I am the same way. I really liked BW, AFTW and CT. I love discovering new music, especially when it's made by some of my favorite artists. It's like finally getting to read the next chapter in your favorite book. I am a very easy fan to please, honestly. Would I enjoy a setlist featuring ONLY material from Stand UP onwards... Hell NO! But the attitude around here seems to be that only the BIG 3 are any good, and the rest of the albums are tolerated. I just don't agree. I'm excited for what's next! I'd love to have releases of Break Free, KTK, Shotgun, Sugar Will, Bismarck, DOTHS, etc etc etc. I'm also interested to see what they write next.

I will say, however... COCO is my favorite on CT, but it SUCKS live. They don't capture the "march" feeling of the album at all. I'm all for them skipping that one.

I think the production credits will be the same as CT. I still never got past Mark Batson saying "we have so much material between us producers that we could come back and make another album next week." I don't think he was bluffing

I don't think batson is going anywhere at this point. I would actually like to see these guys go into studio with someone like Todd rundgren or Jeff Lynne to produce.

Jeff Lynne is one of my idols, so that would be unreal for me lol. On the next record, Batson will for sure have his nose in it, but I doubt they commit fully to him. I think they'll use whatever is leftover from Cavallo's sessions, and use a duo of Batson and Alagia to fill out the rest of the album / record any new tunes

I just don't want another She or Come Tomorrow (the song) on a new album. Some of Batson's stuff from the leaked sessions is really cool and interesting (ABC, Ask, Red Glare, Bullets and Rum). I'd like to see what became of those.

Keep dreaming. Shotgun will never be on an album. Dave is too happy for that song.

Dave has said the sound of Can’t Stop is the sound he wants the band to have going forward. Yuck.

With that said, I highly doubt they’ll release Bismarck since it sounds like “old” DMB.

I agree, Dave hates where the band came from. Mid life crisis has hit him in a terrible way. The i don't give a f*ck anymore when i turned 50 quote from him just rubbed me the wrong way. Neil Young did the same thing in the 80's but Dave is not Neil Young and Neil Young is not Dave . I hate to say it but DMB is a machine now just like the Grateful Dead was in the early/mid 90's, DMB is just lucky Roi and Boyd have Departed. The Dead lost Jerry. If DMB lost Dave there would be no DMB.

    ^Yep, this.

Regarding that interview, people will say "Oh that's just Dave being Dave, you can't take what he says too seriously." If I recall, it was a pretty in-depth/reflective/serious interview. So that excuse doesn't work.

I want new music and I also want Break For It on the album. That's one of my favorite DMB tunes. "I could walk through any door if I could always be this sure" is such a great line.

This is why I didn’t include it. I love Shotgun, and I think they could make it an amazing studio tune, but I just can’t see Dave releasing a song that’s essentially about suicide

Come tomorrow may be the worst album they’ve done, they can only improve but I’m in no way excited for a new album. We’ll see what becomes of it and hope for the best.

It's a great example of how much the overall production matters. I think Everyday would have been received a bit better if it sounded like that cut of Joyride--the same goes for Come Tomorrow.

Re: Dave discusses writing new songs, wanting to record music w/ new DMB lineup soon

Wow, for my ears CT is leagues above ED and SU...can't fathom thinking it's anywhere near their worst album. I do get that some folks find themselves unable to adjust to the band sounding and being different, but that's got nothing to do with the quality of music on the album.

Production, however, is a funny thing for me. I really don't care about it, it's the songs. We've all heard and generally agree with the notion that you can't polish a turd, but I also find that you can't make a good song bad because of production and mix. I don't find the studio versions of any of the tracks from R2T on any later albums to be any "better" and certainly no more enjoyable. It's not that I can't hear the differences, it's just that they don't matter to me as they don't improve the music in anyway. My favorite version of BF, for instance, is actually from early in the 2016 tour with a great performance from...gasp!!!...Boyd of all people.

Some of tLWS session was clearly almost done, while other tunes are clearly still being refined and I think they all sound great. Same with the handful of stuff I like from tBS. The reality is that some of the best sounding versions of songs are live versions, be it from R2T or the latest Live Trax releases...not to mention tapes from shows that have yet to be officially released.

I remain a fan of CT and was pleasantly surprised with the new tunes that we'd not heard prior to their release or being played live on last year's summer tour. More recent stuff like DOtHS, VItR, Bismark, etc. have been great live and those there were recorded and released still sound great.

More is what I want, and as with the past I'll like what I like and disregard the rest...

Honestly, the CD has been in my jeep for a week and haven't even listened to that track. Dave's voice is shot but musically I love that typical and sugar will, hello again and twy. I really would just like the vaults to be emptied but I'd want those versions to have roi and Boyd, which now probably won't happen.
