His interaction with the mother is the thing I am the least interested in.

I wouldn't say I'm not interested to see Ted's interactions with the mother, but it's true that the build up to HOW he meets her is the most interesting piece. I still think there's going to be a story arc in the final season that explains why he's telling the kids this story.

i thought about that too.

what if robin is really the wife... but we know she's not able to have kids, so he's telling them how he met their mother/surrogate, whatever. and the whole point of the show isn't really about the mother... but how a group of friends got to where they are.

Also, if the lightsaber doesn't make an appearance at this next season's Thanksgiving episode then the writers really fucked up. Didn't it say 4-5 years down the road? Or something to that effect?

The episode aired in 2008, was the episode where Barney and Ted get in a "fight" behind the bar.

I stopped after this season started but my girlfriend still watches it because she refuses to quit. So I'm still exposed to it, its such a shame this show used to be so good. Jason Segel is very funny but he has almost nothing to do anymore.

Do people really think the show is that bad? It's still better than most shows on TV no? I just watch, if I laugh great, if not, oh well.

This season was off to a good start but it's slumping again.

Even when it's terrible, it's still only a 20 minute show and they only air a new episode like every six weeks, so it's not some massive time commitment to finish the series.

It's funny how people mention that lack of new episodes. Last I checked, they have 23 episode seasons every year, just like every other sitcom.

Is it because people look forward to the show so much that when it's not a new episode they are greatly disappointed?
