question why you do what you do, including monogamy. Sometimes life feels so short that it makes it hard to tell yourself no when you want something selfish because you may not have the opportunity again. I can't possibly know how Dave feels or thinks but I doubt that he is much different than the rest of us. I would be disappointed if Dave really was trying to hook up with an 18 year old but nothing would suprise me, we are all vulnerable and fallible. On the flip side, being older makes you realize that falling in love with someone is a rarity in your life and marriage and kids are not something to be taken lightly, which Im sure Dave knows. He seems way to smart to risk loosing his wife and family for spontaneous sex with random girls. I can't really see Dave doing that unless his marriage was over and he is still wearing his ring.

Still, I doubt he was trying to get it on with an 18 yr old. Being middle-aged myself, you are right in that you reach a different phase with different questions and different temptations, yet I would never risk my relationships in exchange for 18yr old pleasures, no matter how beautiful this person was. My guess is that if Dave had some extra-curricular intentions, then he may have believed she was older. She does look older than 18.
