Re: New Remasters

While I am down about how crappy this year’s Live Trax have been (other than LT 60) I am happy that we have X’s remasters. That has more than made up for the craptastic live Trax this years. With that said, thank you X.

As always, thanks for your efforts! This sounds great! One suggestion for a future remastering project would be 1995-12-31. An excellent pre-FM circulates, and I think with some of your refined mastering techniques, this would clean up nicely and sound even better than it already does!

This show needs no introduction, as it is considered one of the 2001 top shows. What I have used for the remaster is the FM broadcast, which contains songs of each of the two nights.
I have done some mixing first, since I wanted to get rid of the radio speaker, so I did. Then, I have worked on balance, EQ, dynamics, punch, using mostly Ozone 10.

    https://mega.nz/folder/GVAzAarA#b5H8IhaI4Egajk39jcU0ig

Note:For the ones that want to hear the whole show, I have reworked the pre-FM source also, creating mixing it with Jon Ice's AUD tape. This was done just trying to the get the best possible result, but I didn't go to far with that. Too much crowd noise, and somehow the pre-FM wasn't as good as the radio source. You'll find the matrix on a separate folder, but before make sure to listen to the FM broadcast remaster, which is on another level.

    Can't remember hearing this one.

I have used that pre-FM source available. Sound was processed making use of Waves S1, Ozone 10, Waves C4 Multiband Processor, Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ, Waves SSL G-master Buss Compressor, Waves L2 limiter. Lot of work to get the a sound that was warm and good to my ears. Hope you'll like it.

Thank you very much Xecel. The "update" is top notch again. I don't know the original tape, but I can't find anything wrong with it. Always considering the year the recording was made.
    :-)
Above all, I like the feeling of hearing this "young" music, the joy of improvising.
"All along the watchtower" just sounds great, I also really like Drive in drive out and Seek up.

Just great what you get out of there.

Let's go back to a classic D&T show. Man, how much I loved this when I've reworked it! Many of you are going to love this show.

I have used that SBD source available, and, for filling up ambient sound, the tape of Jason Crouch. Sound of the SBD was mono. I have used Ozone 9 and I was able to convert it to stereo, then I have used Ozone 10 (EQ and widener), Waves C4 Multiband Processor, Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ, Waves SSL G-master Buss Compressor, Waves L2 limiter.

    New Remasters

Many people showed appreciation for these remasters I’ve been working to, someone even offered me some contribution to keep on working to this project.
I will continue with enthusiasm, and I don’t need any contribution to do that.
Since today is Sam’s birthday, as reminded also by this post, if you want to make a little donation to progeria foundation, I will be more than happy to consider it also as a way to showing your appreciation for the work I am doing. It is really worth it.

I put out in average 1 D&T every 10 DMB shows.
    There is less variety imo

I think that's a good ratio! Thank you!

I think the 96,97, 99 tours have quite a few amazing shows to choose from for variety.

2003 is good too, but a lot of those tapes sounded great when they came out. Tape quality made leaps and bounds that year for some reason. Maybe just technology.

Everything post 2007 Dave and Tim is pretty hit and miss for doing a remaster on. There are less, amazing unique shows to choose from.

This fantastic show sounds really great.

It's no epic NYE 96 (ie Live Trax 7) but this is a quality, quality show. Among the first tapes I got, way back in the day, as I recall. Thanks for giving it your attention.

Good. Do you have any show in mind, with a good tape or SBD?

I liked it too. Setlist-wise this show is insane. No bad tracks. I know it is normal for ‘95, but I am not used to that anymore.
Many particular versions, also. I love Watchtower and Proudest Monkey.
Plus, the new year’s vibe makes this show absolutely special.

It is a very cool Watchtower.

One note as I just got to the end. You have the final song labeled as What Would You Say, but it is So Much to Say.

The old days when they would play Too Much, then So Much ... rather than the other way around!

I liked it too. Setlist-wise this show is insane. No bad tracks. I know it is normal for ‘95, but I am not used to that anymore.
Many particular versions, also. I love Watchtower and Proudest Monkey.
Plus, the new year’s vibe makes this show absolutely special.
3.14.99 has a good tape! It's the show after LT 41. Last show of their spring 1999 tour I believe. Bob Weir and Santana guest on it. Really good.

