Red Rocks vs. Gorge

After the rumors of a DMB weekend at Red Rocks in 2012 surfaced it got me thinking.... Which weekend should I attend in 2012 RR or the Gorge?

I've never done either and am planning on going to the gorge this summer, but when RR rumors surfaced I'm now trying to decide which I should go to since I can't afford both.

What are the pros/cons of both places and which place would you ants go if you can only do one?

If they did both every year it would be Gorge for sure. But since RR almost never happens I'd go with that.

    (I've done both)

I'm assuming tickets to RR will be much tougher to get/expensive right?

I've only done RR, and had planned to make my first trip to the Gorge this year, but if the RR rumors are true I'll be making a return trip to Morrison.

I wouldn't pass up the chance to do Red Rocks. The venue is spectacular and DMB shows there are very rare. I love the Gorge and have been there every year since 2000 except two, but I am willing to give it up this year if there are truly RR shows.

Tickets will be a challenge to get because the venue is significantly smaller than traditional summer venues.

I've been thinking about this today too and would probably pass up the gorge for a year if this is true.

I'm doing Gorge for sure. If Red Rocks is true, I will be doing both. If I had to choose one, I would probably do Red Rocks since this would be the band's first shows there since 2005, whereas they play Gorge every year.

I would like to do Red Rocks before Gorge. More chances to see them at Gorge.

They do the Gorge every year, go to Red Rocks while you can. I'll be doing RR this year instead of the Gorge if it happens.

Well I want to go to Red Rocks, but since tickets will be extremely difficult to get, you should go to the Gorge.

Where do you stay around Red Rocks? Is there camping, or what do people typically do?

I've never been to either, but I had my heart set of doing the Gorge this year. So I went with that. Plus the stress of getting tickets to RR would be off the charts compared to Gorge

The one bummer with Red Rocks is there is no camping. There are plenty of hotels in nearby Golden or back into Denver/Lakewood which is about a 5-15 minute drive depending on where you stay. You can park in the lots as early as you want the day of the show.

Already decided I'm doing both. Can't pass up a weekend at the Gorge (my favorite weekend of the year), and also can't pass up an opportunity to see them at Red Rocks. It's all about saving your money wisely people!

Yeah, I'm thankful I got a new credit card with 0% APR until the end of the year, cause it's about to get some use!

I live an hour from Red Rocks and will basically have no shot at tickets to all three nights of Red Rocks. This will be a hard ticket if you plan on paying face value. so I'm probably doing the gorge. Haha.
