Best 4.0 show?

Fine. 6.0. I actually agree with that. But I changed it to 5.0 to appease people around here, because of the short amount of time Boyd wasn't in the Band.

But if we're doing that, we need to count the first half of 2008 when Roi was in the band w/Rashawn & Tim.

So it's actually 7.0.

Again, if it's less than a year/full tour, I don't need to consider it a full version of the band. I accept pre-Boyd as .5 and Roi, Tim & Rashawn as 3.5.

No, I still think 2019 is underrated. Alpine N1 2019 still a top show for me and actually the Ants ratings agree with me ranking it higher above my three 2021 shows.

2019 might have had more clunkers from Come Tomorrow in heavy rotation but the encores of 2021 are still a huge negative, it is the last thing you take away from a show. Also don't forget Two Step, JTR, The Last Stop, Sugar Will, Joyride were all popping up.

Basically comparing 2019 and 2021 answer this: would you take a dud song or two more in each set to not have a Sister-Shake Me, or Singing from the Windows-DDTW encore. That is basically 2019.

They ruined Last Stop, SUAD has replaced Joyride which is a + transaction in my book, Drive in Drive Out has popped up a handful of times to replace the Sugar Will plays (which has still appeared twice) and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that JTR pops up 2 more times this tour which would tie 2019 in plays (one of the plays was in the Europe winter tour so is kind of moot in the ‘19 v ‘21 summer tour discussion.)

I’ll give you The Two Step point which kind of ties into the encores being lackluster, which I also agree with but I think you’re underestimating the song selection improving this year.

I think there’s far more than one or two duds being replaced by better songs this year because there was routinely a good 3-5songs allotted to CT songs every show that weren’t even the good CT songs. Not only that but trash like Stand Up and Bayou were also in heavy rotation in addition.

I also take into consideration how the band sounds. This is the first year I can remember when you can hear Dave's guitar as plain as day. Buddy's sound has evolved into something wonderful. They sound fantastic as a band. And JTR, Sugar Will and Two Step have all popped up this year.

I'm not one to judge an entire tour just because the ended SPAC with a less desirable song. I can cherry pick great encores from this tour, and I'm sure I could cherry pick weak encores from 2019.

Spot on about Dave’s guitar. This year was the first in a while where I could actually hear what he was playing in the middle of a jam.

It’s between Tampa ‘21 and SPAC n2 ‘21 for me. I’m biased being at both shows, but I stand by these 2 selections.

The 2 Carolina shows are up there for me as well because of the pure excitement and surprising set lists, but there’s been better shows over the past 4 years.

This has been my favorite tour I’ve attended hands down.

I was at Mansfield this year. Incredible set, band was full of energy. 2nd behind the Two Set DMB shows of mid 2010s in my opinion. I thought Gorge was pretty cool too and SPAC Of course

This. As some have mentioned here their tastes don't align with what dmb evolved into. That is totally valid. They are not the same band sonically they were from 1991-2008. The sound changed and evolved in those years but the core sound stayed roughly the same.

Over the past 13 years due to RR, Roi's death, Boyd's deteriorating skill and commitment to his craft, Dave's outlook on life, and quite possibly his taste in what kind of band he wanted the band has shifted from a quirky, unique, genre defying band to much more polished rock band with a horn section. This coupled with a stark difference in what Dave writes about has created a divide in the fanbase.

Me too. And you're right, that was a great show. Definitely the best poster of the year so far.
