$30 I'd be ok with honestly. I like the collectors aspect of it for sure but I want to listen to this and my music listening time just isn't with vinyl. Especially that many songs, ya know? An album is one thing but that many songs have to flip sides and stuff.

The whole mix is brighter and more rounded on the WH disc, whereas it's kind of flat on the LT. Also note that Dave's vocal at the start of Pig is missing on LT 26, but it's there on the WH disc. Same song, literally mixed TWICE for separate releases.

Now why would they mix a song twice if the full show was ready to go all along? 7/30/03 has three songs individually released prior to getting selected for a LT, and each of those songs not only sound different from the eventual LT album, but also sound pretty different from each other. Almost... as if... they were mixed... separately!
that one show has FOUR separate releases. perfectly proves my point.

not sure what you're talking about. do you mean where they chose to place the track break? what vocal?

Hard to tell how many are left using the normal tricks since they've hard capped it at 1.

Relax your commenting fingers and go listen to the actual tracks. LISTEN to the mix you claim is so consistent. Then come back and we'll discuss.

No, just no. You're grossly oversimplifying the mixing process. They absolutely listen critically to every single track on every single song and adjust accordingly. This definitely takes time. Even more time than getting the tracks loaded in their DAW of choice. Song fades, crowd noise, tweaks as instruments are swapped out, taking out the long breaks between songs, panning down where mistakes occur, etc.

point being... look toward some of these songs getting a full show release.
No, you said they mix the entire show. Mastering is a completely different thing. And it also takes a lot more time than you probably realize.

Of 42 Live Trax releases, five include tracks that were previously released elsewhere first (1, 11, 22, 26, 40).

There have been over 129 songs released on Warehouse discs alone (at least one of the discs has multiple songs as one track and I'm a bit too lazy to figure out exactly how many songs). I think 6 of those have then gone on to also be featured on an official full show release.

He's talking about the fact that the track Pig has a completely different mix on the LT vs. the Warehouse disc.

I have to admit, his point is credible. I can say almost for sure the same person who mixed the wh version of that pig, did not do it for the LT release. That's constant with all these releases as of lately. Unless it has to do with the mastering, but if you look at the credits on the wh discs and the lt discs, it will name different mixers. On Wh 8 vol 1, Evans was only credited for pro tools work, now he is mixing everything. Chris Kress I believe mixed the wh pig, have to check.

So yeah I wouldn't think they would mix twice, so they are most likely mixing a single song for what they want to do, then redoing the full show if it gets a release.

This is probably a bit on the high end, but there will definitely be flippers and I expect the second-market price to be ~$300

Hey, reportedly the next iPhone (and then likely other phones) will better support FLAC. So that's nice.

There are 42 Live Trax. There's DMB Live. There's a bunch of other live releases.

There's no shortage of live material for fans who want to put something on their iPods and Zunes.

Having a collectors edition set of material on vinyl is pretty awesome.

Plenty of bands have done limited releases. Adds a little something fun for the collectors or uber fans.

Similarly, listen to the mix of #41 from the Warehouse disc and LT1.

still should offer a cd for us "uber" fans who don't listen to vinyl, that's all. I love a good box set, because I'm a collector as well. but these tracks, rare as they are and not released, to someone like me is the jackpot, what we want the warehouse discs to look like every year. to have it on one compilation is amazing. so cd would have been nice.

    .
Amen. As a vinyl geek and uber nerd-fan, I'm stoked for this. I understand people who want this digitally, but I assume eventually it will be. It's nice that they've catered a few releases recently to audiophiles like us. From Crash 20th anniversary being all analog, to MSG LT 40 Bluray for the audio, and now this. Awesome stuff

And if this sentiment makes me a ball washer, so be it!
