weekend on the rocks

ive been doing a lot of listening to (the complete) weekend on the rocks, and ive noticed that besides being very everyday heavy ( ) the drumming on basically every song sounds perfect... just really clean and tight and sounds clear... why is it noticeably better than on other releases or is it just me?

Sure you didn't mean to say "Stand Up heavy"? Everyday x2, WTWE and What You Are spanned across 4 days isn't exactly heavy.

I imagine it has a lot to do with the mixing and mastering or, maybe, the acoustics of the venue. But I know nothing of these things...

Weekend On The Rocks minus a lot of the Stand Up and Everyday tunes still has a lot of great stuff goin' on.

I don't know, but the drums on Halloween is sick. Carters intro and the end of Halloween is awesome.

He really gets going on those bass drums. Yeah, I guess this is mixed pretty good for Carter.

so the song of the day LIOG thread prompted me to listen to WOTR straight through. Haven't listened to it in awhile. I've been studying since 1PMish and have just made it to N3. This is actually quite a balanced release. Mix is superb. Setlists are awesome even with SU heavy rotation. N4 is a little weird, but it's so much jamming. Looking forward to getting to N4.

N4 started great and then this run happened:

    Everyday »
Everybody Wake Up (Our Finest Hour Arrives)
Old Dirt Hill (Bring That Beat Back)
    Hunger for the Great Light
    American Baby Intro
    Dreamgirl
    Jimi Thing [21.5 minutes long!]

I remember setlist watching N4....people were freaking out (think the boards may have even crashed for a bit) with the Recently, DIDO, Typical opening three. Then, all hell broke loose.

After Recently, DIDO and Typical, I was pumped. I thought they were going to try to outdo N3, which was pretty damned great for an '05 gig.

    Then, well. Umm. Yeah.

Edit: That has to be high in the running for worst run ever.

the end of that show was cringeworthy selection wise, but they did some fun things. it was an enjoyable listen. Great collection of songs, old and new. only downside is SU material isn't mature yet.

not really as dreamgirl clocks in somewhere around ten and ABI clocks in at 12.

the show was 14 songs and it was still 2 hrs and 18 minutes. it was the 2nd longest show of that 4 night weekend

I made an Encore Trax mix to supplement the 2 disc version from the Complete Weekend set. Listened before I went to sleep last night & it flows pretty nicely. I used 8 tracks and the mix has a running time of 75 minutes.

Encore Trax: Weekend On The Rocks

    Seek Up (9.10)
    Don't Drink The Water (9.10)
    Hello Again (9.10)
    Rhyme & Reason (9.10)
    Butterfly (9.11)
Everybody Wake Up (Our Finest Hour Arrives) (9.12)
    American Baby Intro (9.12)
    Dreamgirl (9.12)

That's a good encore trax in terms of diversity. I dig that Seek Up and ABI.

My favorite version of Bartender they've ever played from N1.

Love Weekend on the Rocks. Haven’t listened to it in ages. Most hate Stand Up, but a handful of those tunes sounded really solid on that release. A lot better than how they sound now.

I'd sit through that run of songs 7 days a week if I knew Exodus would come after that.

Poor take. I get the hate for SU. 4 days at Red Rocks was phenomenal.

The album is produced horribly but there are a bunch of songs that transfer well live, plus it was just a better lineup in '05
