Re: 2017 Dave & Tim Summer Tour

I'll start googling, but what is the Mann Center (Philly) like and Ascend Amphitheater (Nashville)?

Also, assume Huntington Bank Pav on Northerly Island is the same place DMB played in 2014?

I think it is very unlikely the second half of this year gets skipped.
Even if it's just one state, the West will have its day in 2017.

Probably going to spac, want the best seats possible, want to avoid lawn at all costs. Warehouse member since '13... do you recommend warehouse or ticketmaster/citi presale (is there a citi presale?)

It's still a pit. A pit is part of the venue. Just like the floor at an arena is still the floor, whether it's GA or has chairs on it.

Try both. If you are lucky enough to score anything via warehouse (unlikely) you can always help fellow fans here if you find better tickets elsewhere.

Came in to post something similar.

I was jazzed about Merriweather, and then I realized it would only be D&T. I'd kill to see the whole band there-- because it's one of my favorite venues on the east coast. But, I'm not fighting for Pavs-- and the lawn would be insufferable. I think it's going to be hard to hear on that lawn. Can't even imagine how rough it'd be for Dave and Tim at a place like SPAC.

(But, i fuckin' hate that place, tbh Jones Beach FTW.)

EDIT BC I Don't wanna seem like an asshole: Anyone going to those shows (SPAC or Merriweather) is going to have fun, no doubt. But to me, It just feels anti-climactic to go to a big shed like that to hear 2 acoustic guitars, even though I like who's playing the guitars.

Just like they do at their previous ampitheater performances (ie CMAC), they're going to curb the lawn almost in half for what a DMB show would hold. Its going to be fine.

Ascend is small (I think it's 8K) and it's mostly lawn. It's right on the river (across the bridge from the Titans stadium). It's in the Downtown Nashville (aka the touristy area). Lots of great restaurants, hotels, museums and bars within walking distance. The sound is great anywhere in the amphitheater. It's only like 3 or 4 years old, so it's still new and nice. I loved seeing Phish there. Would definitely return for another show.

I'm starting to feel this way. Initially I got excited when I saw the email but now I'm more meh. It's not going to have the intensity of a full band show but it's going to be a full band show atmosphere. I can't see the crowds behaving in the lawn for a D&T show if they can't even behave in theaters.

I've reached the point where if I make it, I make it. If I don't it's not a big deal, I'd already decided to go see plenty of other bands this year in place of seeing DMB.

I suppose I could talk myself into doing a Portland/Bend or Denver show, had they announced them, but now I can happily ignore this tour like I was planning to anyway.

I guess my only passing realistic interest in this is how many times The Stone gets played.

this. the more i thought about it, the more i thought these venues and this tour idea is awful. the notion of the intimate setting with D&T is gone. used to be a treat to be one of 3,000 in a small venue. now, you're asking people to pay $100 for a D&T show in a DMB venue.

Maybe when they get as big as Gramatik they'll be able to play Red Rocks.

You are not alone. I was slightly interested hearing about the tour, then I saw the venues.

There's maybe 2-3 that could be good but amphitheaters for ONLY Dave & Tim feels odd and confusing.

I don't think that is really the case. Both of them could have wanted time off... granted, more shows can be added, but this is DRASTICALLY less shows than a standard summer. Plus, Dave doesn't like to sit still. I have a feeling they will take most of July/August off and maybe do a West coast fall tour with another 10 dates or something

Carter is the only one not doing anything this year. Maybe it was for him? He's the oldest, and the one that it's most physically taxing on.
