DMB fans and pot smoking

Me and friend were having a discussion on the connection between being a DMB fan and smoking pot. Well, since most all of you on this board are DMB fans from almost everywhere in the US, i think it would be a good place to get some results. I want to see if percentage of DMB fans who smoke pot is the same as the percentage of young Americans (age 16-30 ish) who smoke pot. So please answer and be honest.

Interesting poll...thanks for doing it as I would be interested in the results. So far the No's are winning...ya! It's always bothered me when I tell people I am going to a show and they make a comment about smokin dope (which I don't do). For me it's about the music. I wish that stigma wasn't associated with Dave but unfortunately....LOL
(Side note: saw him with Tim at Oakdale last month and whoa was he stoned! LOL It amazes me that anyone could put perform in that state....and it WAS an awesome show! LOL Anyone else think that too?)

I'm personally not always convinced that dave is stoned. He always appears more drunk than stoned, but maybe that's just me. I see drunk and stoned people all the time and I think dave's stage appearance is more of a combination with him being nervous and slightly intoxicated (which is a great way to play in my opinion, I always play better, unless I'm wasted and can't feel my fingers).

I don't smoke, but I don't care if anyone else does or doesn't. My opinion is why the hell would I pay for something that could get me arrested or cause me to lose my job. I see no benefits to smoking pot that can't be obtained legally doing something else.

I think your poll, whereas it's a good idea, is not terribly specific.

What denotes a 'pot smoker'? Someone who's done it once? A few times? Someone who smokes on a weekly or daily basis?

Also, how large was the group of people polled in the US on this question? If it was exponentially bigger than this group, you probably won't get the same percentage, despite your efforts.

I've only done it once, and it wasn't at a DMB concert, so I put no.

This is an interesting poll, what makes it more interesting is 13 days before I saw DMB for the first time, I quit smoking weed. I've never gone back either, and that was back in 1998. I've never really wanted to smoke a concert either, though I do see many people smoking I think a lot of it stems from how "high" dave is all the time. Which I think is more of an act than anything else. Oh well, that's my story

someone should make a poll where its like. have you smoked: never, once, occasionaly, weekly, daily.....thats more specific...or just at Dave concerts, then you'll get your answer if they are anyway related

I think it's fairly easy to decide if you're a pot smoker or not. There is nothing to judge here you either smoke pot or you don't. Whether or not someone HAS smoked pot is different, but I think the person who started this poll wants to know who is currently involved in that activity.

There is nothing to read into -- if someone passed you a joint this weekend, would you hit it? I answered no, cuz I don't smoke anymore... that doesn't mean I didn't back in the day though

But on another note i think alot of people do smoke cause they hear about dave always being high and smoking...so thats a influence on them!! and to answer
someone else's question about "hoe does dave concentrait when he's that high or something that was said like that, above me in a post.........In my experience i find that i can concentrait alot better on what im doing like for instance playing guitar... the mood is easier going not a bad time to write music ethier

Yeah, it shouldn't be too difficult to decide if you are a pot smoker or not. If you tried it once a year ago and have no plans on doing it in the future, then you are not a pot smoker. If someone came over to your house right now and wanted to smoke with you and you would, then yes, you are a pot smoker. IF you smoke on occasion, then yes, you are a pot smoker.... etc, etc.

Just use your best judgement.

I would go with yes I am a pot smoker. I don't think most people do it at DMB concerts just because they hear Dave does, I just think that's what they want to do.

I answered yes to this poll cause I do smoke. And I happen to smoke at the shows, but it has nothin to do with DMB. Its all about the music for me too, thats what got me hooked on the band, not the dope!

well, i'll let all of you take a wild guess on how i answered the poll. i dont consider it a bad thing that i smoke herb or if anyone else does, but everyone should smoke weed or they are retarded, hah, im just playing, it all depends on the person, i am although not surprised that 'no' is winning. just because when i started the thread on dmb smoking weed, no one backed me up at all, i just got people who wanted to turn my question 'does the rest of the band smoke?' into a debate. oh well.......