And the tapes for 1.17.15 are really good too.

One note as I just got to the end. You have the final song labeled as What Would You Say, but it is So Much to Say.

The old days when they would play Too Much, then So Much ... rather than the other way around!
I have fixed the label. Thanks!

Sorry for asking for this again, but anyone know where I can get the Dave Matthews Live from home edits/remasters someone had made here a while ago? Missing the third sessions (the one that had break for it) if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it

    Thanks

Hey, @DEMETRI! Hope you're well! (And you, too, @Xcacel!)

Here's a couple links to that Dave show you're asking about, along with all the other Dave solo shows I mastered and shared on Ants shortly after they happened, just in case you or anyone else here are wanting access to those, as well.

    1st link:

"Dave (solo): Live At Home Sirius XM Broadcast, April 16th 2021 (mastered by djamieb)"

    https://antsmarching.org/forum/showt...red+by+djamieb

    2nd link:

"Dave (solo): Jefferson Theatre + Live At Home Sirius Broadcasts (mastered by djamieb)"

    https://antsmarching.org/forum/showt...red+by+djamieb

Hopefully, those links should all still work for you to view and download the files for any of those mastered Dave solo shows that you're after!

I know people typically hate the 2012 DMB era stuff, but there is also no Live Trax recordings from that year, and it is poorly represented in general....so a nice soundboard/audience matrix of the Gorge show may fit the bill nicely. Obviously, you probably have a lot of other requests, and would want to focus on older shows for now, but perhaps down the road that 2012-09-01 show may be a consideration to satisfy an underrepresented year as far as soundboards and/or official releases goes...
I have used that broadcast source I had, which was actually mono. I have converted to stereo with Ozone 9, then I have used Ozone 10 for most of the processing (EQ and widener). Final touches were a glue compression with Waves SSL G-master Buss Compressor, and limiting with Waves L2 limiter.

This one turned out GREAT....well done and thank you sir! I know this show doesn't have an incredible setlist, but the audio quality was nice to begin with, and then after you did the remastering, it sounds almost Live Trax-esque lol! 2012 is a year that is definitely lacking with official releases, so for anyone out there looking for a HQ recording from '12, look no further!

Thanks for just considering the shows that I mentioned. To be honest, they may not be the best shows in comparison to a lot of others. I do agree with you, 2005 wasn't my favorite year but the N2 MSG show they were definitely on point and it was special not only because of it being my only show with my dad ever, but the encore was quite special with the Halloween into Ants and the confetti falling everywhere inside of MSG. It felt like you were in a winter wonderland and gave it that extra reaction from fans and the band. They were definitely on their game that night, I felt, despite 05 being a weaker year. Heck the show has a 4.7 average rating on Ants so I think that's pretty good but what do I know?

You know one of the other shows that I have seen that really stood out from a standpoint of the band delivering a high energy performance was Friday June 2, 2006 in Noblesville. I have always felt like the band was really in perfect harmony together that night (though I am just going off of memory). I can still remember the look Dave was giving the crowd as he opened with the Stone...this confident stare as he was playing his guitar notes that seemed to be telling us "I'm about to give you guys a badass show". Would love to go back and listen to this one again for sure.

Thanks for considering! Honestly, the material you are putting up is top freaking notch! THANK YOU!
    Hey yatescory,
I went thru 2005.12.10 (MSG) and 2006.06.02 (Noblesville), and tried to rework those tapes.
Unfortunately, there is not much I can do in certain AUDs. An audience tape has some typical features that make almost impossible to get a quality remaster. Those tape are great as they are, and I totally understand that tapers don't mess up with them anymore: everything that you try to do has some counter-effects, often increasing reverb or audience noise.
I did try, indeed, and I put them on a separate folder called "Other Remasters _ lower quality", which you can access from the parent folder. I am not happy to any of those remasters, therefore I won't make any specific post here. But if you are curious or for some reason attached to any of those shows, this is where you are going to find them.
I am sorry I couldn't fully comply with your wishes, dude.

    Xcacel,
I"m not sure if there's anything you can do with 10.17.2015 or if it's anything you even want to do. I figured I'd ask. It's a radio and video broadcast. It's a pretty good setlist. Just a thought if you want. Thanks so much for everything!http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...129&where=2015
