Figured I'd create a thread given this comes out soon. They announced today it's going to be a 9 episode run.

Also per this new promo the Frozen composers (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) are doing the theme songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLf7hB-zSqI

Is the name Wanda connected to or a reference to Wanda Cinemas as a link to China/Chinese audiences? Wanda is a huge name in China.

Instead of “Television” they combined the name of the two main characters: Wanda Maximoff (aka the Scarlet Witch) and The Vision.

If using Wanda helps push the show in Chinese markets, I’m sure Disney is happy. Considering the show spoofs American sitcoms from the 50’s to 2000’s, I don’t know how appealing it will be.

I am so excited for this ... I mean anything MCU after this long would be great...but pretty pumped.

Should go right from this into Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well!

This is gonna be great. Hope it doesn't go too weird like Legion did. I imagine Disney would have tighter reins on it before got too far down that rabbit hole. I'm think it's gonna be pretty weird first few weeks then come together really well. Big payoff. Excited to see how it sets up the multiverse and Dr. Strange 2.

    Re: WandaVision (Disney+)

I'm excited that we're getting two episodes the first week. I imagine this will also help sell the format to more casual fans who'd be confused if it was just a 50's sitcom. This also means the season finale will be Friday March 5th. So Marvel is giving us a week off between WandaVision and Falcon & the Winter Soldier.

If you go on Disney+ today there is a new thing called "Marvel Legends" and it basically recaps key moments to characters. It's basically akin to a DVD extra and each episode is only a few minutes. I'm sure each time there's an off week between shows we'll get new episodes. I'd only recommend it if you haven't watched the movies in a while and need a quick refresher.

I got through an episode-and-a-half before getting inundated with work calls. Nothing groundbreaking thus far, but I always expected it to be bit of a slow burner.

Watched both episodes this morning. Liked it well enough. Not a fan of the kitschy 50s stuff but see what it's going for. The little breaks for the overarching storyline are keeping me reeled in and are gonna pay off huge at the end.

Planning to watch tonight. Been looking forward to this the most of any of the new Disney+ shows. The thing I'm most curious about is if it's going to be more '80s comics series, more recent Tom King series (which was phenomenal), or a blend of both.

Just finished both. Really thought the first episode nailed the 50s vibe. Truly laughed a lot. As a result I was really taken aback by episode two which was so much different. Liked it very much though.

Loved both episodes. Really nailed the 50’s vibe in the first episode, and the 60’s vibe in the second. The underlying horror elements are also cool. I guess growing up and watching reruns on Nick at Nite has finally paid off.

Are they decade hopping until we get brought back to the present and find out something about what's going on with Wanda?

I like the underlying story that seems will likely be a big payoff at the end but I can't stand the 50s/early 60s stuff. I hate those old shows. My wife binged I Love Lucy and I hated it. So hokey.

What kept me engaged was the small nuances and subtleties of the larger story. I think as they progress to more modern television the episodes will get better.

Yes, and every decade it covered. The first two episodes were actually shot with a live studio audience, and tried to stay true to the practical effects of the time.

Eventually it gets to an Office/Modern Family style show. Then I assume the illusion gets broken and the villain gets revealed.

You’d probably be better off waiting until February and binging past the sitcom stuff. Assuming each episode covers a decade, the earliest we return to normal is Feb 19th.

    Jan 15: 50’s and 60’s
    Jan 22: 70’s
    Jan 29: 80’s
    Feb 05: 90’s
    Feb 12: 00’s

Stupid question, but when it gets to “normal MCU” it will be after the events of far from Home?
