Hopcat crack fries are WAYYY overrated. Beer selection is top notch though (can only speak to the one in Kzoo)

    Best Restaurants Nearby:
Stella's - Hole in wall place, that has real good burgers and spicy food. Old fashioned arcade inside, and considered a whiskey bar. spicy fries which are great but can't remember the name
Hopcat - Same owners as Stella's - more of a family restaurant, but a good choice of beer and food - cosmic fries are great - used to be called crack fries if that tells ya anything but our PC culture ruined it.
Founders - IMO the best beer around (besides maybe bells) - this place is HUGE and has a sweet beer garden and good sandwiches
Butchers Union - Best food in Grand Rapids IMO - also a whiskey bar - can get a burger for $10 or steak for $40.

    Good Bars:
Peppinos - Just a big sports bar right around the corner that has decent food and typical beers
The B.O.B. - 4 story bar with multiple restaurants - is a good place to hang before a show because they typically have specials and its right across the street

    Notable mentions:
Grand Rapids Market - has Social restaurant which has a great brunch and slows bbq which is great
Yesterdog - this is in east town but not too far, and has some grimey delicious hot dogs - open to like 3 am.

There is A TON more than this, but these are my favorites. Pumped that DMB is heading to my city.
Taking an uber to Yesterdog post show is always an excellent idea.

The BOB will likely be an ideal place for a meetup, although not my favorite spot.

I went to college in GR but it's been so long! Now I only make it back a few times a year.

Everything at Hopcat is overrated except the beer selection.

The ONE good item on the menu, they no longer have!! (The Royal with cheese...)

I've only been once (to the Detroit location) and don't see a reason to go back but then again I'm not a drinker. I'm guessing most will the at the BOB for the GR show since it's right by the hotels and the venue.

I really don't like arena shows, but I'm actually pretty excited about the GR show!

I am from Kalamazoo/Portage, went to GVSU, and now live about 10 mins from DTE.

I think a ton of HS and college friends who are casual friends will definitely be going to the GR shows. Seen lots of FB posts from people I didn't even know were fans, and would certainly never travel for a show. Or even drive to DTE on a weeknight for that matter. But now that the band is playing in their backyard so to speak, everyone wants tickets.

Hanging out downtown GR pre-show doesn't hurt either

I feel the same way but am thinking about making the trek as my sister lives in GR. Happy to hear people say this venue is good for live shows. Some arenas the sound is just so brutal.

Check out the SS Badger that goes across the lake from milwaukee. Not sure if that helps save you some time but migth a good change up going one way or the other.

I believe the Badger is the older coal ship...it’s a 4 hour journey from Manitowoc (sp?) to ludington. There a newer high speed from Milwaukee. I don’t know what “hi speed” means but FYI if you look into this option.

I think you are right but I could only think of the Badger.

Not a bad drive from Ludington to GR

Just so everyone knows, there is not a bad seat in this place. Sound is good everywhere, and vision is always good. Honestly I think the seats behind the pit would be the worst, but that is my opinion.

I would agree with you about the seats on the floor behind the pit unless you are tall, even then I might rather have front row on the side.

Sucks because I am just not a PIT person

Historically DTE has gotten some pretty good sets

I lived in Chicago (downtown) for 12 years and we always came back for the Michigan shows. Great to get out of the city and so many places to visit!

You can hit up the lakeshore Sunday- new buffalo, union pier, three oaks. st joe etc
