That is still allowed. You can also bring in one sealed water bottle or empty ones to fill up in the venue

Thanks for all the tips, Jen. I’ve been reading along. I plan to maybe visit the downtown area the day of before tailgating and am staying in Cary after the show before heading to Charlotte. Will gladly take BBQ/Brewpub type places recommendations. Thanks again!

The Pit downtown is great and more upscale. Smokeys is a dive but great food as well. Fortnight Brewery is in Cary and there are bunch of other good ones scattered around in Raleigh. What part of Cary are you staying in?

For beer I like Raleigh Brewing and Lonerider. Both have food trucks to get some grub while there.

Lookin forward to Raleigh! Never done a tour opener so it should be a good time.

I must say, drunken ordered BBQ and southern style cooking after the show just sounds incredible. Reminds me of the 5 or 6 orders of brisket and French fries I got across 3 days at the Gorge....

I think my poor play had something to do with the time zone change. How NFC West teams struggle on the east coast sort of deal...

We’ll run back plenty of games in the lots here tho!

    Forget the shows.

I went ahead and got lawn tickets. I don’t want to rely on the secondary market with the demand this show will probably have. Maybe the boards will bless me with something better.

Honestly though, I don’t know how Live Nation lives with themselves listing $400 premium reserved seats that aren’t even under the pavilion roof. It’s criminal.

Holiday Inn/Suites. Sorry this will be my first time so I don’t know what part - haha.

I think that's over on Dillard Drive, about a mile from my house. Right near Home Depot and Lowes in case you need to build something before the show lol

Super excited for the NC Two Step. It's cool to know the tour opens with a "two-night stand" in your home state. As someone who joined the DMB fan train late in the game (2013), this biggest thing I'm excited about is the fact that there will be no expectations or trends to watch to try to predict what they'll play in Raleigh. There's a big sense of mystery around the setlist for sure.

By the venue. The venue is roughly 20 min from downtown (we actually call it Uptown here, lol). Fair warning, parking is atrocious and it’ll take you an hour and a half to get out after the show.

During Watchtower in 2018 I ran literally as fast as I could, probably looking like a total crazy person, to the car so I could leave ASAP. That's the only time I've ever gotten out in a reasonable time from a normal show there... like 10-15 mins.

In 2019 after the storm, we were parked across the street and that was no problem to get out instantly. But that was like 12:30am after so many people had left during the lengthy show delay so I know that's not normal.

In 2016 the show let out at 11:10p. I live 8 minutes from the venue and didn’t get home until 1:45a. It’s gotten a little better since then, but it’s still my least favorite parking lot at any venue I’ve been too. Bristow is a close second.

Has anyone ever had a car service for pickup/drop off? Do limos, etc. have special access lanes or parking? Some venues do that and it’s worth the cost.

And I realize this sounds ridiculous.

I'm seeing reserved lawn "seats" on the live Nation website for the Charlotte show. It is dead center in the lawn area and has what looks like seat selections but when you click on it, it says reserved lawn 65.50 plus fees..anyone know what this is? Is it a reserved 2 foot space on the lawn?

Does the vip lot have a separate exit? I know some live nation venues are like that

All this aside, it can’t be worse than Gillette. Saw a few concerts there and everything time, you wait hours just to get backed up on route one. Fucking sucks.

They have a concrete mini section of seats out there, or at least they used to. It's basically an extension of the regular seats, just with the walkway between the lawn and reserved being right in front of you, and the front center of the lawn directly behind you. Not worth it to me, but some people really want their own seat.

Thank you. Sight lines ok from there? Sounds like if you get stuck behind a tall person, you won't be able to move like you would if its just regular lawn. My wife and I are both 5 ft 5 inches and we were gonna do regular lawn because we are thinking about bringing our toddler with ear protection and just chilling in the lawn but these lawn "seats" have me intrigued.

Yeah it might be advantageous in that regard, just because you are elevated over the walkway and basically eye level from the back row of pavilion seats. In most of my shows at charlotte they usually have a few or many more open, that people jump the rail from lawn and sit there the second half of the show most likely for that very reason. I find the walkway and mini stairs into the seats to be a major distraction, but you can't argue the sight lines.

Any recommendations for areas to look for Charlotte hotels? There are some grouped relatively close to the venue (University City North/South/College Downs/Concord), but don't know anything about the area.

Looking for info as well! I see a bunch of hotels in the "university area" between the venue and downtown. I am currently booked at holiday inn express over there. Was wondering if there's any good hotels for walking distance of breweries, etc in the university area. Thanks !

Staying in the university area is the best location to stay in for the show. There's lots of bars and even a brewery (armored cow) that make staying uptown not worth the inconvenience as far as traveling to and from the show. Not to mention, if you stay in university, you can easily hop on the light rail to head uptown if you really want to see the city.
