Thats what DMB taught me. That carnal emotion can be produced in a manner that others around you can listen to as well.
I didn't have many metal friends and no one could ever "hear" my music.
However, I always had a hard time with bands whose lead singers did the whole "grumble, grumble, look at how scary my voice sounds", kinda thing.
Bands like slayer and cradle, I wish they would re-release everything w/o the vocals.
Slipknots 1st 2 were some of my last favs back when. I'm totally stoked on checking out Hudaks recomendation when I get the chance.
Speaking of melody: That is probably what also drew me to punk.
By the way, I should have multiquoted the whole Tool thing.
