Re: Best 4.0 show?

Virginia Beach 2021 is a dark horse.

But my vote goes to Alpine N1, 2019

Timmy's sounding as good as he ever has. He's using far less distortion, grooving like mad, switching up what he plays and how he approaches tunes (fresh takes), and seemingly being more melodic.
Jeff got more solo features at our shows...this is always a good/great thing.
Rashawn sounded the best he ever has to me this year.
Dave's voice is the strongest it's been in years. His guitar has been sounding great the last couple of tours.
Fonz's presence keeps getting stronger and the mix is so improved for him.
    Carter is ALWAYS excellent.
Buddy is finding his place and fitting in better and better.

    They're just killing it.

I agree with everything you wrote but especially this, he's so well connected to every part of his voice right now and more so than I've seen in years. His transitions with going back and forth between chest, head, falsetto was so smooth and controlled, he's singing so bassy without a ton of strain and very accurate. I was basically in awe on Saturday, it's inspiring.

So it’s LT45. That’s the best show since Roi left.
    This.

Best show 2018 onward? Man SPAC N2 2021 has to be up there...I don't have a strong argument against off the top of my head.

Thought the 2018 MSG shows were some of the best they sounded with that Cortez being a big moment for the band with Buddy. Not sure 2018 MSG sounded anywhere near as good though as SPAC (cue the recency bias).

No way. Peter's last show was March 23, 1993, which predates every album (Recently and RTT) by a long shot. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe he was even on the demo.

The 2018 MSG shows were up there. 2019 WPB N1 and Des Moines are up there. 2010 Gorge N3 is right up there for me too: http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...110&where=2010.

And SPAC N2 was the best show I've seen in years. Everything about it was on point. I never say this about 5.0 shows... but it's Live Trax worthy.

The band just had an energy about them I haven't seen in a long time. It's hard to describe if your weren't there. The crowd was also on another level. A show that won't be forgotten for a long time for anyone there.

Yes way. Was the band not a band before Remember Two Things was recorded? Was Peter not in the band from 1991 - 1993? Did he not play hundreds of shows with them?

It makes no sense that someone would consider Remember Two Things as the beginning of this band.

While I agree, I think things like “energy” and the crowd into the discussion feeds into the whole recency bias thing. What matters most to me is good songs being played and obviously a lot of that is preference.

I think it tops most 2018/19 shows because all the CT slots that were so heavily allotted were basically swapped out for Busted Stuff tunes.

He certainly did not: http://dmbalmanac.com/GuestStats.aspx?gid=101. By your measure, is Warren Haynes a band member? He's guested almost as many shows (http://dmbalmanac.com/GuestStats.aspx?gid=40) as Peter but has been "with" the band over a much broader range of time. Your argument doesn't make sense.

They're covers. I know how long they've been around, I'd rather not hear/see them live. Don't care about their status as staples. I'd rather EVERY AAtW get replaced w/ JTR, DT, PM, DS, BS, BT, etc. AAtW doesn't do anything for me, never has...whatever it had I got out of it at SPAC in '96.

It's cool though that you and others enjoy it...obviously.

One or two songs regardless of placement shouldn't kill the quality of a great show. I don't mind Monkey, so it didn't bother me. Two covers did, but not enough to negate that awesome show.

Did you see the main set? Would you rather a steady diet of Bayou, Can’t Stop, and other random CT garbage like in 18-19?

Exactly. As much as I hated the Shake me closer, it was a lot easier to take after Xmas song and that set instead of hearing a show full of come tomorrow for the umpteenth time.

    From Peter's page...

"Peter is considered a member of the band on all full-band shows from 8.21.91 to 3.13.93."

Looked for that on Warren's page. Wasn't there.

Also, there's a huge difference between 1179 song appearances (Peter. Because he was a member of the band for almost 2 years) and 87 song appearances (Warren... who was never a member of the band).

So, no. I don't consider Warren a band member. Because he was not a band member, like Peter was.

SPAC N2 2021 best show of this iteration of the band? No way. I attended and the main set was very solid, but….

A show where a significant (we can argue about how significant) portion of the fan base is going home upset with how the show ended? Can’t be the top for me. Maybe I value the encore more than I should. But going home on a high is very important to me.

The best show would have to have an incredible last 4 or 5 song run.

My personal favorite of the 20 or so I’ve been to in last 3 tours is seen below. Love seeing other people’s opinions. Also kinda hard to pick a show you weren’t at.

It wasn’t just the set list. The band sounded great. And the set list was great. One mediocre song to end it doesn’t change that. I honestly mean it when I said that this was the best show I’ve seen in years.

Have listened to both. Prefer SPAC N2. This one is definitely top 3 though. It’s very close

    Ooooh I love this.

    Tampa for you?
I’m not saying spac isn’t good and I’m sure most here will read into it like I am.

    Re: Best 4.0 show?

There's a lot to choose from between Tampa, Deer Creek, Gorge N1, SPAC, many other shows. It's just nice there are a bunch at this level this year.
