If only she knew what a great deal you got. Next pay check I'll be on the look out for an ebay auction.

well she sees me get like 5-6 albums for $20 at the store downtown...

I tried to justify the lack of shows this summer (didn't make it to any festivals)...she's warming up to it!

You can get stuff cheaper than that, but you get what you pay for...
thanks for the info! I am going to spend about.....$50-$100

You can certainly find stuff in that price range, but for new tables it's going to be, quite frankly, garbage.

If you're looking to stick around $100, I would look for a nicer vintage table in good condition. You'll be able to find something much nicer than you'll get for $100 new.

What's the best way to display vinyl records? My friend just bought a record player and is starting to collect records but he just keeps them in a dresser drawer.

I just moved into my new place three weeks ago and it took me that long to finally find something that fit with my setup. I don't know if you have Michael's where you live but they have pre-made square wooden shelves (unstained). I bought one set where three boxes were attached and then three individual boxes. I set it up with the three on the bottom going horizontal than two individuals on top of them and then one individual on top of the two. So the six boxes look like a staircase if you can picture that. I put some bricks under them to give it a little height and wallah they fit perfectly under my bar displayed to all that come by. It looks really cool, like something you'd see at a record store and the total cost was $100. You'll pay over $200 to get something like this online or pre-assembled from some other place.

That sounds pretty cool - I need something to display my records...they're just in milk crates now.

Do you have a picture or link to item on Michael's site?

IMO this is the best way to go. You cannot beat the $69.99 price tag. You can display it vertically or horizontally and it looks great.

Where's a website where I can upload a pic? That's a great deal. I was just constrained with height and I was wanting to do something that looked a little less ordinary.

You can upload a pic right to the boards. There's an attach files option in the advanced reply screen.

Hey, that's not a bad thing--all those empty boxes will influence you to buy more records.

what I like about those boxes is it absolutely looks like they were made to showcase vinyl. I think it's a perfect match. I don't think I'm even going to stain the wood. I kinda like the way it looks right now.

I wanted you all to see this. I just got it this weekend. It's all my tickets from the concerts I went to from probably when I was 12 to this year at 24. The tickets around the outer edge are the 27 DMB shows I've gone to starting in 02.

That's awesome. I'm glad I'm keeping my tickets so someday I'll have something like this.

And I love the vinyl displays. Once I get my own place, I'm definitely going to do something cool like that.

Thanks man. Ya, I just moved into my first actual place that's my own and I must say I like doing the solo thing. I don't have to worry about all drama that can come with having a roommate anymore and it was pretty cool being able to get things like the vinyl display and the picture frame to make the place my own.

I just ordered the Rega Rp1 a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone knew how hard it would be to add on a speed box myself later on? When I say speed box I'm referring to the device that allows you to switch between 33 and 45rpm. Also, is this device even necessary? How long does it take to switch between the two speeds manually on an audiophile turntable

It takes me around 5 seconds. It's really dead simple and very, very quick.
