I have actually seen a bunch of Krasno's guest spots and I do agree '01 had good turns. However, Meadows '06 had a fine spot with Smooth Rider then Dave waved him to stay on for Ants Marching and I have never seen someone look so lost on stage for an extended period of time.

Bob Weir on the Maker at Berkeley in 2016... I honestly don't know if he just showed up last minute to jam on it.. But it was really bad.. and I love GD and Bob Weir.. Just didn't fit the sound.. His voice was terrible.. It didn't go anywhere.. Bob is pretty unique and maybe it was just an experiment that didn't go well..

That’s also the last FULL Last Stop they played before it turned into Half Stop.

Hamilton killed Last Stop and for this I will never forgive him.

They absolutely butchered the transition into the extended outro. Hamilton was having a lot of fun and I thought it was fine up until that point but that’s such a huge payoff in the song. Not a version I’d go back to if I wanted to listen to LS.

That's fair. I haven't listened to that show so I don't feel like I can really comment one way or another. I'm also a fan of Krasno's, and I think there are some songs he's tailor-made to guest on, but I can see how there are others that don't fully leverage his particular sound.

His opening set on 12/10/05 turned me into a massive Doughty/Soul Coughing fan but that Jimi was just hysterically awful.

Danny Barnes ruined the Gorge in 2009. No one wanted to see DMB be that motherfucker's backup band every single night. If I want to hear Danny Barnes's shit, I'll attend one of his gigs. Playing "Road" all three nights was blasphemous

I got the impression Black Eyed Peas got through security somehow to do what they did on stage with the band. I don't even count that as a guest spot.

I don't find Black Eyed Peas guesting disappointing. Maybe disappointing that they were even there. But I consider disappointing something that should have been awesome and wasn't. Can't use that to describe the Black Eyed Peas. In no way would it ever be awesome. I think Alanis in Denver is probably the right answer.

No kidding right?!!! That Sugar Will is the highlight of LT2 for me and is absolutely the best performance of the song.

Pains me to say it cause U2 was my first favorite band and they’re some great songwriters but they don’t do much in the way of improvisation and it showed.
Came here to say basically the same thing. Edge is a very different kind of guitar player, one whose style doesn't fit in at all with DMB's improvisational nature. But what a fucking WASTE of a guest spot, having The Edge play on fucking SMOOTH RIDER!!

Edge can actually churn out a pretty kickass guitar solo, but it has to be well rehearsed. If you want proof, check out live versions of "Bullet the Blue Sky" or "Love Is Blindness".

Until The End Of The World is one of my favorites. That was the first solo I ever learned how to play, he’s the classic example of not playing a lot of notes but playing the right ones.

Still an absolute gem of a show.

For sure the most disappointing guest I've seen live. When he came out I thought "oh wow, this should be pretty legendary", and then Weir was almost inaudible for the first half of the song and was looking at the mic like he was terrified of it. Strange for sure.

Of shows I wasn't at, Mike Doughty. I'm a big fan and would have assumed he could do some great vocal improv over a Jimi, but Nooooooooooo.

While I haven’t back read based on personal experience it’s hands down Amos Lee guesting on The Maker at Camden a few years back. I love The Maker and equally love seeing Amos, but not at the same time.

Yeah, I guess he is noticeable, but it's an underwhelming song for him to be on. And honestly, I am unsure what he is doing. There is just spacey noises (Butch or him?) then some plucking/repetitive notes (him, Boyd or Dave?).

I always wanted a clear video of this song to see him playing, but alas it's just the Live Trax audio.
